Your Progess-Feel Like I Should've Lost More At This Poing
Sholitxmom replied to kariew28's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
2muchfun.....I love every thing you just said....thanks for sharing that. I had my band since 3/29 and have felt I have been doing horribly. I have lost 25 pounds and holding steady....lol. It is upsetting to know that this money was spent to help save my life and I can't get my head wrapped around this. I'm going to start going to a support group and try to exercise more. I need to make more time for ME!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -
Wow......couldn't go back to sleep and I must say this has been a great thread. Praying for each of you through this journey. I too am struggling and just getting started on my journey. I couldn't be failing at this already can I? I was banded on March 29th this year and have only lost 21 pounds which I think sucks. I have been toggling between 3-4 pounds up and down over the last 2 months. I have never thrown up but I slime a lot so they took out .2 a couple weeks ago. I was able to eat 3 tacos last night and feel so disgusted with myself. I don't get how I can still eat so much and not get sick but still slime and sometimes have a hard time getting stuff down if that makes any sense. If I'm being really honest this is one of the hardest things I had to do in my life and I feel people are watching my every move and wondering why I'm still looking the same.....THERE IS SO MUCH PRESSURE. My 25 year old daughter had her band last week and is down 11 pounds already. I'm so scared that she is going to be more successful at this than me. I want to be the example for her to follow my success and see that I'm doing good so she can do good. Just frustrated all hell over here and not quite sure what to do. I am going to drink more shakes this week and try to find a support group to start. I shouldn't be feeling this way too early on like this. I so feel like a complete failure. Sorry for the long post but I needed to get it out. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Plano Area Or North Dfw Metroplex?
Sholitxmom replied to MelanieClaire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How did everyone's surgery go? My daughter just did hers on this past Tuesday with Dr. Ham. I'm hoping we can get the group started pretty soon in the Wylie, Richardson or Plano area. I feel like I'm struggling and need to talk. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -
What a total blessing. That is so awesome.....CONGRATS. I'm a diabetic and was taking a HUGE amount of insulins. I had my surgery on 3/29 and down 23 pounds and have cut both of my insulins in half and my A1C has dropped from a 10 to 7.7 in that shot amount of time. I can't wait to stop the blood pressure mess. Keep up the good work!!!! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I had my surgery on 3/29 and now up to 3.5 in my band (first fill of 1 cc last week). I didn't know what sliming was until I got that fill. So now it happens a lot and I'm concerned that I have extended my pouch or have slippage. I'm supposed to go back next week for a fill but kinda worried. Need more information on this sliming. I chew my food well and still gets stuck so I guess that is one of my reasons that I slime like this. This is so gross. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Sliimimg Questions
Sholitxmom replied to Sholitxmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you again everyone. I am learning so much with each of your posts. I can drink water so there is no issue there. I guess I think I'm taking smaller bites and chewing well but maybe not. I'm already frustrated with this band and just want to eat.......ughhhhh. I'm praying my way through it. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -

Have been banded since March 29th. I went for my first fill 3 weeks ago and they wouldn't give it to me since I was getting food stuck. I had my first fill of 1 cc making me at 3.5 in my 10 cc band. Here is the problem......I ate 2 street tacos last night and felt like I ate 10 seriously. I got so nauseated but no PB or vomiting. I'm wondering when I get that way am I stretching my pouch or do you only do that when you vomit? I haven't experience any of this and have no freaking clue what sliming is. I have lost 23 pounds and gain 1 -2 here and there. I feel depressed and think I need someone who can help me.......there are soooo many questions. Does anyone want to be a mentor or participates in a support group in the Dallas area that you can refer me to? I have got to get it together soon for several reasons but one main one is so I can be a good example for my daughter who is having her surgery next week. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Thank you guys your comments.......it really made me look at some thing differently. @runningscared - obviously you don't have any children. She is definitely in charge of her health. I'm just saying I want to be here for her as a support system like everyone should have and I can't do that right now if I don't have it together. I think you read too much into comments. Congrats......that must feel really awesome to have that much off in such a short time. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

The gurgling sensation is normal but the inability to drink isn't. I don't know too much but you may need to go all your doctor because you may need an unfill. There is still a lot of swelling going on and they probably put some Fluid in your band and it may be too much right now. Good luck. Hope you feel better. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Oh My Goodness!!! I Suck!!
Sholitxmom replied to Idaho Jenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 3/29 and I know exactly what you mean. I lost 20 pounds thus far and just made it to the soft foods and I want to eat everything in site. I am scared that I'm not going to be able to do this and need my first fill ASAP!!!! I went to a wedding yesterday and had a small plate of a scoop of lasagna, chicken pasta, salad, mozzarella stick, cake, and balsamic salmon. I know good and well that even though it was smaller portions I should not have been eating that.....ughhhh. I'm knew this was going to be hard, but I didnt expect this. I'm sorry you are going through this as well. I will pray that we both make it. Good luck!! -
I had my surgery 5 days ago and I woke up from my sleep STARVING. I am a diabetic and when my blood sugar gets low it makes me have the munchies REALLY REALLY BAD. My blood sugar had dropped to 62. So I at 1 cup of strawberry sorbet and 1/2 bag of baked lays potato chips.....I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I HAVE DONE THIS. I'm waiting for me to get really sick and I am really really depressed right now. Has anyone done this so soon? Also - I am needing some type of broth receipes to change it up so that I don't so hungry. HELP ME!!

Omg Starving.......help!!!
Sholitxmom replied to Sholitxmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the tips. I added the Greek yogurt to my shake and it made a huge difference. I went to the smoothie place yesterday to change up and got a meal replacement using the same protein powder I have been using with peanut butter and 1/2 banana and I got so extremely sick. I have a few more days before I'm off liquids.....I CAN'T WAIT!!! -
Omg Starving.......help!!!
Sholitxmom replied to Sholitxmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for much for the tips. I am doing maybe 1 broth a day and 2-3 Protein shakes a day. I have been doing pretty darn good until my sugar dropped and I went into a frezy. I got it NO MORE chips. I don't want to mess anything up. I am super surprised that I didn't get sick today - THANK YOU LORD @lifebegins2012 - thank you for sharing this - it helps to know that i'm not alone in this. We both have got to stay strong through this thing. @sagetracey - they just told me to cut back on my insulin and monitor it from there. This has been a really hard adjustment since my numbers are pretty good. -
I was banded this past Thursday the 29th. I am of course in my liquid diet still. I felt that since I could eat yogurt that eating no sugar added applesauce was good. I ate some last night and became really nauseated. I thought it was the morphine because I had to go to the ER for pain yesterday. So today I tried it again and I'm so freaking sick right now. Has anyone had any problems like this? Is it really the applesauce?

So Freaking Nauseated
Sholitxmom replied to Sholitxmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks.....that make sense. I just don't see how yogurt is considered a part of the liquid diet but I did better on that. -
I had my sx last Thursday and I'm feeling much better today. I was wondering does anyone feel like you have to burp but can't? I can feel the band when I'm not even eating.....like when laying down and it feels like its moving. Just curious what you felt a few days post op.
