I was told no coffee as the caffeine is an irritant to the stomach. Decaf is ok. I had been a serious, daily coffee drinker for years an the withdrawal was awful. I had a 5 day migraine and ended up having to take one day off work because I felt so sick and weak. I have been off coffee for a month now and don't even miss it. I even bought a small latte this weekend and didn't finish it. Plus all the calories And the money that I save makes it worth it!

Bumps In The Road To The Losers Bench
chicagochic posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So my surgeon pushed my surgery back for two weeks due to a personal emergency. New date is May 30th instead of the 16th. I'm a bit down about it but not devastated. It actually works better for my work schedule. I'm just so excited about my decision to have this procedure and resolved that it IS going to happen that I'm just taking everything in stride. It may take a bit longer, but I will get to the other side of this surgery soon enough! Anyone else have any setbacks? -
I'm having mine done in Chicago on May 16th as well. Not nervous at all. Just anxious. I can't wait to get on the other side of this surgery! I'm headed to the Bahamas next week so that will help some of the time go by quickly. I would have had it sooner but didn't want to be on any diet restrictions while I'm vacationing. I need to be home first to get used to the changes on my eating habits. Best wishes to all the May sleevers! (-and everyone else too!)

Lozenges/hard Candy On Post-Op Liquid/mushy Diet?
chicagochic replied to ElegantThumbs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hard/soft foods really refer to the form they take as you digest them. Hard candy, if not swallowed whole, isn't a hard food. It melts before digestion. Your concerns here should really be in the sugar/calories in the candy. If you can switch to sugar free lozenges you should be fine. Always talk to doc though to confirm. -
There is actually a section called band to sleeve. I only use this app in my phone and it is on the first sign on page. Check those main tabs. It's closer to the bottom.

I don't sleeve for another six weeks but would like to start my shopping for pre and post op foods. Any "must haves" that you found? I have to do two weeks liquid diet post and am so scared I will be intolerably mean and snappy. Good thing i live alone! While I will have family in and out for the first few weeks, I would love to just make sure I have everything I need on hand. So please give me a good shopping list! Also, does anyone think I need to have someone stay with me for a few days?

Any May Sleevers Here?
chicagochic replied to chicagochic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know being nervous is only natural. I know I made the right decision because the alternative is to do nothing and then nothing will change. I only wish I had done it years ago. I hope your nerves settle a bit but just know its natural to be nervous. This is life altering! -
New here. Where do I find the Chicago group to sign up?

What Will You Do With Your Extra Time And Energy?
chicagochic posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So maybe this is the clinical therapist in me but I have to wonder what I am going to do with time that I would normally be using to think about food. I'm not having surgery until May but love to plan ahead. I've started a new hobby and hope to add one or two more. I just know this surgery is going to give me the energy and drive that I have been struggling to maintain for the last few years. I also really want to run. Jog. Maybe enter a marathon! I live downtown Chicago on Michigan avenue and there are so many marathons that run right past my building and I would love to be running/walking with them rather than just cheering them on! I've tried to attach some pictures of my fist new hobby, jewelry making. I love crafts and have made some very cute bracelets. -
Sending prayers and blessings to you and yours!
