I live in Las Vegas, NV where we're rockin' triple digits!! I still walk two miles a day and have started weight training three times a week. I'm feeling sore, but in a good way!! Just trying to keep positive and stay out of bad habits. Las Vegas is a city of excess and I plan on being strong and taking everything in moderation!! So far so good!!

I have lost 38lbs since April 2nd!!! All diet, very little excercise (I walk two miles a day, five days a week.). That's going to change, though!! Gym starts soon!!!

I had my first fill today. Aside from the privk of the needle, I didn't feel a thing!! I was nervous, too, but it's a piece of cake! Mmmm cake.....

Down 32lbs!! Very excited! I know I'm going to plateau eventually, but I'll ride out the losses 'til then!! Only a few setbacks since my surgery, but hopefully I can lose 20lbs by the 4th of July!!! I'll be seeing family I haven't seen since October, so to be -50lbs would hopefully blow them away!!

So Monday's are my actual "Weight Days" so I hopped on and....DOWN TWO MORE POUNDS!! Makes it -34lbs since April 2nd!! I can start at the gym again, so I'm excited about that!! I walk over two miles a day, 5 days a week, so cardio is good, but I want that Iron pumping feeling!!! I cannot wait to hit the weights, and lose...weight!!! Ha!! Exciting times ahead!!! I'm aware of the dreaded plateau, so I know not to get discouraged. It'll pass; just gotta work hard!! Put your shoulder to the wheel, push along!!

I use to have window rattling burps, but since the band, if I can burp at all, they are quiet little things. Sometimes they don't make noise at all; like air escaping. Kinda saddens me. But my wife is totally okay with it!!

When I don't judge what's on yours. I've been banded for 5 weeks. I have lost 30lbs and feel real good. I've noticed I've started feeling less restriction, and can eat more than 4pz but my doc can't see me 'til 2 weeks from today. So tonight I have a plate of veggies. I know I can't eat them all, but they're there nonetheless. My mother in law walks by and asks,"How can you eat all that with your surgery?!" mind you, she's done this several times before, and I give her the same answer. "I can't eat all of it, so I eat what I can, then put the rest in the fridge for later. But it bugs me that she sees my progress, she knows my losses, she sees me eat less, but every time I have food, she asks me that question, and it's asked in a dry, condicending tone!! The worst of it is, she says this about my plate of veggies and she has a HEAPING bowl of chocolate syrup covered ice cream and a container of Oreos!!!!!!

Don't Judge What's On My Plate
johnnycantrock replied to johnnycantrock's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Everyone in my life has been supportive and encouraging, even her. But she's the only one who just doesn't understand What I'm going through. She's like a cheerleader who cheers her team on, but doesn't understand the game and criticizes it while it's going. And it's healthy food, too!!! I understand if it's a box of chocolates, but veggies?!?! I know she doesn't intend to be mean, it really isn't, but it's aggravating to have the same conversation over and over and then she sits down, in front of me, with a big bowl of sugar!!! And I'm suppose to be understanding!?!?! -
It's a reminder that the body retains more water in the summer time especially if you're not drinking enough water (and you're sun burned), which means less weight loss and possibly weight gain! Don't get discouraged!! Keep thinking about the non-scale victories, and check the scale less!!!

Have a PPO Plus with UHC and it involves a $300 annual deductible. My dr's office says I owe them $545 and now I'm worried that I'll have to pay the hospital some $$ the day of surgery. I was told I would only have to pay $300 out of pocket (not including co-pays for doctor visits.). My plan states that they pay 100% after the deductible and my deductible is $300. IDK why all of the sudden I'm paying an extra $245 to the surgeon, and possibly a second fee to the hospital. Anyone else going through anything like this?

Was banded at 10:30am yesterday. I feel pretty great today, actually!! After getting home till I went to sleep I had some stiffness in my chest so I walked around the house and breathed in deeply and that went away (mostly) by this morning. Other than that, I'm hardly in any discomfort. I'm very excited about my new life and so far!!

Or the first time since being banded!! No more soups!! No more chili!! No more purées!!! Last night I had some steak (medium rare), cut into pinky sized portions. Ate about three ounces. Had some cold slaw and mashed potatoes, too. All in all about 5oz. No sticking, no problems, but did I ever feel full!! Now if that seams like a lot, keep in mind this time last month I was at the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas kicking back a Quadruple Bypass Burger (2lbs of meat, not including the bun.) stacked with 15 slices of bacon, with a side of fries and two cokes. No feeling of satiety. So to be able to go from 3lbs of food to 5oz, it's a damn miracle!!

Real Food
johnnycantrock replied to johnnycantrock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every doctor/nutritionist is different. My nutritionist says the book is more a guideline. Once you can get in your daily amount of protein (at least 90g) and all your water, you can move on. Some people move on faster than others. I had 5 days of liquids and two weeks of mushies. Now I'm on real foods and I noticed in the few days i've been on solids, i tend to stick with mushies for meals except for lunch. Lulz -

I haven't had a fill since my surgery and am already down 25lbs. My doc won't fill til I'm 6 weeks out, so I'm not surprised I can take in over 4oz. Once I can start getting my fills, I hope to find the sweet spot!! -
Calorie Intake
johnnycantrock replied to GurlieGirl0723's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded 4-2-12. I take in less than 950 calories a day with 30 minutes of walking a day. I eat 3 meals a day with lots of water and a couple protein shakes a day. My nutritionist tells me it's not just about the calories, but about how your body feels. If you're getting the right amounts of nutrition and not feeling hungry, then you're fine. If you're body is functioning and not hungry (again, after taking in the nutrients that it needs.), why would it think it's starving? Your body isn't counting calories. -
Banded 4-2-12...I work retail, but it's fast paced retail. On my feet, bending, stretching, lifting, leaning, etc. At my weight (pre band 545lbs/post band 524lbs) it wasn't too bad, so I figured a week would be fine. I returned to work and they insisted on me doing light duty and I'm glad. A week later I tried to hit the sales floor and could only handle several hours before I couldn't handle it. My managers are awesome and have me on light duty until I feel healthy enough to hit the floor again. When I talked to my doctor's office, they said that ideally I would need 4 weeks off after surgery.

Running At The Gym And Driving In The Car
johnnycantrock replied to jill1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Driving I can do fine (even got to pull the seat forward!! Love the visible wins!!), but I work retail and after two hours of constantly being on my feet, bending and stretching, I'm done. Doc wants me in light duty for two more weeks at the least (total one month after surgery.). Just take it easy and you'll be fine. -
Almost Two Weeks From Banded
johnnycantrock posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nd I ate some soft oatmeal cookies. I chewed the hell out of them, and they tasted delicious!!!! But two was plenty for me! That has never happened, eating only two small cookies. So happy!! Sad news, though, I can no longer wear my wedding ring as it now slips of my finger to the point I'm afraid I'm going to lose it. -

I've got a LOT to lose (545lbs banded weight) so I'll lose more, faster, but will plateau soon. -
Almost Two Weeks From Banded
johnnycantrock replied to johnnycantrock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go on solids on Friday. I can eat oatmeal right now, so I don't see how 2 oatmeal cookies are much different especially when I chew them to purée standards. I'm doing well with carb intake. weighed today and I'm down 25lbs since surgery on the 2nd! -

The nutrients that come out during boiling are what the plant needs to grow. They are different nutrients that you get when you eat them.
