Everyone is on a liquid diet after surgery for at least a week. I would think one would lose 10 - 20lbs. Has anyone experienced a weight loss of more than 10lbs. the first week. I saw a man on TV who says he lost 30lbs his first week. After all we only are eating about 200 to 500 cal each day the first week. I know some people will probably drink too many calories and not lose as much. It also depends on how much weight you need to lose too, I would think. What has been your experiences.

Lost One Pound In Two Months
earthsmile replied to Nikki Riviotta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a trainer last year, and she told me I would stop losing weight if my calories got too low. She suggested I add either an extra Protein drink (100-120) cal a day, or add a fruit. She stressed drinking the protein immediately after my workout ( within 30 mins.) She also said to drink a little protein 30 mins. before the workout. I had good results until I couldn't afford the 250.00 a month anymore. Hang in there. Perhaps your dietician can help. -

So happy for you. I was on my way to bed, but came here first to check on you. I know you will do well. I read your posts about your fears. I have them too, and I don't have my date yet. Should know in a week or so. You get rest and enjoy your new adventure. -
I met with the nutritionist yesterday. I have lost 6.5 lbs (9 on my scale in underwear) and BMI dropped from 70.3 to 68.0. When I met with the surgeon in March, he told me he does not require weight loss, but it would help my lungs during surgery. Well, of course I want to help with that!!LOL. I went back to my carb addict's diet. I like it because I can have any carbs I like once each day during my reward meal. I have lost many times with this, but usually stop when I get busy. There is a lot of planning. You have to keep lots of Protein and veges on hand. The first 4 days are heck, headaches, weakness etc., but the more Water you drink the better you feel. By day 5-7 your carb cravings are so low. I didn't even want dessert by day 5 even though I could have it. I had a glass of wine instead. Even when the scale does not move, the inches are falling off. My skirt fit much better this week. Anyway, the nutritionist told me it was good I was already doing low carb, because it will keep me from having the cravings as many do since I have gone through the withdrawls already. I really hope this helps. I was eating lots of protein in the first 4 days( 2 cans of tuna at lunch with 3 cups spinach, cheese, and dressing. Instead of 2 Snacks I had 6 in the early days, but that was ok as long as it was not carbs. I usually had turkey and cheese roll ups with lettuce or spinach.) By the 4th day I was down to 3 meals, and one snack. My late night Lays chips cravings are gone. There are many low carb eating plans out there. Choose best one for you. If you want to get a jump on it before you are banded, it may save you a lot of heartache after banding. I hope it helps me too. I am waiting for approval. I could be banded within the next 6 weeks. The very best to everyone. I am excited for all of us.

C25K Question And First Nsv!
earthsmile replied to MoreThanJustaPrettyFace's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Congratulations on your weight loss. Did you lose all 30 lbs in the 9 days? I am not banded yet, but I would listen to the doctor. Ask him if you can do light weights at home in a chair for support, or squats or maybe wall push ups. You are so inspiring. Thanks for sharing your success. -
Omg, Don't Like The Shakes, I'm Sooooo Hungry!!!
earthsmile replied to SashaWLS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Vitamin Shoppe Bodytech brand. The chocolate is great. So is the vanilla. It has 24 gm Protein and 3gm carbs. I haven't tried Cookies and cream. I did try banana from Isopure, it was ok. Buy the smallest amount you can until you know if you like it or not. -
Met with nutritionist and psychiatrist yesterday. Now waiting for insurance approval. I have been on a low carb diet for almost 2wks. I lost 6 lbs, and my BMI dropped from 70.3 to 68.

Good for you. You are being true to yourself while eating less. My trainer told me it is better to eat less of what you like and enjoy it, rather than substitute it for a less enjoyable item. I too enjoy bread. I like bread with a min, of 5gm fiber. It is so chewy. I don't have a cholesterol problem. It is 154, probably because of all the fiber. I also like greek yogurt and kefir. I don't always buy organic, because it can be expensive, but I do like organic almond butter. Keep up the good work.

How Is Weight Loss For Those Over 350 Lbs Or Bmi Over 50
earthsmile posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I just joined today. I had my consult last week. Now have to meet with nutritionist and psych. I want to lose 20 lbs before surgery. My surgeon is Dr. Larson in Lake Worth, Florida. He doesn't require weight loss, but says it is easier on your lungs if you do. I will try. I want to know if you lose your appetite, and how fast larger people lose weight. Also does anyone prefer one band over another: Realize or lap band? How is energy level after surgery? Thank you, Louisa -
