How was your 5:2 day today?
UK Cathy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Trying to do 5:2, not always succeeding, weight not up any more but not down either. ????I think I'm doing too many carbs on non fast days. How many carbs (max) do you guys go for? -
It's not the failure that kills you...it's the giving up that will!

Welcome back, stay and don't leave - even when you are back at the place you want to be. I'm 3 years post op, still not at the place I want to be weight wise, some gain too. I can see how alcohol can be the new 'friend' and I purposely keep an eye on that as there are others who have reported on here how so easily it replaced their friend food. What is your plan of attack, are you going to go Protein drinks for a few days, log using myfitnesspal, low carb, no alcohol? You have done this before and you know what works for you. I need this site, I lurk more than I post but I pick up valuable tips and advice and there is a group of people I can call on if I need help. There is the vets part of the site but I'm a bit unsure on what the conditions are for posting there. I think you have to be so many months post op and have a certain number of postings. Vets post there about their struggles and successes. Take it one day at a time, we can't change what we did yesterday, we don't know what is going to happen tomorrow but we can plan and alter things during today so that by the end of it we can say to ourselves "it might not be perfect but I tried my best". -

Florinda, how did your show go? Do you have any photos of the pictures that you could post here? Your passion for the oils shines through, I'm glad you have found a hobby/interest that you enjoy and if keeps you away from food to then it's a ++. I wish I could draw or paint, I really don't have a single artistic bone in my body. I like art and people say our house is interesting because we do have bits and pieces around, my husband is the main buyer and he does have the eye for it. We buy pieces we like and want to display, we don't buy anything for investment. -
It looks fantastic on you and we all like a bargain when we go shopping.

Florinda that seems so little and no protein. Are you purposely going so low or don't you have any appetite? -

I would to live chat with you guys. I seem to see the same 3lbs go off and on these past months. I think I have it under control then wham, something happens and I console myself with carbs. I know exactly what I need to do but it isn't happening. I didn't used to get emails when someone posted but on my app (ipad) they're used to be a small red number next to the title of my posts ( or some title like that) and so I knew that someone had added something. Now I have to go to participated and scroll through. -

Well done Coops! Holiday over - I know how you feel as me too. However we have our new first years ( for Sept) in for assessments this week which makes it different. -

Try planning out your meals so that you know exactly how much protein/carbs/calories etc you will have. Then if possible pre prepare some of them. Look at your exercise regime and especially water intake. Write everything down in MFP or something similar. -

Florinda, has this had an effect on your weigh. I have been doing a mixture of protein powder and high protein meal for last 2 days, scale says I'm down 4 but that is after putting 3 on over the EASTER weekend. I feel in control but I just got to keep it going. -

Globe I'm just the same all my added back weight has gone to my stomach, I just said this to hubby today! I too need to get things in hand and I'm going to try and have 2 protein drinks and a light meal each day for the next week and see how I go on. The wine, bread, and anything else sweet has to go. I also need to up the exercise. I'm off work for the week but I'm unsure if that is a good or bad thing. Work could fill up the hours and stop me eating. Home could make me try and get back to good habits. We will see. -
There are weighing scales that measure % fat too.

Coops the news about your mum is brilliant, you have just got to build her up now. At work we use ensure which is calorific, the doctor can prescribe it. A small amount as a drink will give her lots of calories and so beef her up a bit. Denise sorry to hear that the op has not sorted out your back trouble and landed you with bills from your insurance. -

Hi everyone , been missing for a week taking care of my mum. Love her lots but couldn't live with her long time anymore. I managed to sort out 3 areas of her house with new flooring put down too and arrangements made for another floor to be done next week. Throwing out the crap (precious to her was hard). I'm shattered but feel I have done my best. My op was done 3 years ago tomorrow and I have realised that I have done nothing with this gift for the last year, in fact my weight is up - I have got yo get to grips with this and take charge. I don't know if I have shared my good news but my husband now has a job and we are getting to grips with the new routine. It's the first time ha has had a job while we have been in this new house and it is all so different for us. Good different, but different. I wish everyone a Happy and Blessed EASTER. I know that Christianity is not everyone's bag, but it is mine and this time of the year is the most joyous to me and that is what I want for everyone JOY in their lives.XXX -
It really depends on what stage of eating you are at. If you are still at the liquid then you might not feel full that you would at the solids. Again even at the solid it can depend on the protein, chicken makes me feel full fast, eggs less so - the denser the protein the easier I get the full signal.

Kim sorry for your loss, it doesn't matter if it is a person or pet if we gave and received unconditional love then it is a real loss. XXX -

{{HUGS}} Kim, pets are so precious to us aren't they. We had a cat put down early November 14 and we still miss her terrible. Her sister is still with us and she cries each night (for her sister we believe). Our dog is approx 13 now and as she has multiple allergies we don't think she will do the long life thing and we dread the day we have to make any decisions about her. So far she is just a bit arthritic. I'm an emotional eater too.
