Any UK sleevers out there?
UK Cathy replied to chrissythemoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi one here, sleeved April 12, 86lb down and I am aiming for 100lb. My weight loss may be slow compared to many on here but I am OK with that. I am currently following 5:2 to try and get the last few pounds off. If you search for UK sleevers you will find another link where some Brits are. -
I chose happiness until I couldn't anymore
UK Cathy replied to Moro Rock's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope that writing down your life experiences has been cathartic for you. By saying yes to the sleeve you have chosen a path to a new you (physically), you also need to take care of the emotional you too. Both together is a road to happiness. I think your guardian angel has been looking after you well and I wish you much happiness from this point forward. I also want to give you a big ((hug)). -

How was your 5:2 day today?

Sorry Georgia is was a cheat recipe. I was in the store today and in the fresh section they had this packet of chopped up butternut squash saying it was a soup mix. It was called spicy butternut soup with coconut, ginger and lemongrass. I just added the mix to some veg stock, cook and blend. They said it made 4 portions but I am having 2 as they are small. Each portion is 68 calories with 3.4 g of protein. As I said I will add some cooked chicken to bring protein up. It smells lovely and I will report back on taste. Husband and son just got in from work so I am fixing dinner. -
How was your 5:2 day today?

Fasting today. It is 6.35pm here and so far I have had raspberries, Greek yoghurt, oats and cinnamon (one of my favourite meals). - I usually have this on a non fast day for breakfast. Dinner tonight is butternut squash soup that I am going to add some chicken to in order to up the protein. No extra exercise today, just walking the dog, as I had a heavy session with my trainer yesterday. If I keep busy I should come in around 500 calories. -

Laura I'm with you I am afraid with a gain after the weekend. The alcohol, food and chocolate was to blame and I am back on track today. It was a weekend away and I did really enjoy it, family celebrations turn up all the time so I have to learn better coping mechanisms. Or realise that the parties occur, enjoy them and get straight back on track. That is what I like about the 5:2 the fast days get you back in the right frame of mind. Here's to a good fast day. -

Having a few days away with hubbie and fitting in attendance at family celebration (christening) today. Family don't know about op so I just took small amount at the pig roast and filled plate up with salad, then ate the pork and left rest as no room in tum. I got rid of my plate quickly and I think I got away with it. The rest of the weekend may be harder though but life is for living and 5:2 will still be there Tuesday. -
I use raspberries and Greek yoghurt then I add a portion of oats on top. To add extra sweetness and taste to this dish, and others, I keep a small Tupperware box in which I have sweetener ( truvia ) and to it I have added some cinnamon. It is very filling breakfast and it gives me fruit, protein and fibre.

Give yourself a weight your happy at and weigh regularly, establish a eat/exercise routine you are happy with. If your weight goes above your top weight the IMMEDIATELY go back to basics of high protein/ low carb until you are below your top weight.

Fasted yesterday and came in at 545 but no loss on scales today. I'm doing ok so far today protein drink after my exercise this morning, chicken for lunch and some raisins for a snack just now. Salmon planned for dinner so it should be a good high protein/low carb day if everything goes to plan. -
Did anyone feel like they were going to die?
UK Cathy replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry hit send too soon. I also outlined my hopes and aspirations for them. I gave them the letters and told them to open them when I was in recovery or if anything happened. I am not too good at vocalising my thoughts so it was an opportunity for me to tell them how much they mean to me. My eldest son called me afterwards and thanked me for the letter and said it had mde him cry. -

Your start date and start weight for the 5:2 method
UK Cathy replied to No game's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Weigh in today CW 178 which is the same as last week. My fast days were ok last week and I got my exercise in it was just my feast days - I had wine, Snacks and chocolate over the week. This is an old pattern which I must put a halt to immediately otherwise I will never hit that goal weight. I see lots of people have changed their profile pictures, I might be feeling brave enough to add one - will have to find something suitable. -

I'm going to make this a fast day as the weekend was an eat and drink fest. Today is my weekly weigh in day and I am lucky that it is the same as last week. My fast days were fine this week and I fitted in my exercise but it was my feast days that were not good. Snacks, chocolate and wine sneaked back in. I am going to purge the house and get rid of any crap. Globe sorry you are feeling bad and not able to eat and hope the doctor can give you something to remedy the situation. It seems that you are in a chicken & egg situation at the moment - you cannot eat cause you feel bad and you feel bad because you cannot eat. Hope everyone has a hood day -
Having Issue With VST IOS app
UK Cathy replied to Rachel's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Susan are there any issues with ipad app. Yesterday my app was jut giving me a blank screen so I took it off and put it on again. The app immediately logged me in but when I tried to go to my subscribed threads it says for the 5:2 threads I cannot read them (not authorised) but from the web edition of vst I can access them as it recognises me as a bonafide group member?? -
Share your "slow loss" success!
UK Cathy replied to clk's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It's the wine, you should reduce it or even better eliminate it altogether. Most surgeons say at least 6 months before any alcohol. Also popcorn. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here to the fact that this is your real eating/drinking habits as what you have mentioned are products that tend to get fellow sleevers worked up and you will get many negative replies. Be prepared to be called a troll or imposter. If you are a new sleever you should not be putting your new small stomach under any strain at all, it was a major op. -

Had a really good fast day today, came in at 563 calories plus I did a workout and walked the dog. Feeling good. Cheri there was an article in today's Times (UK edition) about weight loss, or lack of it and sleep depravation. I will try and get a link for you but I was reading the printed edition. I do have an e subscription too so might be able to copy and paste at least. -
Instead of tortillas I use little gem lettuce leaves to hold my meat/cheese combo, use lettuce too with chilli.

Prayers being offered now for all our cousins out there, sleeved or not, who are having a difficult time. May The Lord bless them and give them peace.

I'm trying to follow. 15 July start, 3lb loss so far. I don't post in the group as much as others but I am here.
-
Well done on your loss and maintenance. I remember your posts when I was pre-op and they were always so sensible and I really liked your attitude to goal weight. I personally have decided on a total wight loss of 100lb which would still leave me in the overweight category but I hope it will be a weight I can maintain and look and feel good at.

If you are biking for 4 hours each day I would think that you are not having enough calories. I am not an expert on this but try upping the calories. Also you say 400-600 calories but how much protein?
