One week post op and only lost 5lbs!?!
apelt001 replied to lovedlov's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"Only five pounds" hunny you just had major surgery it isnt gonna happen over night. I know its hard to be patient, and you want to start the losing game but it will happen. We didnt all the weight over night so it wont come off over night. Your swollen and your body is healing give it a few weeks before you start weighting yourself for realz. I am 13 weeks post op started at 322 and as of today i am 250 70+ lbs down and i didnt really start losing til week 3-5. Just relax rest and sip sip sip -
We need to find another word for it, I hate calling it a tool but people who know I have the surgery feel its just a magic cure. I was 322 begining of january of this year I am 250 today, i work out and run 3-5 days a week and struggle with the mental talk to keep myself motivated. Being called a tool simplifies what in actuallity is a huge life changer and possibly fatal. I am sorry for your loss hopefully we can find a word that suits our situation.

Ideas for what to tell people?
apelt001 replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe honesty is the best policy, i work in a group whos pretty close so everyone was supportive. Yes they ask alot of questions and want to know what i eat and so forth. Just do what feels right, tell them or dont. -
Dont worry get back in the game, 3-5 weeks down the road this will all be a distant memory. Alot of ppl think theyll never eat those yummy bad for u foods ever again. Well never say never key is moderation and the frequency. The only really bad for me food i really have is a skinny cowb choco bar during my tom i am 13 weeks out from vsg i go to the gym 3-5 days a week an run 3-4 days, down 73 pounds. Just remember dont over do it stick to the plan, its best in the end for pre op diet.

Hey I had the same thing, I had my vsg on jan 29,2013 I am down 70.8 pounds and mine is pretty much gone. I noticed at the first 30 pounds it going down hope that helps itll go away! No more humps for us!

Woot super exciting! No more staples! -
Susie you can do it my motto is learn from the mistake and move on. Your doing great by recognizing this and getting on track tomorrow, plus only one bad moment in 8 months holy amazing!!!! Tes I made it think I am gonna eat it and I dont care if I get sick the I bit into it and started thinking about tomorrows weight so I spit it out. Currently I am on and amazing losing phase an I do not want to stop now, I was stalled 2 months ago post op and the last month I have lost almost 20 pounds alone. I didnt want to give in knowing my luck that toast would sent me on a carb spiral. I dont eat any carbs anymore I get maybe 17 g of carbs from my protien bar but thats it. I had just finished t the gym with my run and really wanted bread to give me a boost. Ate a babybel cheese instead.

Well I am amazingly proud of myself I made a slice of white toast slathered cinnamon sugar butter on it smelt soooooo gooooood took a bite chewed it spit it out an threw out the slice. So happy to have self control now!

No problems you can do it, youll learn quickly whats allowed for your sleeve and not. Try new things veggies, marinades, cheeses yogurts. I am still having fun with those to keep things fresh and non repeatative! Youll do just fine keep posting and if you need any future advice you know where you can ask! Bestof luck

Im 12 weeks out i can eat roughly 3-5 oz depending on if its a dense protien or soft and my rule of thumb is 10 min per 2 oz. so about 20-30 min

Losing will power fast
apelt001 replied to dfdscott's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so hang in there the first few weeks suck second you need to have a serious convo with the wifey. She needs to understand that she doesnt have to like your choice but you chose this surgery to live a longer healthier life with her and her support is important. Thats just kinda mean.... Ask her i she could munch else where. Communication is important and telling her how you feel may help out. Best of luck, by the way this was not a mistake. It will change your life. -
A Lil Confused..Calling All Experienced Sleevers!
apelt001 replied to biggie_smalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sit down take 20 min to eat I used to set a timer on my phone. My satisfied feelin is a burp and my hollow feeling goes away. -
My rules personally are 1) no soda or carbination ever!!!! 2) keep sugar low 3) keep protien at 60+ a day and keep carbs to less than half 4) cals under 700 a day I am 12 weeks post op and unfortunately i have a sleeve of steel meaning i can eat it all no problems, its not so mch as whats a no no its more of what will help you out the most. I made the commitment that if it doesnt follow the gram of protien per 10 cals I dont eat it, or if its not helping me out its a no go and i dont do carbs i have little to none. I am down 68 pounds in 12 weeks so im doing something right.

The best advice you can give a fellow sleever
apelt001 replied to beba238's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My best advice is to not be controlled by the scale I know it is difficult to want to lose lose lose but if you weight in the morning and youre up a few oz and your whole day is ruined thats no way to live. Only take to heart a scheduled weight day, don feel like a failure just look at your logs of food and excercise and ask these simple questions.1) did u get your water in 2) did u excercise at least 30 min 4-5 days that week 3) is it time to up the fitness to something more challenging 4) how are the carbs fats and sugars on your log ( keep carbs and fat to half your protien intake) 6) is something stressing you out? Resolve the issues bc stress will effect your weight loss! Hope this helps best of luck! -
Ok for one DO NOT let anyone speak to you like that you are paying them they work for you second speak to whomever is in charge of the office and have this person held responsible if they are doing it to you who else are they doing it to. Its not right your not a child and have limitations you cannot control. Hope everything pans out alright and listen 25 pounds lost is better than 25 gained good job hun!

Ugh im 12 weeks out and im just so not in the mood like ever i have to really focus and pay attention to my fiance to even become remotely intrested just too tired from working out all the time having a two year old and just not being comfortable with my new self yet after 68 pound loss.
-
I have had this convo with my fiance bc i am sooooo self consious he said babe men dont see those flaw you women do if we love you then we dont see anything wrong with you! Im like awwww made me feel better its all in our heads honey. Have fun!

My dr said as long as youre out of the hospital ( apparently theyve had someone try in the hospital) and are not hanging by the rafters getting your freak on then whenever you are comfortable doing so just go easy and listen to your body. I waited 2 weeks my pain meds did nothing for me so it took a little bit to not be in pain.
-
Ugh I am with ya girl, my best advice look into poise washes for vaginal dryness eh Ive had no luck if ur concerned about dryness during sex go for some ky water based unscented to not throw off ph. Best of luck glad im not the only one.

how does it affect your relationship/marriage afterwards?
apelt001 replied to OnlyDownFromHere's topic in The Gals' Room
Well in my case my fiance and I have been together 5 years we have a 2 year old and lived together 90% of that time. I feel like we are changing everyday, we are learnin to talk to each other almost becoming reaquainted with each other. I was sleeved jan 29 im down 68 pounds and I am no longer who I was before surgery. I am a gym-holic working out 3-5 days a week I run and am setting goals for myself, I am so confident now where before I was a couch potato who needed to be cared for now I care for myself and I care for him. We are a work in progress everyone has bad days but ours are becoming fewer and far between. Everything changes this surgery will eiter make you stronger or break you. Thats my experience best of luck. -
I was sleeved jan 29 and I was 322 jan 1st day of surgery i was 309 today I am 256 down 68.2 pounds! Down from 3x top to 1x top 26 pant to 20 pant ! Win!

Waffling, Waffling, Waffling
apelt001 replied to CharmingTortoise's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you need to take a step back forget what others are saying and listen to yourself because no one but you can make this happen. When I chose to have wls I was 1000% certain for my choice bc I knew I needed the help. If you feel you can do it on your own and maintain then more power to you if not then get the tool to help you maintain. There is no shame in needed help, with whatever you choose your family should be supportive if not then they will have to learnto be. Its your health ridding on your successes and failures not theirs. Best of luck do what feels right!
