How was your 5:2 day today?

Well my weigh in day and I stayed the same. I was 2lb down before the weekend but had a weekend away at a friends house and came back with the weight up. So I suppose that to be the same is a bit of an achievement. I have told myself up/down/same I must post my weight to keep myself accountable. I did up my exercise though and I'm pleased with that, I had to cancel the trainer yesterday as I took to my bed Mon and missed work (not like me at all), lots of viruses and colds etc doing the rounds. I have just spent the last 2 days in bed feeling floppy, I'm back in work today and I hope I hold out. We are quiet here at the moment. Sarah how you doing now after the plastics? Ready to share some photos.

    I've gained weight

Put one of last years dresses on the outside of the wardrobe and look at each morning, then vow to make that day good in terms of eating and drinking. We all need something to aim for.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Congrats Georgia - it's nice to have a mixture of the sexes. I had a fast day yesterday and came in at 620 - I had to have a protein drink as I stupidly ate 2 biscuits at work. I logged them but of course they did not contribute to my protein total so I thought I had best pull it up. I think I made a bad decision yesterday in having my fast day on a working day. I got up and just had coffee before starting work, worked a heavy loaded day 8-5.30pm, drove home and then did some exercise otherwise I would not have done it, showered and ate dinner then I felt terrible, just so weak. I think fast days might have to be on non work days. Georgia right come on people don't just lurk post, we need your support and you might need ours!

How was your 5:2 day today?

Well the trainer returned yesterday so the pressure is on to get into a good exercise routine. I weighed this morning and I an down 2lb for the week, little disappointed as I fasted yesterday and so have had 2 good fast days this week. But hey 2lb is 2lb and that is 10% of the gain so I am accepting it. Keep going ladies - it is good to see people returning and recommitting for the new year.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Yesterday I had a fast day and came in at 520 calories (I even logged the 4 nacho chips I pinched from my son while in the cinema). First thing this morning I got on my elliptical and did 2 miles, I was hoping for 3 but I am not fit so will have to aspire to that. So far so good.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Ladies I need your help and support. I have put on so much weight this year and I'm frightened. I weigh 20lb more now than I did at the beginning of the year. I know it has been a tough year with unemployment, house move, renovations, death and flood but it seems I have ate my way through it all and had my head in the sand concerning the scales. It is not just the food it would seem that our weekend wine has been extended to weekdays too. I do have a plan - January no alcohol(quite common in the UK these days), back to 5:2 including eating well on the 5 days, exercise (I have booked the trainer to come back starting Tuesday). I'm going to make my weigh in day a Wednesday. So please if I don't 'report in at least one a week badger, 'shout', 'shake' me until I respond. I'm sat here on the last day of the year crying at my own stupidity for letting things get so bad. Best wishes to everyone for 2015.

Sarah, sorry to hear that but so glad you are OK, take care of yourself as whiplash is very painful. The car can be replaced but you can't. As a group we really do represent everyday life what with births, death, marriage, accidents sickness and wellbeing - we have had it all. What is really nice is that we are here to support each other through life's ups and downs.
  14. Kathy, congrats on your anniversary. You are such a positive person on here - always offering support and great wisdom. I'm so glad you stick around and help so many. XX

Coops, those videos are fab, it must of taken a lot or organising. Denise you don't sound too happy, hope it is just seasonal and that your SAD lamp works. Well like Coops, lack of exercise and too many carbs are my downfall at the moment. When I finish posting this I'm going to text the trainer and book a set of 10 lessons, starting New a Year. I can't really afford it but at the same time I have to make myself afford it. I'm sure there are things I can cut down on. Coops, hole in ceiling fixed but redecoration will probably have to wait until new year, no biggie. Sofa still missing but I believe it has been dried out. Sounds like there is some struggling going on but I'm so happy that we are more active in responding to each other at the moment.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Welcome Lynda. Florinda I just looked up that diet system as I have never heard of it at all (don't think it is available in the UK). It obviously has dramatic results going by your loss. How well is it fitting in with your own personal dietary needs as I know they can be complex depending on how you are feeling. A new man and a new job too - you must be on a real high. Good luck with it all - you deserve it as you have had a real few rough months. Looks like 2015 might be your year. The house is cleaned up but it stills smell damp, the hole is waiting to be repaired and my couch disappeared somewhere. The plumber is accepting responsibility. Like most of us 5:2 has not been on my radar much and I really need to get back to it. I seem to manage 1 day OK but getting the 2nd in doesn't seem to happen. Fasting is not the problem it is carbs on the non fast days that pushes up the calories and leaves me wanting more. It's nice that there has been more activity here recently, let's try and keep it going.

Kim, that is a bit of a dilemma you find yourself in. I too have not told many people about the op so I don't know what I would do in that situation. However, it must have made you feel good to be asked.

How was your 5:2 day today?

They reckon it doesn't rain but it pours well for me that is literal today. I came home from work and found water pouring from the ceiling. We got an emergency plumber and in the end had to break through the ceiling yo find the problem. It was a small plastic joint that had failed. We think we will need a new ceiling, new carpet, decorating throughout and new sofas. The room was only completed 2 months ago! It's a good job it didn't happen at the weekend when we had 10 people here. Anyway it's only things no one died.

    Begin.Again.

Brave of you to share well done. I wish you all the best with your restart. I need to give myself a kick too, I'm 12lb up on my lowest weight and I need to get to grips otherwise it will go up over the Christmas holiday. Life has been a little stressful the past 3 weeks but it is over now and I need to get back to sensible eating. I put my back out in September and I could not exercise for a few weeks but again that is just an excuse now and I need to get back to regular exercise. Let's support each other.

Denise, hope that your antibiotic treatment is now complete and that you are feeling more 'normal'. Besides the sepsis has your operation worked and given you the relief you hoped for? We had the funeral yesterday and it did turn out to be a real celebration of her life with 'family and faith' being the main attributes. Sarah are you pleased with your plastics? I would like to start a tummy tuck fund but it would take a while as surgery here in UK is expensive. The house is nice and empty now and today I was off work so did very little today except lots of washing. The fridge is nearly empty and I am trying not to put too much back in it for the next 3 weeks. In this way I hope to get back to a good couple of 5:2 weeks. Hope everyone is OK

How was your 5:2 day today?

Ladies, you must be all very busy with your Thanksgiving dinners, we don't have that here in the UK. I think we all need to stop now and then and give thanks for what we have got, it is too easy sometimes to dwell on what we don't have or what we want. When my husband has had a bad day or he is feeling a bit down I always say "tell me something nice that happened to you today" - it might be a smile from someone or a thank you and when he thinks about it he finds something but it had been lost and covered over by the 'bad/stress/worry' things going on. So if life is bitch at the moment stop and look for the good - it is there. I give thanks for my op - I might not be at the goal I want but I am certainly in a much better place, physically and mentally, than I was. I also give thanks for the love and support being shown to us at this sad time in our lives. We are being contacted by Ruby's peer group (all in their 80s) who are saying what a beautiful and loving person she was and the positive affect she had on their lives. Yes let's give Thanks.

I have no objections, we really need to up our act though concerning the 5:2. I put my hands up as I cannot remember when I last had a complete 5:2 week. I do like the emotional support of this group and I thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. Emotional support in real time (ie UK time) is not always available to me and I always look forward to checking the site to check current replies and to see if anyone is online.
