Having "girl" Problems - Ladies, Please Respond!
Origical replied to Origical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Mirena IUD too. I started my first period in over a year about 3 days after surgery. I did not use tampons at that time because I was still in pain and just didnt want to use them. Then, I had a second period about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery and I did use tampons with no problem. My pre surgery instructions from my surgeon were to bring a couple of pads with me to the hospital because a lot of women do get periods right after surgery. I was just unprepared to have 3 periods since surgery 5 weeks ago. -

Having "girl" Problems - Ladies, Please Respond!

I had surgery 5 weeks ago and since then, I have had 3 full periods! I usually have 1-2 periods a year because I have an IUD. I know fat stores estrogen and therefore loosing weight quickly can alter hormones. I just want to see if this happened to any other women and how long after surgery did your periods go back to the way they were pre surgery. -
Im confused as to whether or not Im allowed to have milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. The paperwork I got from my surgeon contradicts itself. On the one hand, they say not to have milk products, but in another section of a different handout they gave me it says to keep snacks like yogurt and string cheese handy. So, which is it? What were the instructions everyone got regarding milk products post surgery?

Im 1 month out from surgery and had the same experience. Not hungry at all - and that is the goal! Just concentrate on fluids. You will be tired for a while - Im actually more tired now then I was right after surgery. The pain goes away after about 5-6 days. I still have gas in my abdomen from surgery. It is not uncomfortable, but my upper abdomen is still distended. Your doing great - 1st month is the hardest.

How Soon After Vg Did You Go Back To Work?
Origical replied to Origical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW! Im shocked by how many of you took so little time off to recover. I have had a lot of problems with nausea post surgery so I know that has contributed to the longer recovery. I asked for another 2 weeks off, but I am hoping to go back to work next week. -
How Soon After Vg Did You Go Back To Work?
Origical posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is exactly 4 weeks since my surgery. I was planning on going back to work yesterday but still dont feel well enough. How long were you off from work after surgery? Was it hard to go back and keep on track with eating every few hours and drinking water constantly? Thanks everyone! -
Still Throwing Up :(
Origical replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar problem 2 weeks post op. I was put on prilosec twice a day (morning and night) and also pepcid in the afternoon. I also took reglan for a week, which really helped. Reglan is used to control nausea and excess stomach acid. Takes a couple of doses for it to fully work, but it helped a lot. I still have a bit of nausea but I dont throw up anymore. Doctors are sometimes hesitant to prescribe it because it can have serious sides effects the longer you use it. But, I think it is worth looking into. -
3 Weeks Clear Liquids Unbearable!
Origical replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont know why you have to be on full liquids for 3 weeks - thats excessive. I was able to eat soft foods like oatmeal, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes and fish 3 days after surgery. This is my surgeons protocol for all his VG patients. I would start eating soft foods now. -
Pain When I Sip, Sip, Sip
Origical replied to lovesmomos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out from surgery and had this problem big time during my second week post op. I ended up in the emergency room for dehydration because I could only drink about 125mls of fluid a day for 5 days. It was incredibly painful to drink fluids, water causing the most pain. I also had a lot of nausea. It ended up being excess stomach acid. I started taking Prilosec twice a day (am and pm) and pepcid in the afternoon. I was also given reglan which helps with nausea and stomach acid, but reglan should not be used on a long term basis. The pain when I drink water has improved a lot with the new antacid regimen. I still have some nausea, but nothing like before. -
Im Sick.....all The Time
Origical replied to Origical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi sasicas, thanks for responding. I have seen my surgeon's PA several times. I also had a series of abdominal x-ray's done in the ER because the doctors suspected something was going on. The x-rays showed nothing abnormal. Lab work was fine too. Maybe I just have to wait it out, but I feel so awful. -
I had VG on 3/1/12. First week went pretty well. Since last week, I have been really sick. Nausea/vomiting, cant keep fluids down and cant eat anything. Ended up in the emergency room last week for dehydration. Now im taking reglan, zofran, prilosec morning and night, and pepcid in the afternoon. Started to feel a little better last couple of days, but today it all started again. I dont know what to do. Did anyone else experience this?
