3 Weeks In Surgery - Weight Is Stalled
Zeus replied to hgor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably are not doing anything wrong. It is a normal part of the weight loss. I am stalled for more than 2 weeks now. It seems that the body needs time to rearrange and adapt to the new situation. Don't lose hope. -
Its Finally Here... Headed To Be Sleeved!
Zeus replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats and good luck. Now you have a new lease on life ! -
Am I the only one who still uses the pill crusher almost 8 weeks post-op ?
-
Tmoss, Congrats on our surgery. You are less than 1 month post op. you should be on a liquid diet i guess. Don't be mad because you can't eat regular food now, your stomach cannot handle it yet. Bu the day will come, in just another month or less, according to your surgeon's and Nut instructions, you will be able to eat small quantities of regular food. This period will be beyond you in just another month. For irony, when i go to a restaurant with my wife and two daughters, they order regular plates and i order a kids meal !!! Hang in there...

Lost about 25 kg in the first 4 weeks. But now officially in a stall.
-
Welcome pharoh, almost same time post-op. Could you shed more light on your op ?
-
Thanks SweetSusie, I will definitely try that. Do you have any other recipies that allows to cross that puree gap, to the real world. Thanks again

As you all know, in the middle east many things revolve around the dining table. Since i cannot and do not want to eat, i find the gathering around the table ridiculous. Everybody is eating, munching, drinking, and i am not. What i do is get a glass of Water with some ice, and add a slice of cucumber or carrot to give it a flavor, and i keep sipping for the whole gathering. Since i do not eat, drink, or smoke, i get bored very quickly. To be able to whistand such gahering, i need my brain to be stimulated all the time. I have not yet reached the weight that allows me to freely and regularly exercise, all i can do is walking on a treadmill and only a couple of minutes on the elliptical machine

I am officially in a stall mode. I just started the puree phase too, but do not see many options in that area. I already took some kobeba (2 fingers size), tried hummus without oil. I cooked some puree of potatoes, but it was a flop as i added too much milk, and what i got at the end was more like a soup. I also eat some nuts (about 5) for a snack, or some low fat cheese. I hope this stall phase washes away.

1 Week Postop And Having Difficulty Getting My Liquids In - Help!
Zeus replied to ursiboo72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats ursiboo72 for your surgery and success. Talk to your doctor about it. I suggest you use a sports bottle (a regular water bottle with a special nozzle on top that does not allow air to go into your stomach while drinking). Drinking water is EXTREMELY important because it aids weight loss and prevents formation of stones. -
Congrats tmoss on your surgery and results. Your loss is usually a percentage of your pro-op weight. You loss comes from many source : Interstitial fluids, fat in the liver, muscle mass and finally fat from all over the body. You are probably on liquid post-op diet, so you should do mainly liquids. What worked for me is clear soup (fish, meat, chicken without the actual flesh) I did add very little noodles. I also did vegy juices, diluted fruit juices, and mixed juices, all natural, freshly prepared at home. In the morning I make the juices and fill-in a couple of bottles and store in the refrigerator for the day. It gives and excellent boost of vitality. The corner stone of my post op diet is the protein shake that I prepare with skimmed milk and 1/2 a banana.
-
Liquid protein is the most important of my diet. I take it in the morning with milk and half a banana. I usually have a soft egg 2 hours later. It seems thought that you have to read the label, because not all protein shakes are equal. Once I did not have access to my regular shake, so I found a different brand but it had the same protein amount for tripple the amount of calories, and only have the ounces.

Hello all and congrats for your weight loss and steps in the right direction. It seems that the middle east now is becoming infested with the obesity disease due to a change of lifestyle as well as the rapid infiltration of fast food. It has been a feasting period in Egypt and I cannot stop realizing that people are eating like beasts, it is almost like a feeding frenzy every time that food is served. But then I remind myself that not long ago, I was eating as much, and frequently enough I was eating more than that. It seems that the surgery or the pre and post op diets, change our perception of food quantities to a large degree. Keep it up and keep in touch.

Mimo, I was hospitalized for 5 days post-op. one day later after being dismissed from hospital, i was on Clear Liquids till now ( so almost a month). My surgeon stressed on Protein drinks immediatly afetr the 5 days. I take "perfect whey protein" (from el ezaby phamacy 2lb vanilla container @350L.E.). Without the protein i am too weak, and cannot barely move. I also get yogourt, labna, feta chese, 3-4 tea spoons in a meal. Ia also make/drink veggy juices. Could you share your story ?

Egypt here too. Hello mimo, congrats for your surgery.

Not Sure Where Im Going...... Scared
Zeus replied to louise aussie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Keep up your fluids, especially your Water intake. If the pain is at your stomach level, I think it is normal. Don't panic, but be vigilant. Watch for strange signs:excessive pain, fever,... Goodluck. -
Nervous But Very Excited Buy My Up Coming Surgery
Zeus commented on Dixie's Skinny Wannabe's blog entry in Dixie's Skinny Wannabe's Blog
Hello Cat, I am 17 days post-op, and I do not regret it. The benefits are tremendous, and the goal is worth the journey. You will eat very little, you will not fell hungry, you will not hallucinate about food, you will be ligher. The best time to do it, is when you are all clear from any medical condition/complications like diabetes, heart condition, pulmonary condition,... Do it while you are fit, do not wait until you become impaired with other medical conditions to do it. Good luck -
Hello all, I was looking for this group for quite sometimes. I too have more than 200lb to lose, and would like to read your stories and share mine. I was sleeved on March 11 and was hospitalized for 5 days. I did not have a pre-op diet, so all my loss is post-op. The worst time (in terms of pains/discomfort) ever was the moment I woke in ICU, with different drains, canulas, and incredible pain. I went into surgery at 9:30am, last clock glimpse I remember was 9:45. I woke-up in ICU at 19:30. I was cold, very cold. they covered me with 2 blankets, and gave me some sedatives. First moment of relief came on the second day when they removed the tube/hose from my nose. 17 days post-op, I still feel some weak pain at the site of surgery (I have 11 wounds/laparoscope holes !!!). I shrinked a lot, but I feel weak. Although I am lighter, I have less energy. Two days ago I started feeling a kind of pain in the left kidney. I think I have to drink more Water. I am stil on my liquid diet. Best think about the surgery is that I feel no hunger, and when I do, a sip of anything including water, calms this hunger down. Not only that, but I also stopped hallucinating about food : Pre surgery I was always hungry, and I always had day dreams about food. I had a grazing problem, starting 8pm I always ate something every 30-45 minutes, and it alternated between sweets and salty food. Whenever i saw a fast food ad on the TV, I immediately go to the kitchen and start a food frenzy !!! I use to wake up in the middle of the night 2-3 times to eat. But now, all that is HISTORY. Cheers !!!

I have a german SECA scale. It reads up to 200Kg (440lb). Prior to my surgery and till yesterday the scale displayed "STOP" in a clear indication that I exceeded its limit. Today March 25 and exactly 2 weeks after my surgery I see "200.8". I am very happy with this reading !!!
