I had my surgery in Staten Island NY by a great doctor. I am sure he would do your fills.. he charges $110 a fill.

Hi, does anybody snack on WOW chips. I think they are delicious, but I do not know if I should be staying away from them.
-
Thanks for the reply, as far as the olean it does not effect me due to the fact I only have a serving size (maybe 10 chips) that's enough for me just for a taste,, I am trying to see what is best for me when I am in the need for a snack. I think they taste great(My Daughter says they taste like cardboard). With this said I was feeling guilty eating them because they were so good.

I hiccup on a daily basis.. after every mean, but like you Alex they are one or two hiccups then they stop. This for me means I am now done eating.

Is it the same kind of pain you would get if you ran to much.. if so that's what I get, not as much anymore but very frequently in the first few months of surgery. I had my surgery in Aug 2003. It feels like someone is inside my belly and pulling on a rope on my right side. I think I get this if I have not eaten. 2 weeks ago I had it in Atlantic City and I went and ate and I was fine after that. I would advise you call your doctor though.

Hi Ashanti. Dr. Ferzli also did my band on 8/12/03. I have lost 55 lbs so far. I am sorry you had trouble with your port, something I was so afraid of. Things will now look up for you. The beauty of the band is the mere fact you were able to have it fixed!!!!
-
Banded 8/12/03 down 53 lbs. I had thought that was slow also, but seeing everyone elses reply I guess I am on track.
-
The mere fact that my band is ajustable is worth every fill i get. I am 6 months out and down 50 lbs. I have had a slow loss since November, so I knew it was time to be ajusted (3rd fill). SO WORTH IT!!!!!

Why we should ask, "How Many LapBands have you placed?"

who did the study? I was banded by Dr. George Ferzli mentioned in this study. -
Has anyone had there band done by Dr. Ferzli?
-
Hey Bobby, we were banded on the same day. I started at 278 and I am now at 245. I am scheduled for my secons fill on 10/30. I also just joined curves and had my first workout. I am hopeful this will jump start a platue.
-
Shirlee, to small for me also. One of the reasons I left.. My daughter just started HS and I did not want to have to send her to any of the schools on the Island.. Do not have any regrets.. although I am on the Island at least twice a month to see my family.. it's only half hr drive for me. I will keep in touch and hope you do the same.. it's nice to know we are all going through the same thing.

I grew up in Oakwood, I attended IS24 in Great Kills 20 or more yrs ago. You sound like your doing great. I had my surgery on 8/12 I lost 33 lbs but I have not seen the scale move in over a week.. and I am hungry, trying none the less . I have joined Curves so hopfully this will jump start my platue. Again you sound as if your off to a good start. Keep up the good work Laura

Hi Shirleevee, What part of the Island are you on. I was raised on SI.. left last yr and moved to NJ, I used Dr. Ferzli because of his reputation. When did you have it done and how much are you down. I am 8 weeks out and sometimes struggling with not losing enough weight. I actually have gained a lb. I had one fill and I am scheduled for another on 10/30.
-
That is the same with my doc. he schedules fills every four weeks until you feel you don't need anymore.

I have a family member who is intrested in getting the band done. His BMI is a 55. Does anyone know if CIGNA (pos) covers the lapband?:
-
Thank You for your reply Elizabeth. I hope he gets this done. He really needs to.

Nervous About My Primary Visit!!!!!!!!
ldauph replied to bandmenow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did not even need anything from my PCP, my surgeon did all the work for the INS. -
Babs, Thanks for putting my mind to ease. I have to be prepared for this rollercoster we are all on.

Ok, can someone please answer this questions for me.. I am somewhat confused. If my band holds only 4cc's and I am currently at 2cc's 7 weeks out, how does the band work forever? My question is what happens when I am at 4cc and I need another fill? I am half way there now and I don't feel restriction the way I think I should. Sometimes this is very scary. I often think this is not going to work for me.

Thanks for the reply, I was banded by Dr. Ferzli on 8/12/03. I went with him because of his reputation. I had a different doctor in the begining and switch to him because of everything I read about him. If anyone is in the NY, NJ area I highly reccommend him. List several times in the New York as one of the top docs. Thanks

Michelle, Thanks for the pep talk.. LOL , I guess we all need that from time to time.. I don't know why I do that to myself.. I am down 33 lbs and my doc says that I am doing great. Like you said it's a tough time cause you feel you are still eating to much. Thanks to this web site I understand my band better and better each day.
-
Christy, I was banded on 8/12/03 and I am down 33 lbs with just one fill.. I want another as I do not feel that much restriction, but very happy with 33lbs gone forever and my journey has just began.
-
Does anybody eat protein bars in between meals? And also is this ok to do. I get very hungry in between breakfast and lunch and I want something to carry me over.
-
Megan, that was a wonderful post, and so very true.. I began my journey last January, and had many slips and almost falls in between. I had to change docs, I also had a stress test that showed up positive, had to have an angiograhm before the heart doc would let me continuing my Journey( turned out nothing wrong with my heart but it was a major set back). Anyway I kept going and I am now 7 weeks out and 31 lbs down. Hang in there LULU.
