  1. I've been stalled for about 3 months now. I lost the first 70 lbs almost effortlessly; but then my weight has come to a complete standstill. I've been okay with that, but now I am ready to lose again. I've stocked up on the protein drinks, and plan to just go back to the beginning and start with the drinks again. I hope that, along with increasing my exercise days will jumpstart my body to start losing again. My goal is to lose 35 more pounds. Does anyone have any other ideas of how to get out my stall?
  2. Hello, I am four weeks post op and feeling good. But, for about four days, I have itched everywhere! I haven't changed soaps, shampoos, deordorants or anything like that. The only thing that has changed is my diet. Has anyone else experienced this??

I Need Some Advice - Wait Time For Colonoscopy

I would go directly to the source. Call your hospital's endoscopy center and ask if the wait time is really that long. Most hospitals have a response time that they have to try and make. ( I'm a CT tech and we are directed to get pt's in within one week and often within two days!) And, also schedules are made deliberately with some flex time so that there is space for emergencies. If the doctor that your PCP referred you to really is that busy, the staff at the endoscopy center should be able to recommend someone that is both good and easier to schedule with!

    I Ate Pop Corn;( Help.

If you chewed well, I'm sure your sleeve is fine. I can completely understand how it happened, mindless eating is a big factor of why I weigh what I do. Just take it as a learning moment...next time you are going to the movies, pack an snack and take it with you. If you know that you have a healthy alternative already planned you won't be so apt to dig into the popcorn! Planning ahead is one of my biggest challenges, but I am determined to do it right this time!

Good News @ 2 Week Follow Up

Wow! You're doing great! I'm 2 weeks post op today also! I'm going to see my nut tomorrow and start on mushies! I'm really anxious to see my weight on their scales! I hope it matches the scale at home! Keep up the good work!
  6. You look great!! Keep going and continue to do what you're doing!!

To Tell Or Not To Tell?

I understand what you are saying! I didn't tell anyone that I was considering having the surgery until I was sure that was what I wanted to do. I've been overwhelmed with the support and best wishes that I have received. People have said some really nice things, like they admire my courage, and they are proud of me. But, I think that you have the right to your privacy as well. If anyone asks how you lost the weight, you can honestly tell them that you are watching what you eat, and making some positive lifestyle changes!! It's a work in progress!!
  8. Hi, I am 9 days post op and I'm feeling really good. I've been able to get most of my water in and my protein also. I just have to remind myself to make sure I have some at lunchtime. I don't seem to feel very hungry!! ( I hope that lasts!) But, I would have to say that the most difficult thing is that I have a family and they have to eat!! My husband, who is wonderful, is a terrible cook! His cooking skills are limited to frozen chicken nuggets and fries! So, I have been cooking their meals too. I honestly have been alright doing this through the pre-op diet and the past week. But last night, I made them steak with roasted potatoes and a garden salad. I really, really wanted to indulge!! I'll be so happy when I advance to the soft food stage...cottage cheese and scrambled eggs sound delightful! I know that I'm experiencing head hunger, but that doesn't make it any easier!!

    Pre-Op Diet Started Today Help

Congrats on beginning your journey! I'm one week post op and still on a liquid diet. Does your doctor allow you to have yogurt and/or pudding? You can add unflavored protein to it (mix it with the milk first before adding the pudding mix) and it makes a good source for protein if you get tired of the drinks. Before my surgery, I lived on tomato soup and puddings!!
  10. Hi, How much weight should I have lost during the past two weeks? I've lost 8 lbs since two weeks ago, and I know that I have followed the liquid diet. A couple of friends have told me that they lost about 20 lbs during their two week pre-op diet. But, neither of them had lost any weight since their first appointment and I had lost about 16 lbs since first meeting with the dietician and now my total weight loss is 24 lbs. Is the previous weight loss why I haven't lost very much during the past two weeks?? Will 8 lbs be enough? To be honest, I'm so worried that I won't lose weight after the surgery, especially since I haven't been able to lose much the past two weeks!
