Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Jennifur replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Morning all Good Luck to all you banders today! thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have officially stopped loosing -16lbs down since the band and 38lbs in total. I am kind of frustrated - I am hungry and would kill for some soup but still feel restriction when i drink anything but water. I called my nutritionist yesterday am and never got a call back. I changed nutritionist the week before surgery because my other nutritionist actually was working on clearing me so I couldn't change until I was clear. The rules from each are so different, the old kept saying soup inbetween liquids and full mushies and the new one says clear liquids for 2 weeks. I feel like I'm in starvation mode - I'm light headed and just not much energy. My steri strip came off my port site and it hurts but feels much better than that glue pulling so hard. Other than that I am actually feeling so much better and can't wait to start loosing again. This weekend I'm going to get out and start my 3mile walk again. -

You hit the nail on the head with this one, I feel hungry BUT when I have my shake I drink it slow and I'm very full. So it stinks that I actually feel hungry but nice that it doesn't take much to fill me! -

Ok not as impressive, but - I decided to change my ticker this am to go from my weight on Monday am before surgery so I know what the band is doing for me instead of trying to figure it out when I update it. End result I need to lose a total of 103lbs and want to lose 128lbs - so as long as i'm there that is all that matters, right? surprised I was 3lbs down this am from yesterday - off to make my shake and head out for the day. Good luck to everyone today! -

Laura - same thing here, yesterday I woke up feeling hungry and I can actually drink water and it doesn't hurt. I wanted some soup in the worst way yesterday. Really, I do want it but I know that my milk shakes I've been making that now only take 20-25mins to drink still fill me up so I can make it until Friday. I don't understand why let your body go into starvation mode - now that the swelling is gone I am actually getting light headed, so it is beyone wanting food, and since I got hungry I stopped loosing too. Which is ok, because I hear that when you add in food you start loosing again. I actually slept on my stomach last night and didn't wake up every time I moved. Off to get ready for school and another day. -

Thanks - I hope so, I try so hard to see it, but it is just hard after 17 years and he is just mia since surgery. Today is another day, still emotionally drained, didn't get much sleep last night but I'm up and going to try to do it again. -

Pamela - thanks bunches. The thing that makes is all so much worse is all my friends HATE dbf so I can't tell them he blew me off, they will just start giving me hell, which is not what I need right now. I just am ready to give up and settle for a job doing something I absolutely hate. I am going to school for construction management - and willing to be a runner or a flag person to get my foot in the door, plus they pay more than unemployment! Tracey - I would love a job like that... I am going to actually apply or a bartender job at a local golf course tomorrow. I don't want life handed to me - just would like things to be better than they have been - now- i have to go sleep at the neighbors because the mouse guy just came and plugged all the holes the mice were getting in so I was told not to be down stairs after dark. What else? -

Hey all so much has happened since I left so ... Job thing sucked! I don't know what I'm thinking but i'm never going to get a job. It is depressing. dbf blew me off today, very depressed no food and i'm starting to get hungry.... I just want to cry. As for the gas. I had lots, walking and gas x ... lots of it. Tracy I wanted to go to school on Wed (day 3) and didn't really work out that way and thrusday I was just so tired I couldn't think, but Friday I was better - Saturday I paid for it and Sunday I was raking the yard. I will pray for you. Anyway - I'm going to continue my pitty party for myself and go pick up my son -

Hello everyone thanks for the suggestions, I am on full clear liquids then full liquids I guess I need to make a phone call to clarify. I have offically stopped loosing weight this am but 12lbs in a week is great Laura - I have a friend who was a March bander and she experienced a pain for about 3 full weeks, which I did not experience at all. It did go away. I am going to be talking to her later so i'll see if I can get some info. She also took perscribed pain meds for much longer than I did too. I still have shoulder gas that comes and goes but is better by the moment. HUGS. Off to the job interview -

Good morning all, FIRST Good luck to all you Monday Banders! Laure- you are cute, I had to post that pic because I hated it so much and it was a huge step for me I'm off to school, had a horrible night - right after I fell asleep my cat came rippin' through my room after a mouse! Woke me up out of a sound sleep, which when I jumped up felt hurt myself, not too bad, I just think my stitches are drying because they burned like they were dry. Needless to say, called my exterminator (which is obviously not doing their job) and screamed on their voice mail - and then couldn't sleep great as I was afraid I was going to have more upstairs in my room. -

I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks but got to add milk in yesterday. I am sure I'm not getting enough calories either, today was the first day I felt hungry. I get mushies 2 weeks out then I get real food after that. -

Well, survived another day of avoiding the neighborhood cookout. It was hard but I can start mushie food next Friday, so that should help greatly. I am starting to feel hungry so that is good only 5 more days of liquids. I cut back on the broth and changed to milk & protein and water. Since my thrush is being treated I have been able to drink water, which is good since I was out in the hot sun today. Anyway, what a great feeling, and as my neighbor put it, soon it will be all worth it and I'll be the hottie on the block. OH on an even happier note, I put on a pr of shorts today I have not had on in 2 years, they were big and I was able to cuff them up - which I was never able to do. Something must be working! Good luck to everyone tomorrow! -

mscags welcome - and I think we all went through the excited and scared. My hospital was so fantastic and helped me relax. Plus I got to joke with My Dr because he was ahead of schedule. I was a wreck before that so much my temp was 100.5 and once they calmed me down it went to 97.6 which is my normal. Funny what nerves can do to you. Anyway, my point, you will be fine! It is a great thing - i'm actually taking a break from light yard work 1 week out -

Congrats on another 3lbs! :clap2: I am down 12 in 6 days and I'm so excited. Anyway, from reading my other post you might see I had horrible shoulder pain as well. Yesterday was my worst day - so I talked to my mom and she suggested maybe a muscle thing from being strapped down and being moved. So for giggles, I took her advice of ice and not heat and start the tylnol again. Amazing I felt better by last night- had a spell this am but not nearly as bad packed it and took another tylnol and I'm good to go..Today is my best day ever. I hope that helps - I don't know if it was gas or muscle - and honestly I didn"t care as long as it went away. -

Pamela thanks, yes it is amazing, although I did wake up with full blown thrush this morning, which I kind of knew was coming - I got it when I had my c-section from the antibiotics they gave me. My Dr called in a script for me this am and hopefully I'll be worlds better by tomorrow. After 2 doses of the meds that nasty taste went away and I actually could stand to drink water. So I live alone with my 2 children - they are being great and i'm trying so hard not to over do it. Today is going to be 80 here so i'm going to do some homework outside, throw the pump on my pool cover and supervise my daughter in some finishing up yard work. I have a couple of big projects I want to do because it is nice outside but I know better and set special days to do them. Good Luck to everyone this week. TracyKS - this is your week isn't it?? man you have to be so excited, since you started this thread and finally... YOUR TURN!!!!!! -

Laura I am so glad it is not a clot. Have you been taking gas x. Maybe the prune juice will work and that will solve your problems. On a happy note for me, my gas pain is finally gone. 5 very long days and I feel like I can function today. Port pain is very mild but more defined as well and I actually felt like I wanted to eat something, which is bad since I still have 8 days of liquids, but I'm taking this all as another huge step to recovery. I am going to go for a nice long walk today, slow and steady but going to walk for exercise instead of walking to get rid of the gas. I hope everyone else is doing well today - I am so happy with my decision and so glad I have lbt to vent on things that the immediate people in my life don't quite understand -

Thanks Terry I ice packed my arm and amazing it feels so much better, I feel like the bloat is going down. It did feel like a very localized screwdriver going into my arm. I'll keep ice packing it and see how that goes. The simple pleasures - it is kind of funny isn't it? I hate milk and love water and I can't drink plain water to save my life but the milk I had today was the best ever. I am beginning to feel a little hungry so I'm going to assume in a sick way that is good and my swelling is going down. -

Thanks Sara- I do know it was best to not be in that situation. I had the heating pad on my arm and the tylnol really helped, so it might be muscle stuff. thanks all for the encouragement
