joyful noise replied to Sherry77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
because I could not walk on an incline, they did a "medical" stress test - injected me with a needle. -

Major Vent - Medical Naysayers
joyful noise replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went for my bi-annual ob/gyn physical. I had a hysterectomy when I was 33 and cannot understand why I have to see a gynecologist at all. She was totally against wls and her reasons were hysterical. I had to bite my lip to not laugh in her face. When she was done, I quietly said, I am glad you don't need to do anything to be healthy. I need help and it doesn't concern you, so butt out. -
Ekg From Pre-Op Testing Came Back Borderline Low Voltage
joyful noise replied to Sherry77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told 3 times already ( in the past ) that my EKG was "weird". I went to a cardiologist after these 3 EKGs and his tests came back the same each time ; some heart damage from years of untreated high bp, but I am ok and my stress test was fine. I am not looking forward to having an EKG done before my surgery, but it is a small price to pay to get help losing weight. -

Just Got Approved Through Cigna Oap!
joyful noise replied to Ready4success's topic in Insurance & Financing
I had to do the nutritionist thing every month for 6 months, they have now dropped it to 3 months; had the psych evaluation; got a letter of necessity from my PCP; got a call last week that they wanted my PCP letter amended and said something about the 6 months of nutrition meetings and it was all messed up. I had made an appt for Dec. 23, when I got there they didn't make it with the nutritionist...so, I had to re-schedule for Jan 9 and had been going every month right through June. I don't drive so hubby took the Dec. day off for nothing. I really hope nothing is now messed up; haven't heard it it was submitted yet or anything else I will have to do - chest x-ray, etc. The waiting and not knowing is the angst. -

joyful noise replied to mjs6206's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My costco sells the Premier ( and not EAS ) and My Sam's sells the EAS ( and not the Premier ). I just tried this Protein powder you add to water: Protein 2 Go. It is kinda sweet but it is clear. -
24 Hour Urine Collection Test = Not Fun
joyful noise replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The office doing my urine test gave me this plastic thing that you slip under the toilet seat; then you pour that into the gallon container. -
Anyone Know About This Protein Powder... Mercola

I was told that maltodextrine is sugar and that is a no-no. -
Salad Dressing
joyful noise replied to SleeveShelly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love honey mustard dressing. Since, we actually use so little, the nut said she wouldn't deprive me of my fave. -
With alot of financial problems last month, I thought for sure I would not be able to have my surgery until after thanksgiving. Well, last night my older car ( which has been for sale for a month ) finally sold for the asking price - the buyer took it to a mechanic before buying and was told the car was too good to not buy. Now, I have the co-pay for the doctor and hospital. Just waiting for the ins approval. Thank You, Jesus! in His timing - I have to keep reminding myself.

I have been eating the foods I don't think I can have after the sleeve. But, I have been measuring them and freezing the rest, in case I might miss them again before the pre-diet for the surgery.

Teriyaki Turkey Burgers 4 turkey burgers ( you could make your own, but I'm lazy). 1 tsp. sesame oil 4 pineapple slices 1 tbs. pineapple juice from the slices . 1 Tbs no msg, low sodium teriyaki sauce/glaze I put the oil in my electric fryer and distributed it with a pastry brush. Fried the burgers 7 minutes on each side. Mix the juice and teriyaki sauce. For the second side of the burger, I brushed the burger with the teriyaki/pineapple sauce mixture. Brushed the pineapple slices with the mixture and broiled for 2 minutes. Add pineapples to the burgers. Makes 4, but I only ate 1/2 ( I am pre-op) My finicky family loved them.

Submitted To Insurance...low Bmi
joyful noise replied to polandspring's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleep apnea test done twice. The first time I had a full blown panic attack and ripped off the mask. The second time, they used nasal pillows and I was fine. Though, I only got about 3 hrs sleep the second time around - no sleep the first time. I think the wires and putty type glue was the worst part. -
Do you really have to have a BMI of 50? My MBI was 39.7. I have lots of co-morbidities: high bp, wacky cholesterol, stage 3, kidney disease, sleep apnea and gerd. I want the sleeve not bypass.

Because I was told caffeinated drinks can dehydrate you, I stopped immediately after that 1st nut visit. I love the celestial seasonings caffeine free teas. I buy regular decaf tea to make my iced tea; since I don't like sweetened, it works for me. My daughter adds lemonade sugar free mix to the iced tea.

I Love Little Kitty Paws Under The Bathroom Door!
joyful noise replied to kamrie37's topic in The Gals' Room
I have 5 kitties and a rottweiler (birds and fish too) and I love when Molly ( my black cat) tries to get under the door. She loves to chase paper, so I wad up the toilet paper wrapper and shove it under the door, so I can go potty in peace. -
Using Greek Yogurt In Recipes

My nutritionist mentioned adding the yogurt to dry Italian dressing. Thank you for the chart. I am really gonna use it. You might also try the Bariatric Foodie website. -

I've always liked the salmon burgers; just bought the mahi mahi on Saturday. But, the chicken burgers at Sam's are out of this world. I use the whole grain buns; I have a wheat allergy.
