  1. Hi guys! So I'm going in to the doc today for a fill. I've been eating a lot lately like 1600 calories and even two days this past week with 2000! I felt horrible about it but was starving. I've been using my fitness pal and been trying to make good choices (I succeed 90% of the time Id say). I've ramped up my exercise a little more too with biking and walking 3-5 times a week. Anyway after eating like this I actually dropped a couple pounds after a slow few weeks. Weird! Thoughts?

1600-2000 Calories And I Still Lost Weight

Thanks for the thoughts guys! So Much Fun- you're not "raining on my parade" as you called it...I'm certainly not bragging or proud, just found it odd and wanted some input and conversation. I'm also well aware that weight can fluctuate and the 3500 calories contained in a pound. I believe you were on my back on another thread I posted. Where's the love man? I just need encouagement. Thanks to the rest of you that posted in a conversational style, without judgement...I got a fill today. It wasn't my first. It brought me up to 6ccs in my 10 cc band. I think it will help me get to that green zone. Still, I've lost abou 32lbs and was banded 3/23/12
  5. Hi Everyone, For the first time I feel like I'm hitting a plateau. I've lost about 30 lbs (including weight lost in pre-op) and I'm just getting discouraged. I need to keep up my motivation and believe in myself. I've recently started using my fitness pal and I'm trying to track my food to get a better picture of what I'm eating. I stay around 1200 calories, I'm getting enough Protein, but I know I need to clean up some of my choices. I still have a sweet tooth and need to avoid those foods. Also, I'm trying to exercise more, just by walking and bike riding a little bit. It just feels like it's not enough. I think I will also opt for a small fill in two weeks. I have 5.5 ccs in a 10 cc band. March Bandsters, how are you all doing? Thoughts? Advice? I'm proud of what I've done, but it seems like I've only lost about 5 lbs the last month. Thanks peeps, I appreciate it! Starting weight 236 size 20 Current weight 207 size 16/18

    Down A Cup Size

Hi guys, So I've only lost about 30 lbs, which I'm so happy about. My body is changing everyday, all my clothes fit differently. I've gone from wearing 20's to 18's and some 16's. It's a great feeling. But now I've noticed my boobs shrunk! I went from a D cup to I think a C cup. I hope it stops...my hubby loves them!

Scar Tissue/ Hard Skin At Port Site

Hi! I had my surgery 3/23/12. I have thick scar tissue at my port site also, and all my scars for that matter are quite red lately. I had an incident where a few days ago, the port scar started burning out of nowhere. It hurt!! I've had two fills though, and it wasn't an issue at all. Maybe it just has to do with the healing process of our skin. I have thin skin...My scar hasn't burned since. Good Luck! Keep us posted. I'm sure if yours was infected you would know.
  8. So today I went swimming with my kiddos (I still dread wearing the swimsuit), and noticed that my band feels strange when I'm swimming....it kind of tightens and feels like it's floating...Must be the pressure change. Anyone else ever felt this? Also my band sometimes feels tight or strange when I lay down flat. I have a strange feeling in my throat. Maybe it's reflux, although I don't know what that feels like. Thanks Everyone!!

    What Zone?

Loaded questions... I just got my second fill last week. I'm at 5.5cc's in a 10cc band. I am having some constant tightness and feel like I need a bit removed out of my band. The part that I'm confused about though is that I'm feeling quite a bit of hunger between meals. I'm eating about 1/2-3/4 of a cup each meal (3x/day) and eating 1-2 healthy Snacks a day. That seems like the right amount, and I'm not having trouble keeping it down. The good news is I'm losing weight consistently. Maybe I just need to wait longer for me to adjust to this fill. Sometimes i wonder if when they repaired my hernia, it was stitched too tight. This tightness almost feels like pulling down. Okay, I know I'm a worry wort, I over think things. Sorry guys!

    Too Tight?? Idk! Help!

Thanks for all of the input! It really helps to hear from people who get it! I have a 10 cc band. I have allergies and was sick a few weeks ago. So some is probably mucus too. I'm thinking I will take all the advice. Make sure I eat earlier, and wa:)it until I lay down at least 3 hours. Increase my Fluid intake, and maybe have a bit removed. Hopefully I will find that lucky green zone!

    Too Tight?? Idk! Help!

Hi Peeps, I got my second fill Monday, and it kind of sucks with the band right now. Sometimes I don't even know how I feel... Am I hungry, full, stuck, tight? The sensations are so different. I was banded 3/23. I'm at 5.5 ccs. So it seems like I am hungry all day. I am eating within the guidelines I feel, and I have been losing weight as well. Since Pre-op I have lost about 26 lbs. The problem now is that especially at night when I lay down (flat is the worst). I have this awful tightness in the back of my throat (near my trachea) I don't think it's heartburn or reflux. It's almost as if my band pulls down on my esophogus. I've had this feeling most nights and lying on my side seems to help. Standing up almost always relieves it, but this morning, it's even worse. It's like I can hardly swallow. The feeling has gotten worse since the second fill. I mentioned this feeling and the doc thought it might be a mucus plug from drainage that forms at night. She suggested taking an expectorant and drinking ward liquids before bed to loosen it which I have to still try. I'm eating within two hours before bedtime, so maybe that's it? I need help or any input, please!! Has anyone ever had this feeling? Thank you THank you!!
  12. Wow that sounds pretty serious...I'm not too familiar with what happens with esophogeal erosion. What happens exactly? It sounds like it is totally related to the band. PS what does the "pain" feel like?

    Tight Feeling In Throat...

Wow, I'm going through this too...No fun. Mine seems worse at night when I'm laying flat on my back. I'm thinking I need to get fluid removed. How are you feeling now?
  14. I know how you feel...I've been thinking to myself, "I have to keep doing this?" I'm almost a month post-op and I'm getting a little burnt out dealing with this on a daily basis. I just want to take normal sized bites again, and enjoy food the way I used to. I miss that. I'm working on my mental state now. I'm so happy when I step on the scale and see that Ive lost about 22 pounds. I'm not eating correctly yet. I rarely had heartburn before all of this, now I have discomfort a lot in my chest and throat, even on liquids or small bites. I'm hungry sometimes, but feel like I can't eat that much. I have some anxiety about meal times now, like what am I going to be able to eat? Would I do it again? Ask me again in 6 months. If I lose the weight, yes I think it will be worth it...

    Sleeping On Your Stomach

I too had a little discomfort on my tummy. I asked about it, and I think whatever is comfortable is what you should do. The discomfort might be from the port being pressed in a bit.
  16. I had my first fill a few days ago, and now i feel like my lungs and chest area ache. I don't know if I'm just sick. It's not a result of my eating because I've hardly drank much or ate much (I was on liquids and now soft foods). I had this same feeling a few days after surgery. Last time they said it was probably my diaphram healing from the hiatal hernia fix. Anyone else ever have this problem? Thank you all for your advice!! I appreciate you!
  17. I keep reading everyone getting first fills six weeks out, and I'm getting my first tomorrow. It's only been a little over three weeks. I'm nervous about it...I also have the next two scheduled, two weeks apart. Any thoughts? I am starting to feel more hungry and eating more lately, so it seems like okay timing.

    Bandster Blues

I'm getting my first fill tomorrow, which I think is good timing since my appetite has picked up these last four days. I'm a little worried it's a bit early, only a little over three weeks post-op. I'm on soft foods, but have started eating some solids, and as long as I chew and time my bites, I'm okay.
  19. Hi Everyone! I've not posted here yet, but I have been so thankful for the support I've had here just by reading everyone else's concerns and comments. I've learned so much! I have an issue. I was banded a little over two weeks ago. I also had a hiatial hernia repaired as well. I'm on the soft foods phase of the diet right now. I never had any heartburn or reflux issues prior to the surgery even though I had a hernia. Lately, after I eat meals, I develop an awful pain in the middle of my chest. It almost feels like my lungs, but I think it's heartburn. I don't know if I'm eating too fast or eating the wrong foods, I just can't seem to find the reason why. All I know is that I'm almost thinking my band is too tight. Is that possible? I'm rarely hungry and just have a hard time consuming a lot. It's not settling well. I've never thrown up or had anything come up. It doesn't feel like it's stuck, just that pain results. It lasts for hours and hours and I don't know why. I tend to eat the most at dinner, not out of hunger but out of mental hunger (I'm still trying to follow the rules for the most part). I also feel like I still have a lot of unresolved gas/constipation issues. I know I need more Water, and I take colace occasionally. Any thoughts? I just don't know if I'm totally abnormal!
  20. Thank you guys for the imput...after your replies and also reading up in my book, The Lapband Solution, I did conclude that yes, I was eating too quickly and probably too large of bites. Wow! That is not a pain I want to experience anymore. The pain behind the sternum is a backup of food, and my esophogus having to strenuously squeeze that food down. I have been trying to count and make sure I'm waiting the right amound of time, but I see that I need to keep working on it. I'm kind of anxious about eating now...I hope I can learn to enjoy food eaing this way. Practice Practice!
