Just Had My Surgery Today.
azhoselady replied to Sara75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am okay. I just don't know how much moving I am suppose to be doing. I get up and walk for 5 minutes around my house every hour is this not enough? struggling to get all my fluids in! -
Hi All, I am day two after surgery. I have some pains I assume from the gas. I have cut my dr pain meds down a lot. Instead of 15ml I am taking 7ml and the pain isn't bad just really sore where the port site is. I had a scare yesterday and called my dr as i felt really hot flushed on my face and body but my hands and legs were freezing. I had a 99.8 temp going on so he sent me to the er. I was really scared but they gave me fluids and said they thought I was dehydrating. I had 1 shake yesterday and i had 20 oz of water and about 4 ounces of broth so I know that isn't much. I haven't logged into my fitness pal yet put I am sure I only had about 300 calories yesterday. how much walking are all the newly banded suppose to do? I get up once an hour and walk around the house for about 5 minutes. I am tired I don't know if I am doing this right or not. I thought I was suppose to rest. I am mostly in my recliner on line and watching tv. what was everyone's first few days like?

Hi Everyone my name is Tammy. I am a 44 year old Mom of 3 and I was banded on May 18, 2012 yep two days ago. My highest weight must have been 200lbs. But for a while I ignored the scales. When I did get on them it was 199 and I freaked out that was in 2003 and I went on Atkins and lost 50lbs, but like most I put it all back on because I had no tool to stop me. Over the last 8 years I have done most of the big diets out there. My wake up call came last year when I was diagnosed with sleep apna, PCOS and told I was morbidly obese. That is a slap in any woman's face but I also saw My ex husband (father of my boys). Died at the age of 44 of liver cancer on Christmas Eve 2011 and I decided that I am going to loose this 60lbs I have been toting around. My sons need a healthy Mom who is around from them. It also helps me a lot that I met the love of my life in 2009 (on eharmony) and we were married in 2011! I have a wonderful Husband and I want to grow old with him! My doctor has put my goal weight at 128. I am 5' 3". My goal is to be healthy, I haven't picked a weight but I am giving myself small goals... 1st is to get through the next few days and I hope to be 10lbs lighter in 30 days. I started preop diet at 187 and day of surgery I was 180. I would be happy to see 170 again. Honestly I can't imagine 140 yet its been too many years... Myfitnesspal name is azhoselady...... please feel free to add me! I find I really need this support more than I thought I would.

I had my surgery at noon on the 18th too! I am taking the pain meds every four hours.... just decide to use it to 5 now instead of 4 and so on... Plan is to move to liquid tylenol on Sunday. Feeling fine except I am a little sore on my left where my port is. Good luck to all my band buddies -
I am walking and all but have yet to have any gas pains. Did they start right away shy? I had one Jello and one twenty ounce bottle of Water. whats helping me is the pain meds and sleepping in my new leather rocker my hubby got me.

Hey Pam, I am not in Denver but just wanted to say HI!!!!! Welcome. I am a self pay too but I am in Arizona. Best of luck to you!

Hey Jenn, I really like the atkins shakes the best for taste. They DON'T have as much protein as the EAS or Premier, unjury, etc.... I just bought some of the premier ones at costco (on sale right now) and I like those too. I have the unjury powder and I like the chocolate splendor a lot and the chicken soup is great for the liquid phase. I haven't had the vanilla or strawberry yet. I really think this is a trial and error for each of us. I have bought most of the ones talked about on here. I greatly dislike the muscle milk light. yuckie to me. Hope this helps you some, good luck!

Hey Ladies, I am soooooo sorry. It was a crazy day. I did the psych apt at 7, then 7:15 am the ultrasound on my gallbladder and then then walked me over to the surgery center (same facility). I was okay till I got in their and then the nerves kicked in bad. Luckily they were great and got me in bed fast. The anesthesiologist was fast and they rolled me in. I had a bit of acid in my stomach and I have to take a pill everyday to reduce it. It shouldn't stop my surgery. I woke up fine felt a bit drunk. Then got in the car and came home. My Mom and Aunt came to "help" me but I was waiting on them. I woke up the next day with a bit of pain in my right side and I started my period. I don't know if it was the biopsy the Dr did or the period that caused the pain. Anyways no hiatel hernia so that is a bit of a relief. I am hoping that I will do good and won't be dying in pain. I sort of think my pain tolerances is high. I hope so anyways! Thanks for asking and checking on me. How are you guys doing? Hope everyone is having a wonderful Mothers Day too! Tammy
