  1. Just got home from the hospital yesterday from getting my sleeve surgery. My husband is eating a burger and fries in front of me and all I want to do is grab the fries out of the bag and eat them! My stomach is full from the chicken broth and Popsicle I just had so what is the deal? I'm really worried because I've talked to other people who say they are not hungry after surgery. Will my taste buds change to catch up with my new tiny stomach?
  2. yes, I think I should take the dogs for a walk when he's eating. Great idea

    I Am Alive

Yes it's great to be alive after surgery! Even though it's safe there is always a risk and always the What If? I'm just 5 days post op- and feelin good. I hope you have Gas X strips--I took a couple of those the next day when the nurse wasn't in the room and I'm still on them. They really help. This surgery involves a lot of upper gas pain which I wasn't really prepared for. Congrats on the start of your new life!
  4. Thanks for responding. Yesterday my friend came over with homemade lasagna and garlic bread for my hubby and son!!, Omg I was dying the whole time. I was full from my shake so of course my little sleeve didn't have room for anymore but it smelled so good... I went into the kitchen and rubbed my finger on a little of the sauce and ricotta and tasted it---yes it was yummy---but they noticed I was gone and called out to me--I was busted, index finger in mouth!! They scolded me and I made a little sad/silly face at getting caught.... It didn't feel so good later though and I'm slowly learning that there's a reason I'm not supposed to eat food right now. Our stomachs have been cut away, then stapled, sewn and glued up--and they need to slowly heal before any food can go thru. It must be so traumatic for the body and here I am expecting normal food, or at least a fingerful to feel fine. Today I'm trying to visualize my ravaged stomach and think abut what will be most soothing and helpful for healing. I'm trying to look at my new sleeve as a friend and I eant to help my new friend heal the best way possible.

    Day 4 Post Op

I too am exactly 4 days post op today--I had the hernia repair also but he said it only needed 1 stitch so I don't think it was too bad. I'm taking Prevacid solutabs to prevent acid, are you? I am burping and feeling pressure after every sip and I'm re-learning how to drink. I love drinking Water and I'm used to just opening a water bottle and chugging but Oh No, that's not gonna happen anymore! I don't think I'm having trouble with the hernia repair, I think it's the new adjustment to our tiny new sleeve and how little it takes to fill it up. I' know I'm not supposed to drive but I had to make a short trip out today and I actually got dizzy walking back to the car---Guess it was dumb of me to go out but I look normal and feel pretty good so of course I pushed myself. Feeling some twinges now and then inside---I think things are getting re-positioned, etc. Ive only been taking pain med at night to help me sleep---he only gave me Tylenol/codeine which is practically nothing but I took some today after my outing when I felt the twinges. I'm drinking my Protein shakes , water, and juice diluted with water. I got some VitaminWater Zero today and a friend brought over frozen yogurt last night. I guess it was kind of cheating but I had some--I let it really melt first but I think it gave me gas so I had trouble falling asleep. I think all this trial and error is teaching us so much---I'm just gonna try to get my 3 shakes in each day---haven't done it yet but need the protein! Keep in touch---you're my anniversary sister!!
  6. Congrats and all the best tomorrow! Mine is scheduled for this week also (Thurs) and so far I'm excited, not nervous, just like you. All the more reason to research your Dr and the program thoroughly---to feel confidence and trust when the big day comes!
