  1. I was sleeved 4/24 so I'm only about 2 weeks out. My surgery was a breeze. My doctor did not require a pre-op diet. His only requirement was that I not gain any weight. I had to be on clear liquids 24 hrs prior to surgery. Let me just back up a little bit........my initial consultation was 3/19. My insurance company did not require a waiting period or 6 mth supervised diet. I had to have 1 psych eval ,1 nutritionist visit and a upper GI. It is amazing how quickly it all happened. My surgery was scheduled and !bam! it was done. Now as far as my surgery is concerned..........I was extremely nauseous after coming out of recovery. The doctor assured me it was because of the anesthesia. By that night it was completely gone. The next day I had a couple episodes of acid reflux but nothing major. It was all uphill from there. The last day I had pain meds was the day after surgery and haven't had any since. I feel great! My doc required me to do 2 week liquids including cream soups. The only way I have cheated is by taking chunky soup and blended it to where I could drink it. I didn't try that until I was over a week out. My doc had said at my 1 wk appt I could do tomato soup and that all I had to do was strain my soup. If it would go through a strainer it was ok. So I made that work for me I haven't had a bit of problem with those soups. I am still eating 4-6 oz sometimes 8 oz. I have not overfilled myself yet so no vomiting. I seem to be able to notice when I get full. Its a full feeling in my throat. The ONLY problems I'm having is making sure I'm getting enough fluids and protein. The other problem is smells! I have not been hungry since surgery BUT the smells of other peoples foods is killin me. I haven't given into temptation but man its hard! Those are the 2 worst things that are happening to me right now. I have an appt Wednesday to see the nutritionist. I will be able to go on soft/mushy foods and I am overjoyed! I know this is terribly long but I didn't want to leave anything out! For me this has been a great experience!
  2. I too do not know what this is ....... but I just sent up a prayer on your behalf!

    Icecream

Okay here's a thought. 5 packs koolaid Sugar substitute (whatever is equivalent to 4 cups regular sugar) Water Put it in your ice cream freezer and freeze it just like ice cream. I haven't tried it yet with sugar substitute but I know its great with regular sugar. I hope the substitute wouldn't hinder the freezing process. Like I said.....it was just a thought!
  4. Hey suzcomptime! I wad able to drive as soon as I no longer took pain meds. I had my surgery on a Tues and Wed was the last day I had pain meds. I was driving Friday. Not sure about the swimming. No pushing pulling or lifting 20 + lbs for 4 weeks after surgery. Hope this helps!
  5. That is an awesome idea brookb! I may just have to try that! Thank u for sharing!
  6. I tried the Oh Yeah cookies and cream, and vanilla. They're lactose free so I don't think that's an issue. I tried Atkins Advantage Milk Chocolate and it wasn't as rough on my stomach as the Oh Yeah, but still. I'm starting to get a little concerned. My surgery is April 24th and I'm afraid I'm not going to find one that works in time.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Hello all! I was sleeved 4/24. Almost 72 hrs out now. I had serious nausea the day of surgery right out of recovery. Doc said it was from anesthesia. At 24 hrs having some pretty bad acid reflux but they fixed that with some meds. They kept me an extra day because I didn't get in the fluids they wanted between the nausea and acid reflux. 48 hrs and all is well. No nausea no gas no acid reflux. I came home today and still feel great. I didn't get in my fluids today so I hope that's not gonna cause dehydration. I gotta work harder at that tomorrow but it should be easier since I'm home. I do feel really good though, aside from a little soreness. I have a high tolerance for pain so that's helpful! I am having to remind myself to take it easy because I just feel like I could do anything! I am so so thankful for all of the prayers and well wishes. I have absolutely felt every last one of them. I wouldn't be doing this good if God didn't have my back! And I didn't have the support from all of y'all! Love to all of you!

    Profect Anyone?

Thank you SkinnyMom! I was going to check with my doc or nut because that seems so much simpler. I appreciate ur information. Doesn't sound like I'll be trying that either.

    MyFitnessPal.com Members

I am new to my fitness pal and would love some friends as well. I am ltarlton1. I don't know what "friends" are able to see but I want y'all to know up front that my calories and nutrional count is horrible. I have not had my surgery yet. I'm scheduled for surgery Tuesday 4/24 so I was trying to eat some things I had been craving and get it out of my system. My doctor didn't require a 2 week liquid diet pre-op so I tried to get those foods in but be somewhat sensible about it. I don't know....it seems like I failed miserably at being sensible when you look at it in black and white. Good news though......I am focused and I will be successful with my sleeve!

I was wondering that myself. Are they sufficient? Where do you get them at? Anybody know?

    Pre-Op Diet...friend Or Foe

My surgery is April 24th and my doctor only required me to be on liquids 24 hrs prior to my surgery. Part of me is thankful but part of me thinks I should do a couple of days anyway. Just so the post-op liquid diet is not such a shock.
  17. I am so sorry! I did not mean to post that 3 times and I can't figure out how to delete them. I don't have a computer and I was doing it from my stupid phone and it has a mind of it's own! LOL
