Going For It Again in 2010

and another quick comment...i like beer, ive always liked the taste of beer, and i was a dr pepper drinker too...after banding i convinced myself that i could never drink a soda or beer again...and conned myself in believing it...so...i have never gone back to either of those,...but....sweet tea is now a vice.....man....i feel like i am going to have to go to rehab to put the cup down...lol....i just dont like the artificial sweetners, rather not have sugar than have fake sugar....but i am really missing sweet tea....been a week so far...if i could put down beer and dp...i can put down sweet tea....dont know why it is harder this time than when i first had lap band...guess i was so excited about the process last time...

for me, i have always ran with the under 50 fats over 50 protiens...seems like if i try to keep the 50/50 rule of thumb, calories always stay low, usually 1000-1500...i never hardly get to fifty fats...but always soar above the 50 protiens...maybe i should post my foods daily for accountability too...
  4. Well, when i fall off track, which in this world is so easy to do, i get back on by writing down what i eat, it holds me accountable for what i am putting in my mouth and my list shows the name of the food, the calories, the fats and the protiens-as a quick rule-i keep the fats below 50 grams and the protiens above 50 grams (per day) the calories seem to stay within limits. in a day at work i may start off with a cup of coffee, 50, 0,0...then have some cottage cheese and peaches, 180, 4.5, 13...for lunch maybe some chicken salad with a wasa cracker, 155, 5, 16...afternoon a protien shake 160, 3, 30...and maybe yogurt 100, 0, 5..and that is 645 calories, 12.5 fats and 64 protiens at work....and in the evening-maybe meatloaf and broc. and carrots, maybe some lauging cow cheese and pretzil chips for a bedtime snack....stayed well with in my limits. i get a lot of my recipies off this site, also from atkins and diabeties websites...helps stay high protien low fat, hope that helps a little

great...good to see you are doing good....i have been eating well, really well, thanks to recipies i have gotton from this site, but everyday around 2 pm i get a horrible headache that lasts till i go to bed...i dont know if i am going thru withdraw from carbs and fried food...lol...or what...but man..it hurts.....i am sticking with it, hoping that after "detoxing" my head will stop hurting....
  6. Hi, I read your post and it gave me some inspiration. I was banded right at 5 months ago and has only lost right at 30 lbs. I know that I can eat a lot of food still, but I try to stop myself from overeating. I've had 3 fills and I still dont get full after eating anything. Please let me know some of the things you did to lose so much. I know that everything I eat is not all healthy but I dont want this to be a flop. I love my band too. Yes, It has helped me. I was hoping that I could lose more than 30 lbs in 5 months. let me know what to eat and what not to eat. I do plan to start over with my fitness program but I thought that by having this done, I would get full after eating but I dont. Let me know how you did it.....Thanks

here's the deal....yes the band works, of course it works, i would do it again in a heart beat...with out a doubt...but....what they say is true...it is a TOOL...you have to make the right decisions...and even with being an emotional eater...i dont gain like i did before....you may grab a bag of doritos, but you can only eat a few,...not the whole bag like before...ya know what i mean??? I love my band...i believe it saved my life...i still have a long way to go to get to goal...but i HAD NO GOALS before i got the band...right??? I have lost 120 pounds...and would have gained that much or more...or would have died by now without the band...i was completely out of control....and more than just my weight has changed...my confidience and self worth...just keep in your mind that it is a tool, you cant build a house without a hammer...but the hammer doesnt make the house,...its an awesome thing...this lap band....and i would suggest it to anyone...I thank God for it every day....

Going For It Again in 2010

well, i guess the beginning of the year makes us all take a look at ourselves. I was banded in feb 2007...i weighed 390 then, 272 today...i have been on a plateau, gaining a couple of pounds, losing a couple for over a year...i too am an emotional eater, and life has really taken its toll on me...and i love food....i have learned to eat around the band...and wildly enough, cheescake and ice cream goes down much better than lettuce or roast...go figure!!!! I'm sorry that you too are feeling the need to post, and start fresh this year, but it helps to know i am not the only one...maybe we can start off on the right foot together....i have been in the food forums trying to find healthier things to do for lunch...and I've got some good ideas... Thank God for this site!!!
  9. hi all, i have been on this site before, but it's been awhile, and never to this thread. I was banded Feb 26th (weighed 390), and now, more than 3 months later i have only lost 30 pounds. I know that i have got to buckle down on what i eat, sometimes i do go back to old habits, but i never eat even close to the amount i used to eat. this band is such a weird thing, i feel sooooo restricted in the mornings, cant even swallow milk without having to run to the bathroom because it always comes up. and forget eating a bite of scrambled eggs, even. but at night, its like ...wide open....and i still dont eat loads of food, but it sure makes it easier to make the wrong choices of the foods i eat....figuring this thing out is so hard....with as much weight that i have to lose, it just becomes difficult to ward off mac and cheese forever, you know? anyway, i dont really have any questions, its just nice to find a thread where the people are in the same boat that i am....

    I have 200lbs to lose..

i am 5'2...so of course to be 390...my gut hangs practically to my knees...does that SOMEWHAT correct itself as the weight loss gets higher???

    I have 200lbs to lose..

imagine....4 days out of surgery, i have just had 2 0z of a very liquidy cream of wheat (with skim milk and splenda) and i feel stuffed, FULL...and 2 weeks ago i would have never believed it....i can do this!!!! i do believe it it is true though, the band is such a TOOL but i know that it is my choices that are going to make me a success!!!!!

    I have 200lbs to lose..

wow...i went into this proceedure thinking i needed to do this before i have any health issues...luckily as my dr states.."your medical history is pretty boring"...but i weighed 390 pre lap band...was banded 2/26...havent weighed since the day i started the two week pre-diet...and i as i went into the operating room i was thinking...someday i will be able to REALLY dance with my husband...and ride carnival rides with graci...the love of my life, my 16 mth old daughter. i have not given myself a goal...or have any expectations in any sort of time frame. i dont know if this is wrong or not...but in my mind there is no way to be 150 lbs and i dont want to be discouraged by numbers...that is what i have obsessed with all my life and still managed to reach almost 400 lbs...but i see you guys with your tickermeters and i wonder if i too should be keeping track of what and when i lose. i am only 4 days out of surgery, have suffered no nausea, no hunger, and little discomfort..i feel so lucky to have been able to be banded and i believe that 200lbs or more is a thread that i want to have access to because we are the ones that have suffered so....physically, emotionally, to be where we were pre-band...and with such a huge amount to lose, it is through the encouragement of others that we feel able to keep going, at least for me...sorry to ramble, it just feels good to get some of this off my chest.....

    New in North TX

hi fellow north texans...this is my 3rd day post op...and i am feeling pretty good. i havent had the nausea that some people post about...i do however feel that i have a lump of food caught in my chest thats been there since i woke up from surgery. i guess its the port or the band or something. that and the pain under my left shoulder blade are really the only complaints i have.
  14. it's just amazing to me to concider that in 45 minutes a completely new chapter of my life can start...dont get me wrong..i know it takes a lot of work, but after so many failed attempts..this is the one that will help me stick to it i believe.....thanks for responding!!!!
  15. i am being banded tomorrow, 226 and all my supportive friends and relatives are wondering how long the surgery takes.., of all the milliions of questions i have asked, and research ive done, never thought of this one...can anyone give me some idea of what they need to expect tomorrow?
