Cheri, so sorry for your loss, he was so young. Also your health issues must be a worry to you, do they think any of it is VSG related? I know it is easy for me to say but concentrate on you and not your weight at the moment. Be kind to yourself. I will hold you and your family in my prayers.

How was your 5:2 day today?
UK Cathy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Florinda, do you count your carbs as I would be interested to know how many you have. I know you have quite an extensive work out routine so I imagine it might be higher than most. Also I know there are 'good' and 'bad' carbs so what are your good carbs. My problem is that I like all the bad ones. Went back to work yesterday after a couple of duvet days, by 6 pm I was wishing I had stayed home another day. I did a semi- fast day yesterday, started out as a fast day but I felt a bit weak when I got home so opted for a meal instead of my usual fast food. Scales are down today and they make me 'overweight' but I need to see it another day on the scales to claim it. Rain, rain and more rain forecast for the weekend, just off to see my mum for the weekend - I don't like driving in the rain but needs must. -
My husband diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. :'(

How was your 5:2 day today?

Ladies you want rain? Please take some of ours, I'm sure Coops will agree. There is an area called the Somerset Levels that have been cut off since Christmas, boats have been taking in supplies and last week the Red Cross was called in. Weather has just been on TV and we have more rain and gales for the next few days. -

Sad news Coops, such a tragedy I truly believe that when anyone does this the balance of their mind has truly gone. They must be in such a state. It is hard to explain it to a child too especially one they hold in high esteem. It is true that none of us knows what is going on in someone else's life and the most vulnerable are good at putting on a brave face. It must be somber in your house tonight {{HUGS}}. -

Technical help please - when using an ipad how do you pick up quotes to include in a reply? Wanda, you have got it - we all have to personalise this journey as let's face it we are so so different. You have made lots of changes what with exercise, 5:2 and hours restriction which you have to admit seems to be working for you so to include a 'indulge Wanda Day' (planned out and anticipated) will keep you on the straight and narrow. Well done for taking control of it all. Coops didn't realise that surgeons goal was so close, that's wonderful. Take a deep breath, a ducolux and a big squeeze and you will be there (just kidding). It must be annoying to be hovering on that edge for a while. We should be confident and plan our shopping trip to happen during the Easter break. -

I never think about the ticker I view on the ipad mainly and they are not visible there. As I cannot see your ticker how far to your goal coops? We had best start saving our pennies for our shopping!! -

Sarah, I think we are about 1 hr to 1 1/2 hr from each other. Sue has promised to come shopping with me when I hit goal and we will meet in Cardiff which is supposed to be a really good shopping place and it is not far from her. I just have to lose those lbs now. -

Coops, you feeling better then? There is so much going round - on Friday I felt so cold while we were out really chilled to the bones and I had to come home and get under the duvet with a hot water bottle. I could not get warm. Saturday felt fine and today I have sneezed my head off and now throat feels rough. We need a good dose of cold weather to kill all these germs! Off to Wales in 2 weeks time - booked it yesterday for half term - going to Saundersfoot and taking the dog too so there should be plenty of walking. I have to admit that I have not exercised for 10 days, I have just not felt up to it. My trainer comes Wednesday and I feel I have wasted the last session (she only comes once a fortnight) so I had better get on and do something tomorrow and Tuesday. I can't say I love exercising but I have been doing it regularly until now. I will give myself a kick up the backside or one of you guys can kindly do it. -

Marmite well that is more an Australian thing but it has caught on over here. You either love it or hate it, I'm in the latter court. Edit: sorry that is vegemite froM Oz but similar to marmite -disgusting might be a word I would use. -

Translation goes the other way too - a friend of our working in the US asked his secretary for a rubber! Here that means an eraser. I think there was blushes on both sides - eventually. -

Sarah, you buy it in the supermarket just like ketchup ( same isle ) brand names includeI HP, Daddies and Branston - supermarkets also do their own brand. I'm trying to capture images on my ipad but it does not seem to be working. Google, select images and put in brown sauce and you will see a good variety. -

I use ketchup on bacon or sausage butties but brown sauce is reserved for shepherd or cottage pie! Hubbie on other hand has brown sauce with most things. It drives me mad sometimes as I say try it first before adding anything. -

Well done florinda on getting rid of your regain, you are obviously not feeling a good place at the moment so sorry about that. You seem to have been through a lot recently, I don't have any words of wisdom, just ((hugs)) sent your way. Dee you too have had a lot to cope with, glad you can move back to your house soon. Maybe then you can get back to your routine. Still bouncing around myself, like many others I'm having too many carbs. I need to detox. Is it me or has the whole site been very quiet this past week or so, I think the Christmas holiday caught up with everyone and a bit of hibernation is going on. -
I am officially NORMAL!
UK Cathy replied to Indigo1991's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well done, what was your total loss to get to normal? Still battling for overweight myself. -
5:2 is aimed at people who basically are vets ie at least a year out from surgery and. They eat 500 calories on a fast day and eat their normal portions on non fast days.

slow losers I want to hear from you!
UK Cathy replied to ucjes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Some people are unfortunate and stall for weeks/months and it is frustrating. I can only say hang on in there, stick to your plan, log everything you eat into my fitness pal and make sure you keep your exercise plan up. Also make sure you measure yourself as many people find that they might not be losing lbs but they are losing inches. -
slow losers I want to hear from you!
UK Cathy replied to ucjes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have said this in other posts before - try not to compare your loss with others, you do not know their starting weight, height, metabolism etc. also pound to pound is the wrong thing yo look at anyway, look at %. Work out you percentage loss that is how much you have lost compared to what you want to lose written as a percentage. I am a slow loser I was sleeved April 12 and I have lost 92lb and that is 92% as I am aiming for 100lb. I did want to lose it by my first year anniversary but knew soon out that it was not going to happen. I too used to compare myself with others in those first few months and get upset that my loss was slower. However someone said use the percentage method and then I became more calm especially when I hit the 50% mark as I knew that from that point on I had less to lose than I had lost already. Hope this helps some of you.
