I have posted this table before but you might not have seen it, it takes age into consideration too which most BMI charts don't. Sorry chaps I couldn't find a male equivalent.

Please forgive my ignorance but what is a sleeve revision? Are they going to make your stomach smaller? -
How was your 5:2 day today?
UK Cathy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Non fast yesterday, I seemed to eat a lot mfp says 1500 cal and 70g Protein so not too bad, I was surprised. I must of made good choices! I was hoping for a fast day today but looking at the day ahead I think I would be setting myself up to 'fail', I think I will fast tomorrow instead. That is what I like about the 5:2 it is very adaptable. It is odd sometimes looking in here as you guys are finishing your day as I start mine. -
Nearly end of term Coops, hang in there.

I find using the barcode reader invaluable. Idon'thave to type anything, maybe just adjust portion size.

How was your 5:2 day today?
UK Cathy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Trying to get back on track after a difficult couple of weeks with family crisis. I had lost 4lb but unfortunately have put it back on. So today was a fast day and mfp says 582 calories consumed, not exactly perfect but I took the extra calories as I realised my protein had to be boosted. -
I now have ipad access.
-
A little technical problem here on the main site it says I am a member of the group but when I try to access using ipad it says I can't . Help! On the 5:2 plan unfortunately the past 2 weeks have been pants and I have put back on the 4lb I lost. We had a family medical crisis (mother in law) which resulted in 2 hospital admissions, daily visits and relatives staying. All is well now so I have to get back on track this week. I am really heartened by the results people are getting.

1 year out....6 months of stall
UK Cathy replied to kelliecalgary's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Kellie I find myfitnesspal (mfp) a great app for monitoring food intake, I use it before eating something so that I know what that choice will have on my calorie/fat/protein intake. Give it a try. Try not to beat yourself up, you have come far on your journey, you stopped for a refuel but now is the time to put your foot down and complete the trip. -
Can we join groups from ipad? If so how do I do it

Has Anyone Managed To Keep Surgery Completely Private?
UK Cathy replied to bettyboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Husband, sons and prayer group know no one else. I made a big deal of being on a new diet pre-op and work colleagues were ok with this. I'm not a real fast loser (82lb in 1 yr) so no one has really questioned it. People see I eat differently, small plate with mainly protein and that I now exercise. -
Well done coops for getting it all under control again. I have lost the plot a bit as M I L ( who lives local) has been in and out of hospital for the past 10 days and it has caused a bit of stress. Unfortunately I am an emotional eater. I also claimed my previous 4lb total too early as I was so excited at seeing the lowest number on the scale and I should have waited a couple of days to see if it was real loss. It is now 2lb total and I have a fast day tomorrow. It will be interesting as S I L is staying and she does not know about the op. Also wanted to ask you if you wanted to meet up for a coffee 1 day, we could both travel half way and meet in the middle. I have not spoken in person to another person who has had the op since I had mine, spoke on forums etc but it is not quite the same. I am in education to and we have a nice long holiday coming up.

How many vets are actually AT goal and staying there?

Sorry fiddleman there did not appear to be a male version of this table, don't know why. -

I have posted this chart before on another thread but not sure if everyone has seen it, it takes age in to the equation which BMI alone does not. -
This app bums me out!
UK Cathy replied to superstarsandi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to claim your own journey for you and forget about everyone else. The fast losers are always the ones who post most (and good luck to them as it does really encourage those who are pre-op). Those who consider themselves 'slow' feel more reluctant to post as they can sometimes feel a little inferior with their loss and as 'large' people we have more than likely spent a lot of our time feeling a little inferior to others. Do post though as you will find that there are many people at the same stage as you and they feel happy that others are travelling along at the same pace. What I would really encourage you to do is to take your measurements as these are invaluable when you hit a stall in weight loss. You will find that the lbs are not disappearing but the inches are. Sorry if you have had similar replies but I typed this and forgot to press send and if I come out and check replies I will lose this message. -
Hi Luanne, I have one of those vibrating plates too, what exercises do you do on yours? I have a DVD that came with it bu t it is not too interesting. I have started with a personal trainer who comes to my house for 1 hr per week and I have booked 10 sessions. I have had 4 sessions so far and I really love it, she is concentrating on strength exercises and I am using my kettle bells too (which I love). I also have an elliptical so I tend to do 2 elliptical and 2 strength sessions per week. Stall is also over and 1 have lost 4lb in 2 weeks following the 5:2 program - there are a few people on here (mostly all over 1 yr out who are trying to get to goal, stay at goal or maintain). It is slow but sure at the moment.

Has the sleeve not worked for you?
UK Cathy replied to tannak's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ontour, there is a veterans forum and perhaps you should post there for some help as the sleevers there are like yourself many months out and the euphoria of the initial loss has passed and they have faced all different issues. Everyone is super helpful too, not that people on other forums aren't , it is just that they seemed to have faced situations that the newly sleeved haven't . Also, is there no one at your doctors office who can take over your care? Or another bariatric surgeon you can approach? -

JUNE 10, 2013, MY BEGINNING
UK Cathy replied to sherisleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are going through the dreaded 3 week stall, do not worry it happens to most people. Everyone gets over it and goes on to lose more weight. One your journey you might have a few stalls, for some people they last days and for others weeks! They are frustrating but have patience and perseverance and you will be fine. -
Well my first week over and down 2lb (this takes me back down to my lowest), had a busy eating weekend so I am delighted with this loss. Fast day today.
-
Good luck, you will be fine.

Add the protein powder to Greek yoghurt and mix well. -
Luanne thanks for the update, it is so nice to hear from people so far out from their surgery. I find it interesting that your weight is he same but you have dropped 2 sizes. I am in an enormous stall in terms of weight loss at the moment but shape is changing and when I get down my husband says what do you want to be Xlbs it Y size? I guess at times I want it all. I suppose because I weigh often I seem to refer to the scales and maybe that is not he right choice. Again thanks for the update.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
UK Cathy replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi guys I have been lurking and considering joining in. I am 14 1/2 months out (April 2012) and I have not had any weight loss for 10 weeks. I think that it is partially that I have taken my eye off the ball. So listening to everyone doing the 5:2 it seems that it gets you to refocus. I do not have a copy of the book but have I got the 'rules' right. You fast (500 calories) on 2 days of he week and eat 'normally' on the other 5 days. There should be a 12 hour gap before and after eating on fast days eg. If you have Breakfast at 7.00 am on a fast day then you should not eat after 7.00pm on the previous day and if your last fast meal is 8.00pm then you should not have breakfast before 8.00am on the morning after the fast day. A Q do you only have 2 meals on the fast day or can you have as many as you want so long as you o not exceed 500 calories? Also can you exercise on a fast day? Thanks for any help/ advice you can offer Cathy
