The shoulder pain and constant feeling of something in your throat will eventually subside.. Great Job on starting your journey.. Your on your way to weight loss.. It's been 6 weeks for me and I'm already down 40lbs..
Today was my first fill and I can say it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.. They put in 5.5cc's in and now I feel full even after a few sips of water.. I'm so happy I'm onto this part of my journey now where I can start eating solids again.. 6 weeks of liquids and creamy soups, I can now say I'm done with that.. It's been 6 weeks and I'm already down 40lbs.. YAY Me!!!
They tell you to wait on drinking after you eat because it turns the food mushy which then causes it to go through the band faster resulting in you becoming hungry faster..
The surgery went well. I remember waking up feeling like an elephant was sitting on my chest. They told me that was the gas that was pumped in my stomach and that it would go away. It did and I can say I was one of the lucky ones to not have any gas pains. So I ended up with a 103.5 fever the morning after surgery and had to stay an extra day. Came home and started to re-cooperate. I couldn't figure out why on day 5 I was in just as much pain as day one if not more. I was infected around my port and was leaking out of it. Gross I know but very painful. Today is day 3 of my Z-Pac antibiotic and the pain went from an 11 to a 1.5. I'm so happy to be feeling better and have the worst behind me. Now to get through the next 5 weeks of creamy soups and pudding before my first fill. I can't wait to chew food again..
Thanks Stephyander, I was thinking it was gas.. It may just be that!
Stephanie22085, the lap band is a band that they put around the top part of your stomach to create a tiny pouch.. During the weight loss process you can only intake what that little tiny pouch and hold which is about 3-4 bites of food.. Then your body will digest it slowly so you feel fuller longer. Before surgery you have to go on a complete liquid diet to reduce the fat in your liver.. "During this time I was on the liquid diet for 6 days and I lost 18lbs." Then 6 weeks after the surgery you go on a full liquid diet eating a bigger variety of things until you heal.. Then you go in for your first fill where they fill the band with saline to make it tighter because now it's time to move onto solids.. It does not hurt to have a fill.. If you want to learn more you can go to a support group in your area.. They are held everywhere.. Go to Lapband.com and see if there is one in your area.. This is how I found my surgeon..
