Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
UK Cathy replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This does sound doable. Can I ask a question on the fast day I realise that 500 calories is the target but do you take protein levels into consideration at all? What I mean is do you have to get your protein levels as high as possible while remaining under 500 calories. -
Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
UK Cathy replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Taking the title of this post YES I WANT TO GET TO GOAL. I chose a personal goal of 100lb loss (this will still leave me in the overweight category so I might look at it again If/when I get there. So far I am 82lb down - sleeved April 12. What I am doing different today is that I am sitting here in my house waiting for a personal trainer to arrive. I have booked a course of 10 (1 per week) and I am going to follow her program by myself for the rest of the week. I do exercise at home, I have an elliptical and I have recently started with kettlebells. What I don't know is am I doing an efficient workout, I decided that if I am going to spend the time exercising I had best use it right. Hope the lovely Bev will sort me out. I have been at the same weight for about 7 weeks, I won't say stall as I think it is my own fault as I have taken my eye off the carbs so hopefully by committing to these 10 lessons I can get my mind set on the food side too. Wish me luck -
I found this weight chart online which you might find helpful, it takes into account age which BMI charts don't. Personally I don't expect at 54 to be the same weight as someone of 24 (same height)

Ducolux pearls, they are tiny and easy to take and work for me, available in any chemist but you might have to ask at the pharmacy section for them.

I'm in the UKbut not London , you will find lots of Brits on gastricsurgeryfriends.com (has a sleeve section) or WLSurgery.com , the first seems to have a few people in or around London.

Good for you for your public admission of struggle and request for help. This board is always full of people with good ideas. I think you know what you have to do though, Protein, Protein, Protein ... And get that exercise up. I wish you well. -

Sorry cannot see any pictures. -
Amazing weight loss, I'm 13 months down and 82lb but am pleased so far. You are doing well so tell yourself so, your weight will plateau and over the months you will have to have patience.

If it works for you then fine, this is your own journey no one else's, just don't compare your losses with anyone else either . The food/exercise program you follow will give weight loss that is just for you. Enjoy!

Well done you for admitting you have a problem. Go back to the basics of post op - high protein, low carb and plenty water. Give yourself small intermediate goals to aim for instead of just looking for the finishing line (which may be far away yet). Is there a local support group you can join? P.S get rid of the ice cream or any other temptations from your home. Good luck

Any success stories for the 50's group?
UK Cathy replied to MindfulWeightLoss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, sleeved April 12, 84lb down and 16 lb to go ( currently age 54). It has been a slow but sure journey for me. There is another thread on here called 'where are the 50s' and you will see lots of posts from people age 50 plus detailing the good, bad and ugly of their journeys. -
Well done on your loss you must be feeling wonderful, keep going.

Globetrotter, I came across this chart for women which disregards the usual BMI weights but charts weight relevant to age. I am a mature lady and I am going to use this chart as I do not expect to be the same weight as I was when a teenager. I am still a work in progress.

I travelled on the Sunday to stay in a hotel, hospital for pre-op testing on Monday and op on Tuesday, the co-ordinator met us in the hotel and told us to go and eat in the hotel restaurant and to eat what we wanted. As we had been on a pre-op diet for 2 weeks it was a wonderful treat. I had my op in Europe.

13+ Months Out, Still Struggling
UK Cathy replied to isntsheclever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Willing to offer support and encouragement, sleeved April 2012, have sent you a pm. -
Stalls happen at different times and for different lengths of time. Instead of weighing today take a tape measure and do a table of your measurements, bust, waist, hips thigh etc and keep a weekly measurement date with yourself. Those inches will drop even if the scales don't.

I went to a new exercise class tonight (kettlebells) and felt lightheaded during the class and had to sit down. The class is more strenuous than the other exercise i do (UK class equivalent of curves 3 x a week). The problem might be the timing of the class (7.30pm) and eating. I had not eaten before the class (plenty of water) so I think this might be the issue. If I did need to eat before class what should I have? protein, protein drink, banana? I am clueless so need your help. Thanks

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I will have something to eat before I go to next weeks lesson. -

I have bumped this up as I realise that I post at a different time zone and it is easy for the post to slip down and be missed. -
