Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Jennifur replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
the jumpstart phase works, as I've already lost 28lbs, but it did not work after I had my son. I hve the diet guiedlines somewhere, I'll grab them and post it if you would like. I would not pay the money, they require you to eat a ton of food - healthy food - but a lot, so i don't think you could do it after the band. But a good guideline I guess. -
That is FANTASTIC! I just bought a similar book Before and After: Living and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" Susan Maria Leach; Hardcover; it is similar, book and cook book combined and I'm very excited about reading it, hope it gets here in time to take to the beach with me! I am so excited, and have to return to school a couple days after surgery so I hope I recover as well as you! I did have a C-Section so I hope that helps Good luck

Good Morning everyone Another Day down, I survived my first day of very strict diet for me, which was sooooooo hard as my daughter decided yesterday she wanted a bowl of my Favorite Ice Cream that I can buy in the store. This is not going to be so easy with my very thin, can eat anything in the world daughter. I might have to get some benefiber and need to get one of those tasteless protein powders too. I have to get off the tea I told you all about, I've b ecome addicted. LOL Have a great day all! -

hey everyone so we are getting closer and I am having my next panic attack. I know there are several list of things to get together to bring to hospital and have at home but I am so unorganized and don't even know what end is up. LOL I guess I am lucky that my neighbor is going to cook for my children while i am on full clear liquids for 2 weeks, so I don't have to smell food. I have lots of broth, jello, popcicles, propel and crystal light to go packs to add to my water. What else is there on full liquids? I have some generic things dr's have given me along the way but I won't get my official diet until I am in the hospital. Anyone have any other suggestions to have on hand? I'm sure I'll be sick of that real quick! -

How exciting, our group is growing by the minute! does that cottage cheese thing work? I could do that. I am back on my LA Weighloss, fresh green veggies, oranges and chicken diet. I gained 5lbs over the weekend - all salt Was it Tracy who said she was swelling like a pregnant girl... LOL I am so right there too. Counting down, I feel kind of helpless at this point and can't wait to go on vacation next week! Of course can't leave home without my laptop! -

Good Morning all I did my pre op testing last week, ekg, chest xray, ultrasound on legs and gall bladder. My dr. said he does this stuff the week before but since the week before I am going to be gone they did it when I was on Vac last week. Well, I was a scale whore myself, but last summer my friends beat me up and made me only get on every few days so I'm reformed now. LOL Pat- I was in the hopsital the day she had surgery and looked great but she is having some pain and discomfort and yesterday had a meltdown about liquid diet. lilnena74 i think is her name here and she posted in the March Banders group. -

Dave - Only kidding :bolt: (I am kind of silly tonight) Pat - this is a great support - Until the morning of surgery I think my nerve party is over - total meltdown last week. LOL My friend was banded last week and I think I was feeding off her emotions because Monday before I was freaking about if I would wake up and what if this and that, but once I saw she was fine, so was I. -

Welcome Gina! Misty - I always weigh myself in the am unclothed and when I go to any appts, I try to make them in the am and I always wear the same thing and always take my shoes off! LOL sometimes I get a little nuts and do a mid afternoon weigh in fully dressed and get horribly depressed. LOL Have a good night all! One more day down! -
Hi and welcome Another April 07 Bander here. Congrats on your date...it will be here before you know it!

Welcome! I want to be much less than what I set my goal at (175) but I was trying to be realistic about the situation. My surgeon said stats say I should only lose 50% of my excess weight so I should be down to about 200 when I'm done, but I think that is on the conservative side. Looking at what great things everyone here has accomplished is amazing. But I don't want to disappoint myself, when I get to 175 I will make new goals. I know, blah blah blah, but i hope it helped -

It seems there are quite a few new April Banders the last few days - Tracy - were you keeping track? Maybe we can post a list and dates out there. I saw they did that in the March group, and might be a way for us to know who is doing what -

hello all yes, trying to break some pre-surgery stress with lighter topics. LOL I have a few tattoos, I have a vine around my ankle, my first one, then I added a butterfly to that and more color, then I got a dragonfly on my back and in August I got the biggest best one of all, it is a vine with lilly's on it, so it looks like the dragonfly is going in for a landing. It is huge and took 3hrs to do, I was climbing the walls but so worth it, IT is my favorite. So how bout this, as I've said I am going on vacation next week, and since I've lost some weight wanted to get a bathingsuit that at least fit. YUCK I will be back to very strict diet starting tomorrow. I already blew it today, but I am now cutting up celery and cucumbers and going to get my oranges this afternoon. It takes something like that to completely gross me out. I can't wait til this time next year! Even if I am not at my goal by then I will look better than I do now. How depressing -

Heather, Same with me, My tattoos and piercings are all covered except for a small band around my ankle and I usually wear tights when I was working so no one knew. It is fun when people realize, they always seem so shocked. They sure are addicting. I went with a friend last night and kept telling myself to wait til i was thin... -

Good Morning Everyone! I love this group of people and so nice to see some guys join us. Getting ready to do the Sunday outing with my dad and his family - I have been trying to make an honest effort every other week to have family time - as I'm sure you all might have figured out from other post that is not an easy thing for me. Anyway -Terry - I am here in upstate- about 10 miles outside of Albany. Tracy - and when you get there you should flaunt it... all of it! So I blew it too, gained 4lbs in 4days but I'm sure I can get rid of it quick, I feel bloated like Water gain. The worst thing I did was have some fries last night at the bar. They were so loaded with salt but soooooooooooooooooooooo good. Ok, they also had real cheese and bacon on them. It was my friends bday - I should have ordered a salad but I was weak. Oh well, at least I know this, had a moment and woke up knowing it and fixing te problem this morning. I am finding that I am in a hurry lately and not chewing as slowly and grabbing something on the run. Until I go to Myrtle Beach I am going to slow down. I was so good at that and don't know what happened. So Terry- thank you for telling us your last supper story, I needed that to remind me to SLOW DOWN! Have a great Day All -

So everyone It is almost April. I am done with all of my appts and don't have to go back until the day of surgery. I am so excited but don't know if I am even remotely close to being ready. I need to focus and get my house clean - get caught up on Homework - and make sure I am ready. My main concern is getting my bedroom ready, I had previous surgery and my only major issue was climbing into bed, so I want to make sure I am ready up there. I bought tons of water bottles and some propel and crystal light green tea to add to the water bottles, chicken broth, jello and popcicles. I am just a little overwhelmed and don't know where to start and 23 days will be up before I know it and I will be gone for 10 of them. Deep breath.... Tomorrow I am going to get some homework done and get my room ready. then go from there. I think I need to make a plan to do 1 major thing every day and check it off as I go. Doesn't help my mom is coming to town on Friday and will be here until I leave for Vacation, so I am sure I won't get much done when she gets here LOL -

yes, lessons is exactally it. I have 5 true dear friends in my life and lots people I know, but my one best friend who I am going on vacation with for Easter is dragging me out to meet some of her friends. I need to get out with a new crowd in general. I am trying to change for the better having this surgery and having the drama and b.s. of what I have in my life now is not the best thing for me. So I wish you all strength to surround yourself with the right people in your life. -
Loss of a good friend by her choice

Kat that is absolutely horrible. That entire situation could have been avoided if maybe she was upfront with you and said she met you Ex and was dating him. But that would be too simple! I have learned something over the years, I know someone who is constantly (for 15years) saying she is going to kill herself... I think uses it as a tool. And my very best friend in the world who didn't seem to have any major problems and never said a word actually did kill himself. It is guilt, and if she does, god forbid, you are definately not to blame and hold on to that. I took part of the responsibility for my friend and it ate me up for over a year and I only knew there was nothing I could do after months and months of therapy.
