It's interesting that most everyone who posts here their first time gets a lot of supportive replies. But you didn't. I wonder why. Do some people consider your current weight of 190 to be too low? Jealous of your previous size 2 size? Maybe neither. I don't mean to come off rude or anything, I just thought it was interesting. Eh, maybe I'm just seeing something that doesn't exist. Either way, I'll be the first: welcome aboard, and keep us updated on your progress!

I Have To Cancel My Surgery. So Upset.
SV2 replied to amytug's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't have a clue as to what your situation is, and don't take this the wrong way, please, but it kind of sounds like you're giving up way too easily. Go get your passport. You'll need it eventually anyway. Are there things around the house you don't use that you could put on Craigslist? What about selling things on E-Bay? Any additional part time work you could do? What about on the weekends? Babysitting? Again, I don't know your situation, but don't just give up. You can do this! -
I'm with you guys (and gals); banded but not sleeved-yet! Atheist, but only occasionally militant. As I like to say-I have a degree in philosophy so I can't be religious. I'm glad to see some non-believers here.

Unsupportive Husband Thinks Sleeve Wont Work
SV2 replied to melissamae99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife is the same. I was banded in 2007, and it slipped within the first few days. As a result, my weight loss has not been good. I was able to eat pretty much anything. She thinks the sleeve will fail, too, or I will at least eat around it. She doesn't want me going through another surgery, either. She thinks it's too radical and risky since I'm "only" 235 and 5'9". Our out of pocket share of insurance is already covered for the year since we had a baby and I had my gallbladder out, so the surgery would basically be free as long as I have it this year. She also thinks I can just lose enough of the weight myself without surgery. She's basically not supportive, and thinks I shouldn't do it. It's very discouraging, to the point that I don't talk to her about it. She may go to the seminar Monday night with me. We'll see how that goes. Thanks for letting me vent. -
BCBS CA here as well. What were the insurance requirements? I found out I'm covered (I am the employer and I guess got lucky that I picked the right plan that covers VST!). I am a lapband revision, but I'm concerned that I would qualify for a new procedure (33 BMI, etc.).

Wow, that is quick. I have Blue Shield, which it appears is one of the easier insurance providers to get approval from. Also, I have already had a baby born this year and gall bladder surgery, so my deductible and yearly maximum are already covered, so it would be basically free if I'm approved. My band has slipped and needs to come out. My BMI is "only" 33, and don't have much in the way of comorbidities at this point, but I'm hoping I will still be ok for the surgery. If it gets dragged out and I have to do a bunch of stuff beforehand, then I might be out of luck if it drags into next year. -

How did everything go? I'm a band to sleeve revision, and have my consult with him in a few weeks. What does he require before the surgery? How quick is his scheduling?
