I went for my second fill apointment (Banded 4/20) Still have not received a fill. I am just needing a snack in the afternoon but it is about 3 - 4 hours before I get hungry so the doctor said I am good. I'm happy with my weight loss, 24 lbs so far. So I'll keep it going without the fill. My doctor said he put some fill in during surgery (not sure how much) so that is probably why I haven't needed anything. It seems weird not to have any fills, but the nurses said everyone is different. I'll go back in 3 weeks and see how I am doing.

** Random Concerns, Questions And Ideas **

As for watermelon, haven't even thought of it but with summer coming and I have started seeing the watermelon at the grocery store in huge bins....hopefully I can have a little every once in awhile. As far as walking....keep at it slowly. I have been walking since 1 week post-op around the neighborhood and yesterday we went for 2 miles (5 weeks post-op). So little by little you will increase how far you can walk. And it's great cause with the weight loss it does make it easier. The more I walk, it seems like I lose weight more steady. And I sleep better too. Good Luck to ya. -
Went for my first fill last week, ended up not getting a fill as I am able to last 4 hrs without being hungry. I will go back in 3 weeks to check if I need a fill then. So far, 20 lbs lost (4/20 banded) Went for my post-op doctors visit yesterday....everything went well. Doctor said I am doing well for someone my size (I had a total of 85 lbs to lose) I've been walking a lot, glad I get to work out now. Concerned about my arms, I need to find some exercises that will keep them from sagging. I have my weights, just need to target those arms. Good luck everyone.

Banded 4/20, went for my first fill on 5/15 but both the doctor and I felt I was doing well and still have restriction. I have lost 20 lbs since being banded. I'm good with that

Banded 4/23 And Exhausted
Wheety3 replied to saras422's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was extremely tired as well (Banded 4/20). I would come home from work and head straight to bed. I am just starting to last the whole day without taking a nap and resting. Walking helped me a lot, I go for walks every night with my husband and it seems to be helping. For me, when I dont get all my water in, I feel worse. So get your rest like your body is telling you, Get your protein, water and walk. It has only been a short time, your body needs to heal. Good Luck. -
I'm excited to be getting away from liquids (banded 4/20) but now I have to actually think about what I will eat everyday. I'm so use to just grabbing my choice of protein drink and pudding, jello or broth. Looking forward to moving on. Now it's gonna get fun

Ya, I know we will look back on this and this time will not be a big deal. But right now, it seems like forever to get back to some real food Good Luck.

I am ALWAYS thirsty....now that I am post-op 14 days, I am able to get the water down better. It was actually causing me to have nausea in the morning because I wasnt getting enough water in. I was getting dehydrated. I am now getting plenty of water and dont have as much problems getting it down. It gets better as time goes on. Good Luck.

4 Days Post Op.....tired Tired Tired
Wheety3 replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 4/20, started work last Weds and all I could do is go to work and then come home to bed. Yesterday was the first day I didn't fall asleep when I got home from work. It will come, take it easy. -
Nausea - Post-Op Day 11
Wheety3 replied to Wheety3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just to follow up, I worked on making sure I got my water in yesterday and made sure I drank water in the evening. Even put water on my bedside and actually did wake up a couple of times and took a couple of sips. This morning I had hardly any nausea. So either I am just getting better with time or the water made a big improvement. Drink your water everyone. -
I was banded on 4/20 and in the morning I still am nauseated when I get up. I have some broth to help sooth but I get lightheaded while getting ready for the day. I tried to drink water this morning as well thinking I am dehidrated in the morning and that seemed to help some. Anyone else having this? I'm feeling good, no pain but just get a little nauseated in the morning and sometime through the day?

Day 10 for me and I was surprised when I woke up on my stomach this morning Pain is just about gone. I've done lots of walking though. Good Luck everyone.

Not drinking anything is not good. You definately need to be drinking your water and protein shakes. Not doing that will definately cause some issues. You may want to call your doctor to see why you cant get anything down. Dont wait too long, it can become serious. Good Luck.

I am having some similar experience but only in the morning for the most part. I have been researching and in my case I think I am getting dehydrated. I am trying to take in more water and see if that helps. Are you getting your water in?

As the days go on, I get more and more energy. (banded 4/20) I have noticed that cooking for the family and sitting with them for dinner while I drink my protein shake hasn't really bothered me. Right now I don't have any real interest in food, nothing I cant ignore. Good Luck to you. Keep on walking

I was banded 4/20, took Monday off and was planning to go back on Tuesday. Didn't feel up to it so I worked from home on Tuesday (glad to have that option). I went back on Weds but I have a desk job. Last week all I did was go to work and come home and relax, husband and kids did all the chores I didn't have any energy at all. I was able to go for my nightly walk though. It's getting better this week. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the tip Jepegurl! That sounds yummy. I am having problems getting all the shake down. I have lost 11 lbs post-op (4/20) and thought it was too much. Looks like a lot of other people are losing as much and more. I just need to get more water in. I sip throughout the day but I just get so full. I did find that drinking heated broth helps in the morning. Something warm seems to help me get my protein shake down. Oh so slowly.

I'm glad I read this, I'm just 6 days out but I get random hiccups when I am sipping.... I think I just discovered that hiccups are my signal.

I am Post-Op day 4. I feel pretty good around the tummy. Just started the bad shoulder pains yesterday. It just started yesterday, but when I drink my protein shakes and broth or my popcycles I feel some tightness right in the middle top of my belly. If I take very very small sips it doesnt seem to happen. The doctor said he did put some fluid in the band during surgery but not sure how much. Am I just drinking too big of sips and too close together, then I feel restriction? I am still able to get my liquids down but just curious if this happens to anyone else? Also any recomendations for this shoulder pain. This part is not fun. How long does it last? Thanks much everyone

My stomach grumbles too...I got my band on 4/20. I've been told that we may have this issue for awhile and the gas-x strips may help. I haven't tried them yet but heard they work. I had a bm this morning and made a huge difference. I feel so much better today and the shoulder pain has subsided for now. Good luck to you.

Thanks everyone for the input. I was not feeling well yesterday with the shoulder pains and all. I slept fine, just a little restless due to I am a stomach sleeper and cant do that right now. Got up this morning and had my first BM and I feel great now. I think I was taking too big of sips. I am taking baby baby sips and dont feel it as much. It's good to hear I'm not the only one going though this. Thanks much.

I have the shoulder pain as well. It didnt start until postop day 3. If I am laying down it seems to be fine but when I sit up that's when it starts. I hope this doesnt last for too long. I am walking around the house a lot and then walk around the block once a day. Not sure what else to try.
-
I am a 4/20 bandster as well. Your Mom is right in my case as well. Hardley had any pain but today (day 3) I now have the dreaded shoulder pain. And I m trying to walk a little more but it is wearing me out. But I am able to get around the house and do some chores and then rest. I know this pain will subside and will be better in no time. My pain rating is about a 4 and maybe a 5 as my pain meds wear out. So nothing unbearable. Good luck everyone.

Day 3 After Surgery & Hungry
Wheety3 replied to csoto81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am post-op day 3 and I havent felt hungry hardly at all. Getting my protein shakes in and sipping on water all day. Then I can have yogurt, broth, or sugar free popcycles twice a day. Those popcycles are so good. I like the cold on my throat. The doctor did tell me that he did put some liquid in the band during surgery. He has found that the patients need this to make it through the liquid stage. -
WellI was banded on Friday the 20th. Everything went great, I was most worried about getting the IV. I told the tech that came in about my fears and he said it would be quick and painless (ya right). He put the IV in my arm rather than the back of my hand, but it didnt hurt a bit. It hurt more when I have blood taken. After that I was relaxed. My OR nurse said they will be giving me happy meds and take me to the OR room, I remember going down that hall but the next thing I knew they were helping me wake up. I had to walk to the xray so the doctor could make sure it was in the correct placement. All was good. About an hour later I was in the car headed home. I havent had much pain, I have been taking the pain meds every 4 hours just to be safe. Walking around the house and drinking fluids without a problem. Today is day 3 and I am getting the left shoulder pain now. I was hoping I wouldnt get it, my pain was almost gone in my stomach. Now I just have the shoulder pain. And it does hurt, but I will keep walking and hopefully it will subside. My doctor told me that surgery day is the easiest part of this journey, I think he is right. Now it's time to eat like a bandster. I know all of this will be worth it. Good luck everyone.
