A Question hit me while in church yesterday....
joyful noise replied to Newgirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am not Catholic, but I asked my nut if taking communion was ok. She said it's not a problem, even if it is wine. We use grape juice at my church. -
I just bookmarked his website. It has lots of recipes on it. I also bought weight loss cookbook for dummies.

Thank you for that information! I was wondering if I could have watered down carrot juice.
-
Is it ok to have homemade carrot juice, if it is watered down? 8 oz would be about 60 cals.

Protein Shakes Suck!
joyful noise replied to disneyteach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried making a smoothie with the protein powder? -
My nutritionist said to make sure you get the 80 oz of fluid in, even if you have to skip a meal.

Can You Drink To Much?
joyful noise replied to hollirrose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist told me to drink 80-100 oz of liquids (besides ice pops and jello). -
I just finished part 2 of my psych eval today. I met with the psych ( she has had wls ) and she asked some questions about the questionnaire I had filled out beforehand. Then I took a 150 question test ( medical). Today I took a 368 question test ( personality ). Then, she went over the results of the both tests with me. She approved me. My co-pay for part 1 was $36 and today's was $28.

A Little Discouraged
joyful noise replied to Marisa46's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gosh, I thought I was the only one with rude doctors. The Kidney doctor told me at least 4 times at the first appt that I was FAT and didn't I know it? I changed Nephrologists. Today the girl taking my blood couldn't find a vein--- so how come both arms were bleeding? She said if you weren't so fat, we could get to your veins easier. I admit I am overweight, but I do not have fat elbows. What is wrong with people? If they don't like their jobs, they should quit. Sorry, I had to vent today; I am tired of crying over rude people. My Grandma used to say "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything". -

Tomorrow is my psych eval and I am getting more anxious with each passing moment. I just wish the 2 hours were over already. -
Looking for Buddies in Central Florida
joyful noise replied to FloraBama Girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would love to have a buddy/mentor. I am also from Florida. I am still in pre-op mode - finished 4 nut sessions and my psych is on Thurs. 4/19. My dr is Dr. Kim in Celebration. -
I cannot thank all of you for your ideas. I was just eating the yogurt plain and trying to convince myself it tasted good ( wasn't working). I am going to experiment tonight. I am a pre-sleever and compiling a cookbook for the "after".

My Plan Of Attack For Post-Op Food Cravings.
joyful noise replied to slimthickens's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
gomaweye (thank you). My daughter's boyfriend is from Korea. He is coming for Christmas to "meet the family", So I think it might help if I can look like I am making an attempt. He speaks English wonderfully, yet, when they have children, they are going to be be-lingual. -
Cpap - Will I Ever Get Used To This ?
joyful noise replied to Odee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use the nose pillows. When I first started using the cpap, I was really scared. I started off with an hour the first night, 2 hours the second, etc. Now, I find it hard to sleep without it. It was the pits 2 weeks ago when I had a cold and couldn't use it. -
My Plan Of Attack For Post-Op Food Cravings.
joyful noise replied to slimthickens's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought lots of yarn to make a (double wedding ring) bedspread. I also got my books and videos ready to learn to speak Korean. I hope this is enough. LOL -
I know they take the test to make sure you don't have any infections in your stomach. But what is the test like?
-
sorry, posted twice.
-
Thank you for the info. The nutritionist mentioned this test and one that measures your calcium. That seems to be all my surgeon is requiring besides the 6 mo nutritionist visits and the psych eval.

How Did You Come To Your Decision?
joyful noise replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have wanted this surgery for 4 years. I had started making plans, but other health issues came up. I took my husband to dinner and just told him that I was just plain sick and tired of being sick and tired. So, he said to find a new primary, because the one I had was telling me to go to Optifast and not have surgery. I know how to lose weight; I just can't keep it off. My new pcp was excited and congratulated me for wanting to take charge of my health. When I see him, he tells me over and over how proud of me and whatever I need ( insurance wise ) he will take care of. In fact, he knew of my surgeon being one of "the best".
