  1. I had more trouble going down post op than up.
  2. Grr. One week of spotting post op, one week good and now spotting again. Dear body.... Do you really have to do this?
  3. I was sleeved last Tuesday. They didn't let me take my birth control while I was in the hospital (2 nights). Doctor gave me the okay to resume taking them on Thursday night when I got home. He didn't tell me I need to crush them or anything since they were small enough. Despite having my period the week before surgery, I started spotting on Friday and feel like I've been having a mini-period ever since, despite taking the birth control regularly. Anyone else have this problem? If it's not resolved itself tomorrow, I think I'm calling the doctor's office to figure out what the deal is because this is annoying and frustrating.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Congrats Willowsknot! We have jeans day at work today for a cookout...I brought my own lunch since my very conservative dr wants me on purée until 2 months post op. Had to find a belt this morning! Something I didn't need to keep my pants up three weeks ago before surgery!!

    Question

I think your doctor will understand and not think you to be a weirdo. My doctor was actually surprised that I had the opposite reaction and was blessed with a very easy recovery.

Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

Another single sleever here! 30 years old and live in the Nashville, TN area. Born and raised in Ohio. Moved to Nashville for better career options....6 years later, excited to see what other options arise as I become the new, healthy me. Sleeved 4/24/12.
  7. I considered 2 centers and both provided their out of pocket prices upfront and in writing. Once I picked the surgeon, I signed the form acknowledging that if I had complications, those expenses were not covered by the price. I knew that there would be a cost from the radiologist for the upper GI, but they gave me an estimate. I actually paid the upfront fee directly to the center and they dispersed the money to the appropriate locations.

    Driving

I was allowed to drive once I was no longer on pain meds. I had surgery on a Tuesday and drove on Saturday with my mom as a passenger. On Sunday I went to a bridal shower on my own. Just follow what your surgeon tells you.

    Protein Shake From Gnc

I tried some unflavored from there to mix into my food without adding taste. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to it. Thankfully, GNC has a 100% guarantee policy so they refunded my money.

    Getting Ready!

Good luck! Keep us posted after surgery. I too was VERY nervous in the pre-op area. The surgeon wouldn't okay me to be wheeled into surgery until I was 100% ready....it was just nerves that surround every surgery I have had.

First Outting Since Surgey And ....

Not 100 percent but I've been doing minimum outings daily to help build strength. Have an event similar to the derby next week, which is just 2.5 weeks post-op and I'm planning of sitting most of the day!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Also sleeved on the 24th. If I take too big of a drink or drink too fast I hear a gurgle.

    Ugh!

I crunch on ice to get the chewing fix. I was never much of an ice cruncher pre-op.
  14. I'm ready for veggies. I'm on purée stage and they don't sound appealing puréed at all.

    On My Way

Good luck! As far as which procedure, research, research, research! Only you know what is right for you. Your surgeon can help, but mine told me to be successful, I had to own it! 10 days out from VSG and no regrets.

    Hair Dye

Make sure the hospital allows nail polish during surgery. I've never had a surgery where you were allowed it.
  17. I had surgery April 24th and am scheduled to return to work May 10th. Even with a desk job, my surgeon recommended to wait until after my 2 week follow up (May 9th) before returning to work.
  18. I was suppose to be full liquids for 2 weeks after surgery. I'm one week out and already on pureed food. Curious to see if I'll get to move to the soft foods/mushies early. 2 week follow up next Wednesday. It's interesting to see the differences from program to program. Heck, the doctors within the same bariatric center where I had surgery differ. I think it also has to do with the doctor's evaluation of the patient and how the patient handles each stage.

    Whey Protein Allergy...

Anyone know if you break out in a rash on just one part of you body if whey allergy? Tried a new brand with unflavored to help get extra protein in and now I have a rash on my stomach. Thought maybe Durabond allergy but the rash is in spaces not near my incisions.
  20. Not too many. I thought that too for my pre-op consult. The surgeon answered everything and didn't rush me. I even asked a few things right before I was rolled into the OR. They expect you to ask questions!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Congrats to all the April sleeves!! Let's keep each other updated on our progress as we continue our journey together!!!
  22. Thanks everyone! My surgery was 4/24.
  23. Glad it's not just me. While frustrating I can handle it! I just wonder whether to keep taking the birth control for now since I take it to regulate my periods and that's clearly not working.
  24. I am one week post-op tomorrow. I am lucky enough my mom (banded in 2009) is here until the weekend. She didn't think I should mow one week out so I made her dinner. Grilled handburgers and Mac and cheese. Didnt bother me at all to make it but she felt bad making me cook when I'm on purée food. Then as she ate half her burger and her Mac and cheese, I got full on just 2 tablespoons of my puréed Mac and cheese (mixed with protein powder). Couldn't believe how little it takes to fill me up. As we cleaned up the leftovers we commented about how a few years ago we would have devoured the Mac and cheese. The little things make me happy.
