joyful noise replied to ChrissyDeex3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on leave for 4 weeks, before the light duty, I was bored because I couldn't lift anything more than 10 pounds after week 3, before 5 pounds for the first 3 weeks. -
Has Anyone Been Sleeved And Works At Ups?
joyful noise replied to ChrissyDeex3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With the heavy items you'd handle at work, I wouldn't think so. When I had my hysterectomy, I was on light duty for 6 weeks (I worked at the PO) and it still kinda hurt lifting packages for another couple of weeks. -

Does Your Sleeve Have A Name?
joyful noise replied to Back~To~Amy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hadn't thought about an appropriate name for my Sleeve. I kinda like Mr. Tums. -
@amytug: I also am taking Lamictal and Welbutrin. I am not stressing anymore about being approved. I had all my money saved for the surgery, then Friday, was blessed with a $700 car repair bill. God will make a way and provide for our needs.

Nectar Caribbean Cooler...yes!
joyful noise replied to takingmylifebacc's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was sooo looking forward to trying the "fuzzy navel". So, I should just order other flavors in my sample pack? -
My psych evaluation was done in 2 parts. Don't worry about it. They just want to make sure you are ready for the surgery and to let you know about maybe being depressed afterwards.

Plugged This Website At Last Behavioral Meeting
joyful noise replied to Jenn31MA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my nutritionist about this site and what a blessing it is. -
welcome aboard
-
I chose to go a nutritionist for 6 meetings, rather than go to my pcp. I was weighed at the meetings and given knowledge of good and bad fats, carbs, etc. I think they ( the ins co ) go by what you weighed at the onset; not what you've lost. We all can lose weight...but keeping it off... Hence the surgery tool for help losing and keeping it off.

joyful noise replied to mome2mad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where do I buy Oh Yea and About Time? I ordered the Chike samples and when i saw the ingredients and calorie count, I gave them to my daughter. I do not want to be having sugar and all those calories. I like the premium shakes from Costco. -

joyful noise replied to Estella's topic in Food and Nutrition
@Lissa, you always have some delightful posts. I am glad I will not have to give up salads forever. Will I ever be able to have homemade stir fried veggies ( I use very little olive oil and blot the veggies gently) ? -
Being transported to Florida from NJ, I had never had grits until I moved here. I love, love, love them and am glad we can have them post-op. yummmmmm

Pre-Sleevers...ask The Surgeon If He Places An Abdominal Binder.
joyful noise replied to beautifulnewme2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if my surgeon places an abdominal binder after surgery or not, so I bought one at Wal-Mart. -
Copay, Deductible Mumbo Jumbo...
joyful noise replied to MrzSongbird's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Cigna and I am hoping that with the doctor bills I already co-paid and the pre-op dr visits will help with the co-pay due at the time of the surgery. I have Medicare Part A ( because I am disabled ) and hope that takes care of part of the hospital bill. Just taking it day by day. -
What Made You Choose Vsg Over The Other Procedures?
joyful noise replied to sleevemeup's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I originally wanted the band, until I went to the info meeting. The idea of a port in my side and fills, etc. just wasn't appealing. And the thought of even messing with my intestines was just out of the question. So, I spent alot of time on this forum and watching videos on you-tube and discussed this with my husband and my best friend ( my sounding boards ) and decided the VSG would be the best option for me. I need the tool; I just don't need malabsorption or dumping. I feel confident with my decision. -
Vacationing With Family Who Doesn't Know
joyful noise replied to carr1015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gosh, being moved to Florida (yuk) I miss NJ. I miss Bound Brook; my family lives in Dunellen and I lived in Mon. County. I am going up to NJ in the fall and am hoping my surgery is over by then. I just plan on saying that after being overweight all these years, I decided to do something about it and am eating better. -
