    Dr. Bonomo

Hi, I'm new and I have just made some of my pre-op appointments. I was hoping to ask some questions to someone who has been through all of this. How long does a person keep the band inside of them? If is taken out after all of the weight is lost won't you just gain it all back in time? What happens if you get a stomach virus? Is it dangerous to do all of the vommiting? Has anyone died that you've heard of or had a heart attack from the drastic drop in caloric intake? I have 4 children and 2 of them have severe autism and need to be taken care of for a very long time. I am concerned about not being around for them but, If I don't lose this weight, I won't be around either. I live in the Fox-Valley area in Illinois and I will have the surgery by Dr. Batty in Geneva. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi, I have just been approved for Lap-Band surgery and I have been making all of my pre-op appointments. I live in the Fox-Valley area and I'm going to Dr. Batty to have it done. I do have some questions about things that I didn't see on this sight yet. How long does a person have the band in them? Do you gain weight right back when it's taken out? I was hoping that I wouldn't be hungry but, it sounds like everyone is after the swelling goes down after surgery. Also, what happens when you get a stomache virus and you vommit a lot? Is it dangerous? Does it hurt bad? Has anyone died from the shock of the drastic change in caloric intake or had a heart attack? I'm trying to get as much info as possible. I have 4 children and 2 of them as mental disabilities that will need care for the rest of their lives and I need to be around for a long time. Thanks very much!
