How Long Did It Take For Approval?

I med with the nut 5 of my six times, we got weighed and discussed health stuff - like fats, Protein, real hunger, carbs, etc. I met one on one for the first 3, these last 3 are group setting with Q & A time. She said the surgeon would like us to lose 20-25 pounds, but if we don't meet that in the 6 month meetings, it will happen when we go on the pre-op diet.

    Money Up Front. Des Peres

My surgeon requires the co-payment and "year after" stuff one week before surgery. Hospital, I haven't heard anything yet.

Mental Issues Connected To The Sleeve

I am bi-polar, even keel with the meds. During my psych evaluation, I was told that bi-polar people do not do well after wls. Seems they feel better after the surgery and stop taking their meds. If I do get more than slightly depressed, I will just call my psychiatrist. I love been on an even keel, so why would I stop my meds?

@augustkiwi You have made my day! I also have cigna and was thinking they'd take a month to 45 days for approval.

    Laxative Question

I used Miralax before my colonoscopy mixed with gatorade; went fairly quickly and no cramping.

    Nausea

I am still pre-op and probably won't have my surgery til August/September. I have been really trying hard to eat right. I've noticed, though, that when I eat some things ( i.e. bread or rice ) I get really nauseous. Is this normal. Since eating right, I have had a lousy cold and now have bronchitis. fun, fun, fun. Has anyone ever encountered this or am I weird?

    Sleep Study On Friday

I had to have 2 sleep studies. I knew I had sleep apnea; it was getting the primary to order the test. I have major claustrophobia (they used the full face mask) and freaked out and ripped the wires off the first time. The second test, they used nasal pillows and i didn't freak out, but I only got 25 mins sleep and laid there with my eyes closed ( pretending I was asleep - like they couldn't tell I was awake lol) until they came in and said it was over. Hallelujah! I've had my cpap for 5 years now and don't sleep right without it. Yet, I am waiting til the day I no longer need it. I get the tubing caught up in my sheet at night.
  14. I was out today looking for a mug warmer when my hubby said, why don't you use the Mrs. Tea as your warmer. You can make your drinks then keep them warm. Cool idea; have not used my Mrs. Tea in 5 years. Now, if I can find it in the garage....

  18. I was at Chamberlin's Health Foods and bought the sample box of Spirutein and hated them all. I got some samples from Permalean and loved, loved, loved the bodacious berry. I use the premium mixes from costco and make smoothies from them. I want to try some clear Protein drinks for immediately after surgery. Any recommendations besides Syntrax and Cytosport?
  19. I was told that on the day I meet for my surgery consult, I will have to take a 3 hr class. Whatever do they teach in 3 hours the week before surgery?

    When Did It Hit You?

Sunday night I watched a program on tv "my 600 pound body" something like that. Each loser on the gastric bypass ( 7 years later ) said they still see the fat person in the mirror. Do any of you see this when you look in the mirror?

    Hair Loss

My hair is very thin to begin with. I bought a wig for the future. I cannot wait to have the surgery and get control over my life. To me, even if I went bald, I'd still be healthy after all is said and done.

    Protein Shakes Suck!

smoothies are much thicker than the shakes; they mix better and I add all kinds of stuff to them to make the smoothies taste good. Since I am pre-op, my favorite is vanilla with honey and cinnamin. I hate the rtd, they are awful. You could also use them to make pudding - gets your Protein and Calcium in. I haven't tried the plain Protein Powder yet. I just remembered...I love the chocolate with raspberries or strawberries.
