First 2 Weeks Post Op How Much Protein Shake?
joyful noise replied to lindyjpete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 2 weeks out. I was told at least 80 grams of protein. I get 63 from protein drinks and the rest from meat and veggies. It takes me more than 20 minutes to eat and chew the protein for the meal; I don't often get to the veggies or fruit, so I add them to the protein drink. I drink 8 oz in about 45 minutes. It seems like I am eating and drinking all day. -
Congratulations. You're on your way.

No, I was on pureed diet one week out. At 12 days, they told me I could have 1.5 oz protein and 1 oz. fruit or veggies per meal (3) with a yogurt for dessert. I have gotten nauseous twice ( not even able to eat 1 oz protein and forget fruit/veggies) I went back to purees. Trouble is, now all the protein powders make me gag.

Pain On Right Side Only
joyful noise replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any of the problems you have, but the incision on my right side hurts like heck. -
I was sleeved on Friday and came home Sunday night. They had me up and walking 3 hours after recovery. I just walked around my room in the beginning. By Saturday, I was going round and round the surgical floor. My problem was nausea. I was on nausea meds the whole time and came home with a Rx for the nausea. I finally sipped 30 oz on Sunday, so they released me. Painwise, My real pains were Friday night. The rest were manageable and I didn't ask for any pain meds. This surgery was a piece of cake compared to my hysterectomy. It was a tad painful getting up and sitting down, but not intolerable. I put an abdominal binder on when I got home and aside from using my old walker (backwards over the commode) I have had no problems. I do my breathing exercises and leg exercises every hour as required and walk as often as I can. Actually I walk all day, but once an hr, I walk up to the corner and back. Today I actually went down the block to pick up my mail.

I was told to measure by volume and to use a measuring cup that is marked in ounces.

My surgery is tomorrow. I have to check in at 8 AM. I do not have an Iphone so, I won't be able to say..."Hey, I'm leaving now". My room has a computer, so I don't have to bring my laptop. Save me a seat on the loser's bench. Karen

Pain Medication Question
joyful noise replied to taralynneRN59's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am allergic to Tylenol (severely) and usually take Aleve. I was told no more Aleve, so I guess I will have to "muddle through". I told the surgeon this and we'll see what happens after my surgery on Friday. -
(((((Jessielynn))))) Have you called the insurance company yourself?

I was thinking about french onion soup over the weekend.

I was under the impression that I could never have caffeine again. My dr. told me I could have it a week out. Decaf iced tea is so weak.

Costco has the most delicious chicken burgers. I grill mine and have a side salad or some pico de gallo (homemade) -
I use the EAS AdvantEdge (ready to drink). I really hate the taste of the drink, so I add a 1/2 cup decaf coffee and ice to it, making a frappe of sorts.
