Hi there,

Where do I start. I was always a big kid. I was very athletic, but larger than the average bear. I began to thin out around my junior year of high school. I was at a normal weight until about 23. Although I looked normal, I still felt like a big girl. At 22 I stopped a fast life of drugs and insanity, but began to drink alcohol. At 23 I went from about 190-380 in a years time. I contribe the weight gain to heavy drinking (empty calories.) I was not a heavy eater, but I did not make the right choices when I did eat. Over the next year, I topped out at 430 pds. I"ve seemed to maintain that weight for the last 10 years. In 2009 I was scheduled for bypass surgery. I was not comfortable with the procedure or a lifetime of suppliments. So I punked out. Now fast-forward to 2011. I am still around 433 pds. Something has to give. I was tired of sitting on the sidelines watching life go by. I decided to go for it. I called my surgeon up and began the process. He told me about the vertical sleeve and I was convinced that now was the time. I did all that was asked of me except not smoking. I didn't quit until the day before surgery 3/21/2012. I will be 35 this year, and I am looking forward to my new life exercise, smart dining, less weight, and smokefree.
