Just Joined Am I Feeling Normal?
johnnycantrock replied to QueenieBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back 6 days after my surgery. I work in retail, but instead of being on the floor for 8 hours, they're having me man the phones for this (second week after surgery)week and I'm happy they are!! I had a 3 hour lab for school where I was shooting random footage, then afterwords I walked around Walmart for an hour. 4 hours on my feet and I'm done!! Relax, take it easy, don't over-do it, and follow the surgeon's meal plan!! Protein!!!!!! -
I had this the other day. My blood sugar was at 50 (should be around 90) because everything I ate was either way low in sugar or sugar free, so for four days of liquids and two days of mushies I had taken in almost no sugars and I tanked. Had half a small frosty from Wendy's and was feeling good. Ha! So don't completely ignore sugars!!

Stuck For The First Time :(
johnnycantrock replied to tammyg1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got stuck for the first time today. Tuna that was too dry. Wasn't painful but very uncomfortable. -
Had my band in on Monday and today I'm feeling weak. Up til today I felt fine, but today im weak and I feel one step behind. I've gotten about 70g of protein in me but almost no carbs. I've had a lot of water, too. Any ideas? My temp is normal. And no fever.

Feeling Weak Today

I don't put milk in my protein shakes unless it's unsweetened almond milk, but that's on rare occasions. -

I can go on regular foods April 20th if I continue as I am. You're right about sugars. Unless its in my shakes, I'm not having any. And that means I've had 8g of sugar a day. -

I'm looking into getting a scale at home because I don't want to drive an hour round trip to use my primary care physician's (plus I'd have to make an appointment just to hop on the scale.). So does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks everyone. What capacity are those? I'm a high number. I'm standing at 530lbs (down 15lbs since my band was put in last Monday.) so I need a high capacity scale.

How Do You Deal With Negative Feedback From Family, friends, coworkers About Being Banded?
johnnycantrock replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told everyone and so far everyone that I've told has been supportive. My friends and family have watched me struggle for years and if this is the thing that helps me, they stand by it! Even my co-workers are supportive of my decision. They understand that my choice and it can only help me and all they do is encourage me!! Let those who talk negative flap their gums and live your life! -
Well since my last weigh in (a few days before my surgery) to today, I have lost 15lbs!! I'm real excited and am looking forward to future progress!! I know that this type of result won't happen all the time, but I'm happy there is anything happening!! Hopefully when I can start lifting weights in three weeks, I'll see more progress. Long road ahead, but its worth it!!

I feel pretty good!! Though I feel like I did a thousand sit-ups yesterday!! lol but that's normal. I've come down with a cold but it's not associated with my surgery (no fever.). I think in a few days I'll be back to tip top!!

Yay, I Have A Surgery Date!!!
johnnycantrock replied to jen043454's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on the second of this month. I have to say I was nervous up to the day before, but then the jitters went away. It was such a surreal moment that it didn't really hit me till the day after. hang in there!! Don't let it be all you can think about and time will fly! -
Banded Yesterday
johnnycantrock replied to johnnycantrock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I try to walk a bit every hour or so. I've got discomfort around my abdomen, but that's expected. The gas pain I haven't experienced yet, as far as I can tell. I'm drinking my Protein Water, tea, and broth and I had some Jello that went down well. My biggest fear is showering. My wounds look fine, no swelling or redness, no heat or raised temperature around the wounds, but I'm afraid that I'll mess something up if I shower. Did everyone shower after the 24 hours or did anyone wait? I took a washcloth around the wounds but I'm just nervous that I'll get too wet. Am I just bring paranoid? -
All worked out!!!

Called my insurance. Everything is in network. My deductible is $300. I've already paid that to the surgeon's office. My insurance said once it posts to my account then I shouldn't have to pay a dime more. The problem is my surgeon is billing me an extra $246 for administration fees. But agreed to accept the $300 as a down to have the surgery. So me, the surgeon, and the insurance company have to have a sit down on why I'm paying extra out of pocket and who is going to reimburse me if I do.

April Bandsters!
johnnycantrock replied to Moonlitedi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
April 2nd here!! I gave been wanting the surgery for years and the last three I have been out of work. Then a full time job came to me and insurance came with it. As soon as I found out the surgery was covered, I hopped on that train and have been riding a six month diet plan. Now the surgery is scheduled and I'm getting nervous!! I'm currently 545lbs. I'm not being put on a liquid diet, but I'm doing it anyway because I want to lose as much as I can before surgery. -
Ey folks!! Well, it's finally happened. I'm going under the knife. It's been over eight years coming. Finally decided I needs to do something about it, and since I'm still young, now is better than later. About me: I'm 5' 8" and 545 lbs. I work full time and I'm on my feet during 7-8 hours of my shift. Walking or leaning, but rarely sitting. It's wreaked havoc on my knees and back. Turns out I had a thyroid issue and medication has corrected it. Now to lose the weight. I know that most people will say that I should've been skinny by now if I've been looking to lose weight for eight years, but there's a hitch. I'm a performer here in Las Vegas and a lot of what I do is because of my size. I've done a lot of comedy and the fact is, my thinking was if I lost weight, I'd lose jobs. At this point, I've decided that my health and family is more important. So I got my full time job, with insurance, and have been doing a six month diet with my primary care physician. Now I'm all set for surgery. Have a pre-op meeting on the 28th and surgery on the 2nd and I couldn't be happier!!
