Support Group For Dfw Banders!!

In the bathtub, with coffee as it my daily routine, but thinking that will change for a.while. I am a REALTOR so I can pretty much work things into my schedule, with some notice. So I would love to get together with everyone, if we ciuld come up with a fairly central location. We could all share one bowl of soup! LOL. -
Well, not thinking this is the time to ask which band he uses. Guess we'll see day after tomorrow!

cauliflower soup? Doesn't even sound good. But Lord knows, don't take nutritional advice from me! LOL. I wouldn't be in this shape if I had good habits.

For anyone in the DFW area looking for these products, they carry them in stock in Midlothian at the US DRUG MART. They can get anything, but have a good supply on hand and will carry anything that you ask them to. Stephanie there had the sleeve about a yr and a half ago and is very well versed on what things work, at least for her. She will give you samples to try to see if you like the taste. Just super helpful.

I don't know about normal, but I think it's common. You're not taking much in, you're not getting any fiber.... are you drinking enough water and walking enough - if so, call the doc. If you're not drinking tons of water and walking a great deal, then you might try that.

thanks - and yes, bitter is prob the best discription, although I try to tell myself it is a goal to strive for. Went to the RX today and got scripts. Insurance doesn't cover "compounded" meds, apparently - so hubs isn't thrilled with me, but surely he didn't expect me to go through major surgery with no pain meds?

Ramblings.... My beautiful step daughter is getting married June 23rd. Her mother is about the size I am. We do not have a good relationship. Like if I walk in the room, she leaves kind of tense. I have got to look better than she does in June - if it means I have to bribe one of you ladies to come use a chainsaw on me, I have to have a waist by then. I don't have to be a size 10 or anything, but I have to be down some! LOL Like most of you I have tried every known diet. I'd been very successful at times, but gained every bit and then some back, each time. I am terrified that this will result in the same thing. I know that ultimately I am in control. I know that I have to change my lifestyle.... of couse I knew all that 30 yrs ago when this started too! I lost 120 pounds with phen/fen.... I joined a gym and worked out every day, I spent money on clothes and fitness magazines. Then the gym membership ran out - I thought I had "arrived at my goal" and didn't renew - over the next couple of years I gained everything back. Phen/fen was off the market by then.... The what if's that go through my head are about failure - not a fear of surgery. I am scared silly of needles and thinking fills won't be any fun, but I do donate blood just to prove to myself that I can do it. I do believe in mind over matter, to a certain extent. I haven't told my adult children because .... well, I don't really have a reason. I don't want to hear the expected "why don't you just lose weight the normal way?". I was going to tell my son last night but he and his wife invited us over for dinner - chicken, and I'm in the pre-op phase and didn't want to go for dinner. It seems all socializing we do it around food and drinks. I don't know why. But does anyone have friends over and not have food?

Lapband With Plication?
Kami76065 replied to ilikebunnies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having iBand in 48 hrs. I look at it as two tools in one surgery. How bad could that possibly be? -
Congrats! I've still got a couple of days, and actually I'm glad I'm not staying the night. I just think I'd be more comfortable at home in my own bed. But then I have never had any issues with surgery before.
-
Anyone know the differences in the different size lapbands? And maybe why one size is chosen over the other? Just now reading all the info the doc gave me months ago, can you tell? LOL
-
Got "the call" from the surgical center telling me when to be there - what to bring, etc... Bring DL and Ins card, socks for your feet, pillow for the car ride home. Wear loose clothing, no metal on your body, no jewelry, no contact lenses. If ride home will be more than an hour, bring pain meds with you to take before you leave the hospital. NPO after midnight the night before. Be there at 11:15, surgery @ 12:15 - plan to be there between 3 and 4 hours.

Mine is the 18th and I'm not nervous, but a little concerned that I haven't told my kids and that might tick them off.
-
I am scheduled for iBand plication on 4/18 with Dr. Adam Smith @ Fort Worth Lapband. Anyone else in the area, in +/- the same position?
-
I just have it in my head that the band with plication gives me two tools instead of one. I may be mistaken, but ..

had 2 shakes, 5 bottles of water, and two fruit bars today - Not a ton of calories but everything was sweet - would kill for something salty - Surgery is Wed the 18th! -
Teri, who? I'd like to know more from anyone with the iBand
-
14 pounds in two weeks?n Wow, that's great!!

Of course your doctor knows what he/she wants you to have, but I find that a 1/2 tsp of sugar free dry instant pudding mix makes a world of difference on the shakes. Try the cheesecake pudding mix. Or pastachio (sp?) butterscotch is wonderful as well, and if the calorie count will allow, a tsp of peanut butter! I blend the powered mix with ice and flavorings like the pudding mix. WONDERFUL
