8 week check up
gottagetfit replied to kauaigirl808's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congrats!! -
Approximately when were you allowed to eat protein bars?
-
I have always had a high sex drive and even more so now with the weight loss. My poor Hubby (and poor me)...he's the opposite...he doesn't usually want or initiate it!

Oh my, last night one of my pills got stuck in my esophagus. It's never happened in the whole month following surgery. I had waves of pains then ended up vomiting all the water i used to get it down. I went to bed and woke up and still felt it stuck, but without the pain. I drank 2 cups of hot tea without difficulty, ate my yogurt, but still feel as though something might still be there, like a burning feeling almost. It's at the bottom of my esophagus. Anyone ever experience this? When will the feeling go away?

I just had my 5 week appointment and am now on soft foods...chicken, tuna, shrimp, canned fruits, cooked veggies. I really think this will help me to get all my protein in. It's funny, i'm so excited but will probably get full after like 4 bites..ha!

Pill got stuck!
gottagetfit replied to gottagetfit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, thanks..it took 3 cups of hot tea though. I'm scared to swallow that pill again..may need to crush it up for a little while. Also, looking back on it, i was gulping water to get it down which probably caused my pouch to tighten...all trial and error..hopefully more trials than errors!! -

Drowning in sorrow
gottagetfit replied to nikkiba75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
maybe keep a food diary for a week then call the dietician and review with her... -
I tried scrambled eggs as they were on my list to have, but they got stuck and it was the most miserable 6 hours! I heard that a regular egg over easy is easier to digest. What kind of chicken..like canned or regular? Wow, that would be great to get to eat chili without using a blender..lol... I have been having trouble drinking my protein shakes..they just make me gag, but from what i've read, lots of people go through that stage and just to push on..I guess some is better than none..

What did you do when a pill got stuck? It still feels weird at the bottom of my esophagus today and it's been well over 12 hours. I am able to eat and drink though... Yeah, my doctor is very slow progressing the food stages. It got drilled in our heads prior to surgery the risk of rupturing our pouches...i was on liquids for a week after surgery (no protein) then pureeds for a month! I am so sick of it! What do you like to eat on the soft stage?
-
My doctor told me that my bowel movements wouldn't be the regular for at least a month and not to freak out if it was every 3 days even or longer. Fortunately, i haven't had a problem myself...

This is humorous. I too have been craving salt for weeks! I've been licking the salt off pretzel sticks then throwing the rest away..
-
Doing great thanks, except a pill getting stuck in my esophagus last night for the first time. Down 30#, but seeing weight loss slowing now. Trying to go to the gym regularly and walk. I go back to the surgeon tomorrow for her to hopefully advance me to soft foods!

Wow! You look great! Congrats.. -
Ugh...yesterday was a really hard day for me. I used to eat when i was bored and yesterday would've been one of those days. We stayed home, not much to do...commercials on continuously for food and found myself "missing" all old junky food i used to eat. It was depressing! I know it takes time to get over my old relationship with food and I am doing that...i guess it's hard cause i'm on my 4th week of pureeds. I see the doctor on Thursday this week and am anticipating being bumped up to soft foods...hopefully that opens up a door for some different foods i can eat! Anyone else have these feelings?

What do you take when you are sick?
gottagetfit replied to theby_88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told when i asked that as long as the product doesn't have motrin or aspirin in it (that could cause bleeding) that it was ok to take. -

maybe you're lactose intolerant? -
yes, it could be..i agree with kristy3k..you'll find you get very full fast and do not feel hungry, so try and eat things that are higher in protein. Be sure to put it in the blender first! I recently had chicken and white bean soup..looked gross, but tasted great!

I was told sugarfree only and to stop if it caused gas

How do you know what your ideal weight should be?
gottagetfit posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon never gave me a number as my goal weight. I just picked a weight at where I once felt the most healthy in my life...
