Weight Goal, I Am Upset
joyful noise replied to scorpion509's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last week at the surgeons' I was told he would remove 70-75% of the stomach and that I would lose approximately 80% of my goal of 100 pounds. He suggested an RNY and I told him I would not be comfortable with that and still wanted the sleeve. I did not come this far to get my dreams shattered. I will merely diet until the whole 100 comes off. -
I've noticed that since I remove the seeds from the cucumbers, I don't get heartburn.

Welcome! You have come to the right spot and get answers to most, if not all, of your questions. -
I received my pre-op diet pages yesterday. Phase 1 is until they inform me of my date; Phase 2 is 2 weeks before the surgery. Phase 1: Meal portions in half; no starches or sugars; only lean meats or fish, fresh fruit or vegetable with every meal; 2-3 servings of dairy (lowfat milk or lowfat yogurt) daily. Can have lowfat cheese as Protein, but if it constipates you, do not eat it anymore, 2 Multivitamins per day. Exercise at least 5 days per week. Phase 2: Protein drinks, Fiber supplements, 1 cup raw vegetables per day ,100 oz of Fluid, and the barrage of Vitamins. I don't know what CQ10 is or what it is for, but I purchased it today. Since I've already lost 17 pounds, he said he'd like me to lose 5-8 pounds more before surgery.

I finally got an appointment with the surgeon's office. I was so looking forward to getting a date. Now, they tell me they won't schedule a date until I get the clearances from the Pulmonary Dr. and Cardoligist. I have an appt with the pulmonary on Sep 5th and my PCP's office (who gave me a hard time getting a referral for the pumonologist) is now giving me a hard time getting the referral for the Cardiologist. Even thought I had my annual physical on Aug. 7th, they won't release my chest x-ray without another office visit. Money hungry? It's like you take 1 step forward and get knocked back 10 steps. Looking like October surgery. 11 months. Well, I can't do anything about it and had to vent. -

So Frustrated With Scheduling!
joyful noise replied to Nick'sMom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I sooooo understand. I received my approval from Cigna; got an appt with the surgeon & coordinator. She tells me she has 2 openings for 9/21, but.... they will not schedule until I get clearances from a cardiologist and a pulmonologist. I got an appt with the pulmonologist for the 7th, but I have to "visist" with my PCP for the chest ex-ray taken. It has to be within 30 days of seeing the pulmonologist.. The x-ray was taken 8/7...31 days from the pulmonologist appt. After 3 calls (pleads) with the pul, they decided that if I got the xray there by the 6th, they would accept that it was within the 30 days. The Cardiologist (recommended by the surgeon) cannot see me until the 17th. I begged and pleaded just to be squeezed in, but no....he wants to run SOME tests. I told his office they had better all be run on one day. I sent an email to the advocate in the surgeon's office to find out the 21st is taken. He will be "away" for the greater part of Oct, so who knows at this point ? Just waiting and praying. I do not have any more emotion left in me. -

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'd better take a walk when my daughter is cooking. I am pre-surgery and cannot handle the smell of korean food. Then again, I can come home and eat out in the screen room. -
sounds great!

I make salsa chicken - chicken thighs, jar of salsa; cook in crock pot for 3 hrs. Teriyaki Salmon - add 1 Tbls teriyaki glaze and a pineapple slice.

Congratulations! You're on your way.

After a frustrating morning getting a referral for the Pulmonologist, I really was not in exactly a good mood. While filling out the 15 page pre-surgical questionnaire, I got funny and answered "human" to the race question. Now, if they want my ethnicity... Well it was funny to me.

I take boneless chicken thighs and maybe a cup of water and cook on high for an hour or so. Then I drain the liquid and add a small jar of salsa. My family loves it. It tastes too dry if you use breasts. -
Pulmonary Clearance What To Expect?
joyful noise replied to scorpion509's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to have a pulmonary clearance. I sure am hoping they only do the breath test. I've had them twice before and they did not let me get "ready". I did well, but the rotten headache afterwards was yukkkk. -

I had neve considered RNY before. I started out thinking I wanted a lap band; when they told me about the port and refills, etc, I started researching the sleeve. I am happy with my decision. -
