Enjoy your last weekend of freedom to eat whatever you want. I did! I started my pre-op on Monday. Going good so far.
-
I'll just be happy when I can cross my legs again!!! Anybody else having this problem? I think I have to lose another 60 pounds before I'll be able to do that.
-
I hear ya! I stay away from cameras too. But I had to take a few "before" pictures - hopefully for the final time in my life.
-
Well you have a beautiful face! I think I carry all my weight in my neck. Seriously though, I carry my weight all over - not just one particular spot. I guess that's probably a good thing.
-
Yah! I'm May 11 too! How come everybody's "before" picture looks so much better than mine???

My surgery is May 11 - let's do this together!

I need a couple buddies. I'm scheduled for May 11. Let's do this together.

I've been on several diets over the years where I've had to drink whey Protein mixes. Unjury is BY FAR the best I've ever had! It's delicious! I mix it with 8 oz. of skim milk. I ordered some strawberry Sorbet too but haven't tried that yet. One of the nurses said that she mixes the strawberry sorbet into her Greek yogurt and she loves it. But you can mix it with Crystal Light or whatever and get your protein in.

Having surgery on May 11! So excited! Been on the pre-op diet since Monday. Three recommendations: unjury chocolate Protein shakes (best I've ever had!), Crystal Light Energy grape flavor (awesomeness!), fried tilapia with garlic powder sprinkled on it (takes about 5 mins. to prepare and it's incredibly good and I was never a fish eater). So excited and highly motivated!

Concerned About Pre-Op Diet...
yelorz replied to JessRess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best of luck to you! I just started my pre-op diet today (Dr. Fox has me on South Beach Supercharged). If you want a good Protein shake, I HIGHLY recommend going to www.Unjury.com and getting some of theirs. They also have a strawberry Sorbet and chicken Soup that you can use when you have to go on Clear liquids after surgery. -

I went to my primary physician first and she told me that she'd do whatever she had to do to get my insurance to approve my surgery. However, I have since found out that my insurance plan has an exclusion clause against weight loss surgery. I had my first consultation at True Results last Friday and the PA said he thought that I had a hiatel hernia. I'm scheduled for an endoscopy. If I really do have a hernia, then Aetna will pay for fixing the hernia and they can do the lap band at the same time - in which case I would only have to pay for the lap band part which would be $5500, as opposed to $10,000. Also, I have diabetic neuropathy in my legs and I have sleep apnea. (I had a sleep study done a few years back so that's why I don't have to have another sleep study done.) Even with my co-morbidities, my insurance will not pay for lap band. Every insurance plan is different though. If your surgery center can work with your insurance, you're better off. They know all the loop holes. Best of luck to you!

Had my consultation this morning. When the PA examined me, he said he thought from the looks of my stomach that I probably have a hernia. I hope so - in which case I'll only have to pay $5500. My insurance has an exclusion against weight loss surgery. I'm trying to get my endoscopy scheduled for 4/30 and that will tell for sure.

$5500 would be bettern than $9888, for sure.

I think I'm probably in the same boat. My company has an exclusion policy for weight loss surgery too. I'm going to True Results in Richardson and I have a consultation tomorrow morning. Amanda from True Results called me yesterday and said that my insurance wouldn't pay HOWEVER if they find an underlying problem, blah, blah, blah. So maybe if they find I have a hernia or something, we can get around that. Will know more tomorrow. I'm so determined to do this though. If I have to take the money out of my 401k, I will. I'm 61 and have been dieting since I was 12, so this is it. Do you have a surgery date yet? Good luck to you!

Good for you! I find out tomorrow if my insurance will pay. If not, I'll take the money out of my 401k. I'm so determined to do this. I'm 61 and have been dieting since I was 12. This is my last-ditch effort. I've done a lot of research about lap band and talked to several people so I'm psyched. Good luck to you!

Thanks to all of you for the encouragement. I submitted my insurance info to Amanda at True Results in Dallas and, hopefully, she can get them to pay. I have diabetic neuropathy in my legs, sleep apnea, about 140 pounds overweight, and pain in my knees. I'm presently 3 Metaformin a day. It would be wonderful if Aetna would pay. I'll keep ya'll posted.
-
I'm so happy for you - you must be thrilled! I submitted my insurance information to True Results to see if they can help me. I also made an appointment for a consultation at True Results for this Friday. :-)
-
Thanks! I'll see what I can do now. You've been very helpful.
-
Did you call Aetna yourself at all or did you have True Results deal with Aetna? I would love it if they would pay for the surgery - or least part of it!
-
Wow! Perhaps I need to go to True Results and have them handle the insurance part for me. So did Aetna require that you go on a 3-month diet and then they would approve the surgery? Maybe I shouldn't give up hope just yet.
-
No. They'll give me a discount if I join Jenny Craig or something like that. But they won't pay for any bariatric surgery. (And I don't know why this font size is so small - I set it on 18 point. Arggggh!) I hope you have better luck with them!
