    Introductions

Hi everyone! My name is Katie.... I was banded 3/22/12. My highest weight was 300.2 lbs (Jan. 2012). I have always been a horrible emotional eater and an unhealthy two year relationshiph completely sent me over the edge and I ballooned up to my highest weight ever. I ditched the ex in December and made the decision to focus on me and stop literally kiling myself. I feel like having this surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made and I would do it all over again if I had to. I'm still learning about the band and how to make it work for me. I have had one fill (1.5cc) since surgery and I do feel restriciton but feel I am able to over eat at times. Myfitnesspal has been a lifesaver for keeping track of calories and protein. I'm not really sure what my goal weight is and am just basing it on how I look and feel.... honestly I can't imagine what I would like under 220 lbs because its been so long. My myfitnesspal name is ktlynn447... feel free to add me. The more support the better!
  2. So... I go for my first fill next Friday. I have been extremely frustrated because in the last 2 weeks I have lost absolutely no weight! I watch what I eat and log everything religiously on myfitnesspal. I've also stepped up my game and have been exercising 4-5 days a week. I have been extremely hungry especially this past week... not sure if its related to needing a fill, hormones from new BC, or the fact that ive been over a month cigarette free. Anyone else experience this?

    March Bandsters!

My 2 week post op appt was this afternoon. I am feeling great and am down 13 lbs since surgery 3/22/12... a total of 38 since i started my weight loss journey in January. The doc said I have probably 1.5-2cc in my band right now so I may very well be feeling resrtiction. My first fill is scheduled for May 2nd so we'll see how the weight loss and hunger are doing by then!

I Had My Lap Band March 19Th

I'm glad I'm not the only neurotic nurse! I asked my surgeon the same exact question about getting all the gas out lol. My post op appt is tomorrow and I can't wait to tell him he certainly did not get enough out because the pain I had in my left shoulder/neck was the most intense ever. I plan on doing the couch to 5k program also after my sister pops her baby out This site has been such a lifesaver and very supportive.

    Nutrigrain Bars

Before I was banded (3/22/12) I loved the Nature Valley protein bars (dark chocolate and PB).. 10 g protein, 190 cal, 12 g fat thought. Not sure how well those will go down though because they are kinda sticky... any thoughts??

    March Bandsters!

My 2 week post op appt is Wednesday. I am so freakin hungry I can't hardly stand it! I've been sticking with yogurts and soups because I don't want to do too much to soon and mess something up. Today is the first day that I have been absolutely miserable and hungry.
  7. The crackers were mush by the time I had them or I would've been concerned. I've been sticking with greek yogurt for now to get my Protein in.

    Couch To 5K App?

I have the iphone 4... I love the Jog Log app. It has a couch 2 5k program built into it (haven't used it yet). I use this app for all of my walks. It does the time, distance, average speed, mile/min... among other things. You can program your height, weight, age for a calorie burn estimate (I usually wear a polar ft4 HRM). Oh.. and I think the app was free

    March Bandsters!

I was banded 3/22. Yesterday was the first day I felt like myself... and didn't look pregnant from all the bloating (I was a burping/farting machine). My doctor told me to advance when I felt I could or every 3-4 days. Greek yogurt and applesauce have been pretty satisfying... but I'm dying for something crunchy!

    Still Swollen..

I looked very pregnant and still do slightly... and I was banded on 3/22. It will get better... happy healing
  11. Ok.... I am post op day 8 and finally feeling great. I still have almost no appetite but have been doing the whole full liquids thing. Right now I'm having about 5 oz of tomato soup with some townhouse crackers mashed up. Everything is going down great... crackers are very mushy and I'm taking small bites. For all of you more experienced Lap Bandsters.... what does it feel like when you actually get something "stuck"? I'm trying to prepare myself and know what to anticipate lol. Thanks!

  13. I took liquid Tylenol for the first 2 days. I had a script for liquid Percocet that I never got filled... just because im a dumba** and bullheaded. My worst pain has been from gas in my left shoulder/neck but today it seems to have almost subsided.

    Finally Getting Some Protein!

thanks... i was able to choke down about 2/3 of it but i guess thats better than nothing... no i just feel like a bloated SOB
  15. Ok.. so I am post op day 5. Up until today I have been feeling like total s**t. Last night was bad because of all the gas pain in my left shoulder/collar bone/neck. Up until today I haven't been able to stomach anything more than water, apple juice, and a tiny bit of tomato soup once. I made a strawberry smoothie this morning with greek yogurt and my unjury unflavored protein powder. I have to admit... I thought it would taste way better lol (certainly doesn't taste like the smoothie from the coffee shop). This came out to be about 16oz after all was said and done. Do you think I'm ok if I sip slowly... or is this too much to take in? I'm still trying to decipher the pains in my belly but I think I'm catching on.
