  1. I have a bridge on the top front 4 teeth and have been through surgery twice (Lapband in Aug 10 and then revision May 29th) and each time I told the anesthesiologist about it and nothing happened to them during surgery.
  2. I know that my metabolism is not slow- my nutritionist testing it before surgery and she said its actually high. Im losing about 1 lbs a week too at this point and GRRRRRR.
  3. So I was told by my doctor and the bariatric coordinator that in their experience people who had the band and are revised to the sleeve tend to lose weight slower than "virgin" sleevers. Im 6 weeks out and have lost 24 lbs (but that was all weight that I gained after the Fluid was taken out of my band because it slipped) and the scale is just moving so slow and its frustrating. There ARE other signs that Im losing weight- clothes are fitting better and Im having to get new clothes. But I want the scale to reflect the same. For those who are farther out than me, PLEASE tell me that it will come off. Im just a little frustrated at this point and needing some encouragement. Thanks!

    Appeal Was Just Submitted...

    Thats awesome! Congrats!
  6. well poo. Was hoping not to go through it since I already did one round. But if thats what its going to take for me to get skinny then I will deal with it.
  7. I was just wondering if I will go through a 2nd round of hair loss with the revision surgery? I had some hair loss after the band- it wasnt that bad actually. It was like post-partum hair loss for me. But was just curious if revision-ers have to go through a 2nd round of hair loss?
  8. Connie- I gained 24 lbs from the time my fluid was taken out of my band and when I started my pre-op diet. It was about 3 months but holy crap how did that happen? Oh yeah...but have been the hamburgers, pizza, ICE CREAM that I hate. It sure was good but I regret it now. I have about 3 more pounds to lose before Im officially back to where I was before the slip.

Too Much Scar Tissue For Vsg?!

My doctor did tell me that there is of course an increased risk of leak due to scar tissue. WE discussed VSG vs. RNY and ultimately I decided VSG was right for me because long term is safer than RNY. I didn't want to deal with malabsorbption or dumping syndrome. I had my band removed and revised to the sleeve in one procedure on May 29th. It took 2 hours longer than normal because of scar tissue but surgery went well and Im not having any problems.
  10. Love this post. Im 3.5 weeks post revision surgery and there are people who had the same surgery date as me and have lost more weight. I have lost 21 lbs since surgery which is awesome but Im also in a stall and start to wonder if Im doing something wrong. Im still on a pureed diet so im hoping once Im able to get more calories in then the weight will start coming off. I too was warned about slower weight loss than virgin sleevers so I just hope that i dont get too impatient.
  11. OMG- I HATED my drain. Such a pain in the ass. I was told that if there was mucousy stuff coming out at the site that it was normal. I got mine out 9 days post op and I was so glad to have it out. I did still have pain for a few days afterwards at the drain site but it got better.
  12. WOW! What an awesome list. Im 3.5 weeks out so haven't experienced a lot of positives yet other than I have lost 21 of the 24 lbs I gained back from when my band slipped and they took out all of my fluid. I've been warned that I wont lose as fast since im a revision surgery but I HOPE that I can say the weight melts off of me at some point. Im 214 now and would LOVE to be 175 when we go to London/Paris in October for our 10th anniversary!
  13. So im 7 days post op and starting to slowly feel better. I still have my drain in and cant wait to get that removed on Friday. Im not having too much pain anymore- mostly at night when its harder for me to get comfortable. One thing Im surprised about is that Im TRULY not hungry. I remember after lapband surgery I was so freakin hungry like 4 days post op. I am getting tired of the clear liquid diet but i can manage another week. Im ready to move on to my regular Protein shakes that I can make with milk and looking forward to some sf pudding too! Oh and Im down 11 lbs since surgery! YAY!

    Getting Pissed Off!

This is one case where having the band will help me out when Im able to move on to regular foods. I got used to eating small bites and taking food home. And I dont ever really remember being mad that I couldnt eat a whole lot- I mean, thats the point to having WLS is to reduce portion sizes to help us lose weight.
  15. Have you tried gas-x strips? And getting up and walking often? I know it probably hurts to get up and walk but trust me it will help with the gas pains tremendously! I have had 2 c-sections, lapband surgery, and then this past tuesday my band was removed and revised to the sleeve. I did have a few periods of really bad gas pains in my chest and shoulder but the simethecone (Gas-x), pain meds, and walking helped so much. Now im not really having any gas pains- its more pain from the incision sites.
