I started with attending a seminar with a friend in St. Cloud, MN. My friend had already had the surgery and was happy with her docotr, the facilities and her outcome. Although she had the bi-pass.
After meeting with the Surgeon I went home to think, I called the facility up to set up my next appointment and was horrified to find out that they were closing the clinic and the few steps I had were already lost, and STILL had to pay the bill.
So I searched and found other facilities, after some reasearch picked Fairview Southdale. I don't have any complaints about anything, they have handled everything, explained everything, and I feel 100% confident in them.
I am done with all my insurance required items and the forms have been sent it - they have untill friday April 6th to accept it or deny it. I am confident it will be approved.
So thats my story for now..............................

Update - my insurance denied me, however I followed the appeal process and 2 weeks later I was approved with a surgery sate of May 10th - 2 weeks from yesterday - excited :-)
Update - Had my surgery May 17th 2012 - Fairview Southdale, Minnesota
3 days and 2 nights in the hosiptal - the staff was wonderful, hospital was clean - I did have some discomfort but thats to be expected on any major surgery.
Trying to follow the recommended foods and scheduling, somewhat of a challenge at first - I just get sick of food so fast.
Walk, sip and rest - thats all I need right now.
More info as things come up to debate - please feel free to ask me anything - Amy

I came home last saturday after 3 days 2 nights in the hospital - really no complaints. Pain was managed, food was on track.
THEN went to my parents, things for the most part ok except my sleeping was thin a hour here an hour their.
On Tuesday I decided to head to my house. Getting really sick of the same foods, feeling nausea (still taking 2 nausea meds and the patch) nothing satifies me, my stomach is always growling. Not sure if thats just gas and it's just upset with the foods I give it - or I am just that hungary.
So last night I went to get a few groceries, picked up a few things that may not be 100% acceptable. But I can't sit here and cry for another week until I get to move to the next step.
Still only sleep for 2 hours at a time tonight. Have 1 pain med left - going to call doctors office in the am and try and figure out how to make me more comfortable. At my post op doc appt which was on Tuesday - they said everything looked normal and my attitude issues were to be expected.
Bottom line - yeah kinda cool I lost 17#'s but I suffered along the whole time - is it worth is? would I recommend it? - all YTD.
Thanks Amy

Had my 2nd post op appointment today - went well lost 15 #'s since my weight before surgery I guess if I am confusing people on my weight loss it's because I gained 13# in the hospital - but I'm not counting that anymore - I was 237 pre-op and now 222 - thats 15#'s
Anyways get to pureed foods starting today - feeling lots better, not as sad anymore, more positive for the future, not feeling so limited. I think the last 2 weeks were depressing me because I was dehydrated and just not able to get all my proteins and water down.
I looking back I would make sure I had a little more info on the mental side of things - I am sure everyone is different but I got extremly sad, I worked thru it wil help of family and friends - but I would never wish those feelings on anyone.
Looking forward to 2 weeks of new foods :-) and never want to see butterscotch pudding again - LOL
