:biggrin: Last May I had my Band placed I love it My sister just had one placed abot 9 weeks ago she lives 3 hrs away and her surgeon put in a 10cc band same brand my question is what is the deal? why do some go with 4cc bands and others go with 10 do you loose faster or better with one or what? Iam just wondering if any one knows the the deal I would like to hear it. BTW I do love my band sooo glad I had it done and Iam looking smaller these days. Julie:lol:

Hi and congrats on the band, well every surgeon is different in how they do it. My Dr will only do .05cc;s to a time no changing her mind near as I can figure they go by a guide from the compnies that make the lap bands they put in but dont expect much they really must do it slowly building up to a spot thats perfect for you. Hi There, Wow I was surprised, I too have the band and Dr Toder did mine, I just love her but i do have to say dissapointed in the way the practice runs like it is si hard to get in then they change your appointment and set them further ahead. I had my band placed on May 15th it too is a 4cc band nd i have like 2cc's in it my last fill was in January and have done well. I think I got too much last time and well any ways when i went back in Feb opted to not get another fill. I really still had good restriction. My next appt was suppose to be may 9th they called last week and moved it till the 16th of may and I know I cant go that long! Just the past week I have been starving and going hungry cause Iam scared to death to gain. I have never gained always lost good. but I do know Iam kinda at a stand still here and I dont like it! well I called Toder's office today and talked to one of the girls and she said they had noooo way to get me in sooner unless some one cancelled and that would be quick notice I live 2hrs north of her office. For the love of God why cant they train another one in there to do Fills? Ticks me off that you can never get in there. And then when you do they change it. They need to do something diffrent. Well Andrea dont get too upset the bands are finiky they have minds of thier own and each person is diffrent in how it works too. Keep on pluggin its gonna work. Julie

Iam very glad I have the band I love it! It does have a mind of its own thats for sure. I think I have found my sweet spot my last fill was about 4 weeks ago and I am still tight. I have to be ever so careful and some times cant eat any thing, just have a drink of milk.lol but hey thats ok too. I some times dont think I am loosing fast enough but my weight loss team says iam doing great my average is 1 and a half too two lbs per week iam down 65 lbs since surgery in May of 07. From a size 24 too a size 14 and they are loose...........cool huh. Well I would love to hear more from May 07 Bandsters and how they are doing.

I am hoping some one can help before I call my surgeon? Tuesday I had my 4 th fill each time she gives .5cc's always have done fine. However on the third fill I finally had good restriction and went 6 weeks and was scheduled for my 4th fill which was just this past Tuesday. So I am now up to 2 cc's in my 4cc band. I have had restriction but just last night I pulled a good one, we had company over for supper and I tried to eat a little porkchops baked in the overn and potatoes and peas well after the 2nd bite iwas full and started burping and excuse the grossness sliming.....BAD:eek: Well I have done this before and it passes. I have been sick since supper last evening now almost 24 hrs:help: Even sips of something send me in to burping and sliming and I just feel uncomfortable. So what is this do you think I am too full"my husband will kill me if I am":rolleyes: Soooo do you all think I am to restricted or did some thing else happen and if so what? Also why wouldnt this have happend days ago it had been day 5 since the fill why would I be too restricted now and not like the day after? I am hoping some one here can help I f I am not better by tomorrow morning I am going to have to go 150 miles to see her. What would you do? Thanks in advance, Julie:embarassed:

Beleive me you will know! you think you can eat and when you do you can only eat a very little bit and you have to eat it really slow. Its hard to explain but your band will not let you eat what you think you can and want to.. I love that feeling. As they say chew chew and eat very slow that has been a hard thing to teach my self but you have to do it or you pay big time. Good luck. Restricton Rocks.........

Ok Fills, I had my surgery in May the 11 th to be exact and I currently have 1.5cc's in my 4 cc lap band. I did get good restriction with the last fill 6 weeks ago and am due tomorrow for my 4th fill I am hoping for even better restriction. I am waiting for that sweet spot and think this one may well do it.? I do love my band tho:) I amlosing ok and I walk every day so I am losing inches.........:clap2:. I seem to be losing a lb. per week wish it were more but my diatician says I cant be irrational or else!!!!! Wish you all luck will be in touch. Julie Down 40lbs;)

Mee tooo! My surgeon wont do more than she wants too I have done ok since I had the band In mid May, However just had my second fill and feel no restriction I just had the second fill last Friday. I too am beginning to get real discouraged with the whole thing. I walk 3 miles every night and am working hard for the weight loss. Then I think I could have done this on my own because I am not getting restriction. My first fill was late to begin with due to my surgeon just being careful so there for I was 9 weeks out from surgery before I got my first fill! Then on the first fill she put .5 cc's in my 4 cc band noooo restriction so last week I tell her that and ask how much are you giving me today? .5 again and at that she said you arent changing my mind! so then I ask what if I feel no restriction and she says she will give me another fill in 3 weeks. Well then I go to schedule the appointment before leaving and welllaaaaa she is on vacation then so I have to wait 4 in a half weeks again! Ok I know I am ranting but we all paid alot of money for this insurance or not. We did this to help us loose and when do the Dr's listen to us after all it is our body we know when we arent restricted. I can eat quite a bit and have to be careful its terrible. Her answer to that is well you knew goin gin to this it is only about a pound a week,Yup whatever! sometimes I get so frustrated. I am thinking of finding another Dr. I like mine ok but she is just too lax on the fills. to date I have lost 35 lbs and feel I should be 10 lbs ahead of that. Am I wrong or what? Ok thanks for letting me vent let me know what you all think.

I would like to ask you soem questions regarding Dr. Toder if you go to her. I live her too she is so down to earth and I feel very comfortable with her but wanted to ask you some questions if you have had the band done with her?

:clap2: Yes I had surgery In May with Dr. Toder, She is a very good surgeon and is right up front with you and is also very cautious. I amgoing through a little depression here so you may have to bear with that. My pre op weight was 230 lbs I am now 207. I really dont feel I am where I should be and offer any advice regarding that. In just a few weeks I will be likke 12 weeks out and feel asthough I should have lost more by now? Any way I think Toder is great but shewont give you a fill until at least 6 weeks and I wasvery late getting one then she will only put 05cc's in a 4cc band for the first fill. So I am here with out much restriction at all! I know they have to be carful or we could get sick but I called her office to get in before the end of August for a fill and they cant do it she is away mostof the month. So I have to wait even longer. I just feel I should be further ahead then I am? Will you be having your surgery in Bangor? They do have a wonderful program and they are all wonderful but be leary getting a fill is like hell. Hope to hear from any one with insight.:help:

Hi Everyone! I just have 5 more days to go until Iam banded I am getting so excited............. I keep reading all of your post and I know about the gas pain because my daughter just had her gall bladder out laprascopically, same amount openings and yes the dreaded gas!she stayed here with me while recouperating and the first night as the worst but by day 3 she was over that pain the first 24 hrs was the worst for her.So know now what helped her and i can try it. I just cant wait to be banded. My surgery is Monday the 14th of May and frst thing in the morning. I will keep you informed. :faint: Julie

Hi All, As you can see iam new here. I have been reading all over here and thought I might as well register as I hope to be banded soon. I also will be asking a ton of questions. I live in Maine and am going through an awesome program to be banded we have a center of excellence here in Bariatric surgery. I am Opting for the Band here we have to go through alot of hoops so to speak. we have a group meeting and support group all in one day. then a couple of weeks later we had to go to one of 2 diatician meetings and then a physical thereapy meeting and finally on March first we go to have the Pscyh. evaluation. Then when that report comes back We will be scheduled to see the surgeon, who they tell is is very busy she is the only one here to do the band and does it roboticaly. They told us "a friend and I are in this together" that it will take 4-6 monthes until surgery so we started in January the first actually so our diatician told us by the end of May we should have surgery. I am so so excited but this darn before surgery diet is tough I have really been working at preparing for surgery, reading these posts in diffrent forums are so informative. I love the before and after pictures they are such a good way for us to be inspired. Believe me you will be hearing from me lots.

:mad: Thanks for your reply. and yes you are worth it I am sure it must be hard here where we are they told us outright it was a 25.000 dollar operation!:faint: When do you think you will have yours done inApril?
