Need Some Counsel, Courage And Encouragement
betterthanbefore replied to SkinnyAnnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those feelings are very normal. I got all my tests done and at last minute decided not to do it. I have heard great motivating stories and bad ones. You have to feel it in your heart that it is the best decision for you and if not, i would put it off until you are sure. -
Hormone Grehlin Also Responsible For Memory?
betterthanbefore posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just reading in another forum that the hormone that is cut off with stomach is also responsible for memory and there have been people that are having trouble remembering things. Is this true!? Anyone else post off with same issue? -

Wish They Would Come Out With Something New Besides Sleeve.
betterthanbefore posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why cant they just create a pill that expands in your tummy to make u feel full instead of the pill. Why can't someone come up with a true plan of meals to loose weight? So fustrated. Weight loss is so difficult. -
I have heard from lots of folks that due to the rapid weight loss, skin gets saggy and your color does not look good. Is that true? I guess age would be a factor also. Thank you for your reply. I am 36 so would love to hear from folks my age.

3 Years Or More Post Op...memory Changes?
betterthanbefore replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The question was for preop people of three years or more and if they have noticed any memory changes...since grehlin is very linked to memory....the surgery gets rid of the biggest grehlin producer of the body so i imagine that would be tied to memory loss. -

Migraines 5 Months Out
betterthanbefore replied to apebrown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really bad with migraines. I would get them on one side or over one eye. I bought a water container from walmart that holds 8 glasses of water. It is easier to measure from there and u can see if u r drinkjng all water. No more migraines for me since then...sleep is also a factor -

Thinking I Am Just To Nervous To Go Through With The Surgery :(
betterthanbefore replied to Izzysnanny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What made me chage my mind were several things. I am a very intensive researcher and i research like crazy before i put any pills, vitamins, choose hair dye, surgery etc...so i did my homework with a lot of passion on this topic. I did all my exams...endoscopy, nut..and psych...however as the day was approaching, i started getting deppressed and tried to figure out what lead me to want to cut out my stomach as a last resort of loosing weight. I analyzed that the stomach is the biggest producer of the hormone, grehlin. Even though it is produced in other parts of the body, the stomach is the biggest producer. That hormone is responsible for memory. So i didnt want to take the chance of getting alzheimers later in life. I also learned so much with my NUT that i began to think...i am such a successful business person. I am a great mother and wife and have many successes...so why cant i pt some effort in actually excersicing and learning how to eat right instead of going to the extreme of doing something that is not reversable. Alsoall the juices and enzymes will no longer be in the stomach and the sleeve is a fairly new procedure. There is not enough data to plot the results of people for more than six years. As soon as i made the decision not to get it done, i felt like a huge load had been lifted from me. Those were my reasons. I did not want to risk it. I rather challenge myself to the weight loss and put a bit more effort in learning what, how much and when to eat.
