Hello everybody. I had lab band 4 weeks ago. Tonight, I placed my fingers across my port and place a little pressure on it. I did this because I was wondering how sensitive the whole area was. I know that the port area kinda hurts if I bump it and I wanted to know if a little pressure would feel the same. Anyways, it didn't hurt. But it felt like there was a little "pop". Almost like you would feel if you break the suction on something. I'm going to contact my doctor's office. But in the mean time I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this.

My surgery was on March 15th also. Feel no restrictions. I'm not really hungry, but I want to eat all the time. Hopefully my first fill will be next week on April 18th.

went to doctor on monday because of dilated esophagus. he said there was not much dilation and that it was not something to be concerned about at this time. port area is very red and swollen. started antibiotics. went back to work yesterday. overall it went pretty well. very little restriction. i can eat pretty much anything i want. i'm not really hungry, but i just want to eat and hardly anything is very satisfying. i was fine with what i ate during the work day yesterday. but after i got home, i just couldn't seem to get enough to eat. first fill (hopefully) is still 2 weeks away, on April 18th. started trying to exercise a little. spent 15 minutes on treadmill on monday. hate to admit that those 15 minutes gave me out, even though i was walking very slowly. yesterday, spent 15 minutes on the elliptical during lunchtime. again, didn't want to push myself too hard with it being my first day back to work. felt good afterwards. may try to do a little of both today. finally starting to feel like i have a little more energy. i work a later shift today. so if i can make it thru this morning at home, then i should be okay with my eating day because i won't have as much time to snack after getting back home tonight.

i was in a lot of pain for several days following my initial surgery. i was only drinking 30cc of water every 2 hours, but couldn't keep it down. as it turns out, although the band seemed to fit just fine, it got too tight after the surgery. very little liquid was actually making it thru to my stomach. the doctor said that the position of the band was perfect, it was just too tight due to the fatty layer outside the stomach lining. what they ended up doing was to make an incision betweeen the stomach lining and the fatty area and repositioning the band between it.

Hello everybody! I just found this website yesterday. I had my lap band on March 15th. Then went back in for laproscropic exploration of the band on March 20th. I did not receive any specific diet instructions from my doctor. I have been eating small amounts of solid foods since 8 days post-op. I am going to go back to liquids. It will be difficult, but I think that it will be better in the long run. I have already had the needle stuck in my belly. The doctor had to remove what little fluid was put in during the initial surgery. I was very nervous about it, but it was not near as bad as I had expected. I go back to the doctor on Monday because of a dilated esophagus. My first anticipated fill is schedule for April 20th.

Hi. I am 40 years old. I had lap band surgery 15 days ago, on March 15, 2012. I was told that I should be able to return to work the following Monday (March 19). I've tried to have a positive attitude, but so far things aren't going so great. I was told that the surgery was "perfect!" I was sick and hurting all weekend following the surgery. On Monday, I went to a local emergency room and was given a one liter of iv fluids then was told to go back to my surgeon. My doctor removed the initial fill, approximately 1cc. I was still having problems with burping, so the doctor suggested having an upper GI exam. After drinking the OptiRay solution, the radiologist stopped the exam because very little of the solution was dripping thru to my stomach. I was re-admitted to the hospital due to dehydration. The following day (Tuesday, March 20) I had a laproscropic lap band exploratory surgery. I felt better within the next few hours. I was home the rest of the week. I went back to work on Monday, March 26 - a week later than orginally intended. I worked one day then had to go to the emergency room the following day due to chest pain. Turns out there were not problems with the heart (yeah!), but I was dehydrated again and my potassium was low again. I spent another night in the hospital receiving more IV fluids. I am off work for the rest of the week. Now, I have to go back to my surgeon on Monday due to having a dilated esophagus. It is extremely frustrating to be told that the surgery went so well and yet have had to go back into the hospital twice in less that two weeks time and already be off work at least 15 days longer than planned. I had lost 12 pounds after the first surgery, but I have gained back 3 pounds already.
