Today I am 6 weeks and 2 days post op. I had my 1st fill. It was not bad at all. 1st my surgeon injected me numbing med. That felt like a pinch for a few seconds. I didn't feel the 4cc fill at all. I have lost 29 lbs since pre op diet/banded. 9 lbs since pre op diet and 20 lbs since surgery.

What went wrong?
-
Mine was also a 6 month documented diet. I got really sick and had to wait 2 more months for a total of 8 months. It seems like time flew.
-
That is GREAT! I had a few slip ups as well.

Your surgery date will be here before you know it. When I was being wheeled into surgery, I just start crying out of the blue. I just could not believe how fast time flew.

Please don't beat yourself up. Ok, you had some struggles. But don't dwell in your struggles. Tomorrow is a new day and a chance to start over. Start slow and work at a new goal weekly/monthly. Don't compare yourself to anybody else.

From 360 Pounds To 199 In Just Under 7 Months!
Lose100 replied to Joel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Joel, thanks for sharing your success. This really is encouraging me. -
I don't count calories. I am not dieting anymore. This is my new way of life. I eat healthy foods with 6 small portions daily. Counting calories gets way to tedious and frustrating for me. I try not to over think my weight loss journey. So far so good.

My first fill was today. Not bad at all.

Wow, you feel restriction with your first fill?
-
My first fill was today. The only discomfort was from the numbing medicine. That needle felt like s pinch.

I was banded on April 3rd and lost 20 lbs. We are about the same with our weight loss. That is a good rate at about 3 lbs per week. We are just getting started on this journey. Slow and steady we go.

32 lbs awesome. I was banded on 4/3/12 and lost 20 lbs since my surgery date.

Banded 4/23 And Exhausted

I felt that same way. I discovered my carb intake was to low for me. I increased my good carbs a little and that worked like a charm. -
It is very important to remember that your stomach is in the healing phase. I know it is hard but still to your doctor's eating plan. At 4 days out, your stomach can't handle solids yet. Don't beat yourself up. Take 1 day at a time. I tried several different protein powers until I found one that I like.

Gained Weight Once I Started Solids
Lose100 replied to Shannon28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded April 3rd. I had this exact experience. I was sooo frustrated. The replies to my post helped me to remember that the 1st month is for healing and not for weight loss. I was losing weight, then I gained weight, then my the scale would not move! But this week, I lost 4 lbs. Tues will be week 6 for me and going for my 1st fill on Thursday 5/17. Now I am concerned that my doctor won't fill me because I am doing so well on my on. The bottom line is to RELAX. How often are you eating? I try to eat something every 3 hrs. M I cut out bread all together. There is an app called my fitness pal that will help you. -

Band Is Too Tight With No Fill......help!
Lose100 replied to Carole Zurick Radney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have the dreaded lupus. I was banded on 4/3/12 with no problems (so far). The band can cause problems for pts with lupus. I am sorry to hear about your complications. I would stress to my doctor to take the band out immediately. You are losing alot of muscle not fat. -
I was banded on 4/3/12. I have fibro and lupus. I am fatigue and in constant pain. I try to walk 30 mins - 3 days per week.

Remember to carry a small pillow with you. Press the pillow against your stomach whenever you cough, sneeze, get out bed. This will help to splint your stomach and help with the discomfort with movement. Walk a soon as you can. This will help you remove any left over gas from surgery. Last but not less...relax.

Gas strips didn't help me at all. Walking and a heating pad did wonders. It will get better soon.

I was on solids at week 2. Every surgeon has their on preferences .
