-

Summertime Liquid Calories Help Me Stay Cool And Refreshed !!
Passionatehrt replied to bigenuff's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you heard of Mio...they are zero sugar, cals, & carbs...There are a ton of flavors...you squirt them into your water. I also drink Powerade Zero and Wylers sugar free koolaid stuff...make a big pitcher of it. -

Well...if you choose to do Atkins counting cals doesn't work but a regular low carb where you avoid sugars, flour, breads, potatoes, rice, and pasta you could probably do that. Get your fiber in somehow...things can get bad otherwise.

That's awesome! And the cottage cheese, strawberries and watermelon are things that I will be adding soon here. Also, greek yogurt as long as I can find one that has low enough sugars.

No problem...you should make your goal of 10 lbs in no time. Last yr I did it and lost 9 lbs in the first week. I do recommend ketosticks...you can get them at any pharmacy. It takes me about 4 days to get into ketosis. The strips tell you when you are in ketosis.

Mersaydes1--Yep...carbs like bread and pasta only get me into trouble. I havent had them since being banded and I intend to keep it that way. Im going to pretend that they will make me get stuck. And cutting out the sugar helps tremendously. Im constantly looking at labels to note the carb, protein, and sugar content. For now, I am not counting cals but intend to do that when Im off Atkins induction. You might want to check out their website for guidelines and food lists or southbeach to me is good as well. Southbeach is lower fat, low carb. They do healthy carbs as well. I havent seen a nutritionist so some people might not agree with my choice to do Atkins but maybe you could visit your nutritionist as well.

What does it mean to PB? What does it stand for? I figured it was some for of regurgitation or throwing up.

You're right...old habits die hard. I will try to take smaller bites. I spent all of my money on this surgery and cant screw it up. Thanks.

What does your doc recommend? My doc says protein first, the veggies, then healthy carbs if you still have room. I choose to do atkins until my band is at a good enough restriction. Im limiting myself to 20 net carbs a day (carbs minus fiber equals net carbs). Protein and veggies and some dairy for now, fats such as butter and mayo play a role in atkins as well. I am also taking fiber supplements. I will eventually introduce nuts and berry fruit and cantaloupe. The weightloss is pretty rapid when doing these low carb diets. I like this thread because many of these people were doing Atkins. I just kept losing it...it was buried so I wanted to bring it up on my list.

Thank you for the explanation. I keep seeing it but haven't ever seen it spelled out to know for sure. Im banded...just three weeks and haven't been chewing small bites, like you mentioned and haven't had an issue but I suspect it's because my band only has a tiny amount of fluid in it. I need to start practicing though in preparation. I do try to chew well and try to drink after. Thanks again!

I am replying to my post so that maybe I can find it easier. I'm slowly reading through it. Thanks!

Now that makes sense...I do believe this is true. Thank you for proving this insight.

I was on a 1200 calorie diet before...I lost barely anything. When I started to eat about 800 calories a day...weight finally started to come off. Right now I'm doing Atkins so I'm not counting cals.

Omgosh...went to the link. Unsure of what Im suppose to do. Here's my stats...Im 31. 209 lbs and 59.5 inches (4'11.5") bmr is 1687.65 At this time I'm sedentary. I would like to calculate the lightly active rate as well.

All right!! You are just about to your month end goal. Good job!
-
How do you figure that out? Man, I thought I had this down.

Let me get this straight...So my calculation is 1687. That is the calories I need to maintain my weight right now...right? If I want to lose 2 lbs per week (3500 x 2) that is 7000 cals. 7000 divided by 7 days is 1000. I would need to subtract 1000 cals per day leaving me with 687 cals per day. Am I right?
