Is There Anyone Else But Me Whos Doctor Doesnt Have Them Drinking Proiten Drinks?
Nicki D replied to Michellefaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by the nut to drink protein drinks and to try and get in 60 to 80 grams a day. This is hard for me to do as they are thick and it takes a while to get down. So after a week I am lucky to get 2 in. I use Spiru-Tein they have many flavors. I am on day 8 of 21 yes but that is what my doctor wants ugh !! -
Pdxman Explains it very well

I chose sleeve over bypass as this is what my doctor recommended to me, as it removes totally about 85% of your stomach the part that has the hormones telling you that you are hungry. Where in the by pass they leave the stomach there it is just off to the side sitting there. As Jewels said you can alway get the bypass later if you do not loose the weight that you want to. I know people that have had the sleeve done and have lost over 100 pound in a year.

Week 2 Post Op, Should I Start Shopping?
Nicki D replied to anniew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too will be shopping the local Goodwill after surgery. It is the best place to go when going through sizes. -
I'm on day 7 of the pre-op diet and feeling tired today. But I know it is all worth it, I to wish I could do this without the surgery I can for a while then it comes back. So this is a must for me to become healthy for myself.

So sorry I hope you find a way to have the surgery.

Right now I am drinking 3 protein drinks a day preop I really like Spiru-Tein they have several flavors to choose from. I use milk in mine have not had the courage to try water yet but I am on the liquid diet right now so I do not think the milk is going to hurt me. -

My Surgery Is The Day After Tomorrow. Oh My!

I am May 3rd and I also wish I could have done this earlier But hubby would not have heard of it. Always said you can do it on your own. Well he is no longer living so I can do it now . He died of brain cancer so now hi is no longer suffering. It is my turn for my health I am so happy I am on day 6 of of the liquid diet. I was bad yesterday and all I did was drink water and did not get my protein in. Sipping on a Spiru-Tein Cookies and Cream protein drink now and it is pretty good. -
The way I am getting use to sipping is by using a spoon. I know sounds silly but hey it works. Its a lot easier on the protein shakes.
-
You are welcome. I like the peaches and cream so far the best, there are some sites that you can buy single servings to try them before you but a container.
-
There are many online sites to get the Spiru-Tein or maybe a local health food store may have them too.
-
I got mine at a Vitamin store here in Tucson but you can order from Amazon, they have several flavors.
-
Make sure you get in your protein and water it helps a lot. I have not had the surgery yet but my doctor is pressing the point of the protein shakes and water.
-
I wish you well I am on day 4 of my 3 week liquid diet. I am scheduled for May 3rd. It is not to bad. The Protein drinks are thick, don't really like jello but better than not having it. I like the Spiru-Tein Protein Shakes. Many flavors to choose form and they are about 21 grams of protein so 4 a day and I am good and pretty full to.

I agree tell everyone the ones that will support you will be there to help. I have only heard one say that I am wasting the insurance money, then I told her its my money I have no insurance. Then what she said what does your husband think about it? Well that would be hard he died 10 months ago so he has no say in it. This is for me it is my time for my health after 28 years of taking care of my husbands health and other family members its my turn and I am taking it. I am so ready to be healthy again. 4'9" 275 BMI 59 I need this surgery So May 3rd is the start of a new me.
-
Prayers are being sent your way. I hope all goes well the financing for you. I just paid for mine here in the states and it is a bit pricey as I have no insurance. But as with you I felt the same way that I am/was slowly dying and I am to young for that so this is well worth it to me. I go in for mine on May 3rd and I can hardly wait for a new me to start. Good Luck

Driving my doctor said about a week for driving, as for work mine said about a month as you are not suppose to bend or lift over 10 pounds as for foods I am suppose to stock up on broth, Protein shakes, Jello, pudding, for the first 2 weeks then add soft foods for 2 weeks then I can try other food but like an ounce of meet at a time. With the soft food you can try deli meat with a little lettuce. All doctors and nutritionist are different so check with them as to what you should do. https://www1.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog This is the site my nutritionist told me to go to and get my Vitamins and Protein Shakes .
