Regret even after initial "omg, what have I done?"
KayBaby replied to EnigmaInKY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My regrets or buyer's remorse was short lived, but I did have them. I was sleeved at 272 lbs on 4/23/12. At first the food restriction was shocking, my brain wanted to eat more, but tummy screamed, "no room!" I learned to only eat what volume felt ok, and save the rest for later. As the fat melts away, for me the biggest visible difference was at 4-6 months out when my clothes were no longer wearable. Today I am at 198-Onederland!!! People are shocked at my visible change, I get called thin or skinny, I can cross my legs, curl up in a chair like a little kid, I feel wonderful! The lbs are moving slower now, so I must pick up the work outs to get to goal. I now eat what I want, but in smaller portions, and although I don't say it, am nauseated and shocked at the heaping plates I see people devour. My normal has changed and I only regret that I did it at age 50 and not at 30! Many yrs being more active with my kids and not being "the fat mom" could have been nice! Thanks for listening, guess I needed to vent. Best wishes, take the vitamins, increase the protein and water, and move! Moving has been hardest, no time, blah, blah, blah..... and my body has lost weight despite my laziness! I will get moving and rock my sleeve in 2013! -

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
KayBaby replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 4/23, highest wt 272, today was 207...so 65 ish down! Went from size 22 to 14/16....giving away clothes! Not very consistent on the exercise, but getting more motivated now that I can see One-derland around the corner. Good news, I can eat anything in < 3/4 cup portions! Bad news, I can eat anything... :/. I must use this tool wisely before honeymoon over and get more active!!! I would really like to lose another 35...best decision EVER, wish I had done it about 15 years earlier. -
My surgeon is Dr Gersin @ CWM, surgery was at Mercy. Good luck and remember to sip, walk, rest, repeat for that first 2 weeks!

What Does This Surgery Do To Relationships?
KayBaby replied to Minckle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry this has happened to you! Be strong and do what is right for you and your baby. It sounds like you are a great mom. Best wishes with the therapy also. I do agree, this surgery is so life altering that it can shake things up for sure. My 23 yo marriage is fine, but I do find I now have more confidence than before and tend to stick up for myself more! If that becomes a problem, oh well....I have been there for hubby and kids and now is my time to take care of me! -
I am waffling between 45-47 lbs loss since pre-preop and sx on 4/23. When I hit 50, I think I will also treat myself to a pedicure!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
KayBaby replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ignore the haters, too bad there's not a surgery for negative, nasty, jealous attitudes! You are right on pace to getting the body and the health improvements you want! Stay positive and keep up the good work! Every pound is a big deal, we didn't put it on overnight and it is not logical that it could come off over night. Small steps in the right direction....we will all get there! -

Has Anyone Ever Regretted Having Surgery? Be Honest?
KayBaby replied to Karen2012's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Kiwi, I have learned that chewing very, very well and going slow is a must! Put down the fork between bites and talk, read if alone, etc. I have not been able to eat raw broccoli yet, tried it twice in Chinese dishes, and if not cooked well, it just sits in tummy and eventually comes back up. Beef is still hard to digest and not worth the bad feeling, chicken, turkey, fish go down easily. If I eat too fast, when that last bite can't go down, it will come back. You learn what your sleeve likes and does not like pretty quickly. I will try broccoli again, but not til 6 month mark, as instructed. Feeling full now is in a different spot, more at bottom of esophagus, not in normal tummy spot. That was wierd, but adjusted easily. Putting on clothes and having them be too big to wear is so worth the other changes. At 10 weeks post op I have no regrets! -
Has Anyone Ever Regretted Having Surgery? Be Honest?
KayBaby replied to Karen2012's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
No regrets! Down 45 lbs since 4/23, and love loose clothes more than I once loved gorging self on yummy food....if I want something, I have a small bite, not a plate full. The thrill of eating is gone, and I do miss that. I now just eat to live, before WLS I really did sometimes live to eat, food was what I thought about a lot! -

Scars, Stretch Marks And Bruises... Oh My!
KayBaby replied to readytobeslimxoxox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A plastic surgeon once told me that or is the "massaging in" of the Mederma that gets blood flow to the scar that helps most, so massage gently for best results! -

Feeling Nauseous Right After I Eat
KayBaby replied to pinky62611's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 4/23/12, and I feel that yuck feeling if I do not chew really well, or if eat too much too quickly, it is still awkward to bite, chew, chew, chew....swallow, wait, wait, wait....helps if having conversation and put fork down between bites! -
Personally, I have done well at 6 weeks, but it is a bit shocking and disappointing when eating a nice meal, and you kinda forget your sleeve and suddenly realize you can only eat a few small bites. Your head wants more, but nowhere to put it! But the slimming feeling is sooo worth those type of ugh moments! Planning helps-I get a go box and eat on it again, and again later on! Put down the fork between bites and talk, etc so you do not eat too fast, have it all kinda overfill your sleeve and then feel like you swallowed a golf ball. Your stomach is a skinny banana now, not a small football! The pros far outweigh the cons so far for me!

Congrats! sip, walk, sip, rest, sip, sip, sip!

Stretched, Saggy Skin -- Try This!
KayBaby replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for that tip! I am down only 29 lbs since highest 5 weeks ago, but can see lots of saggy skin appearing all over:(. However, saggy skin does not cause the health issues I was being threatened with, so no regrets! I also need to exercise more to tone.....have been lazy. -
Wow Pixie, you go girl! That gives me So much encouragement since I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and just gained back 2 lbs, so net loss is 272-247, so 25 lbs. I am also still a size 22, although getting loose, I so want to get into a 14-16 and shop regular stores! Please keep me posted as we have similar stats...how much are you walking, working out? That is my weakness, still feel heavy and tired:(
