I waws also banded on the 16th late in the evening. I am also sore at the port site but it looks better each day although it is very bruised The other incisions look like they are healing. The drain site still is kind of open looking;. I just added protein drinks today..so far just one and of the 8 oz I had 6oz and it took me about 35 minutes to get that down. I don't have a problem getting in the both but I crave something other than that. I have sugar free popsicles and sugar free fudgesicles..when are you allowed to add yougurts and puddings that are SF of course at least the pudding? I have lost 7 pounds since being banded and have the opposite of constipation..don't know how that is for you. Each day gets better it seems but I am so protective and worried about that port site..yikes...

Well I was banded May 16th. I was the very last surgery of the day so I had fasted from Midnight till my surgery which was performed finally at 7:00 PM in the evening . It was a long day. I had gastric bypass revision lap band surgery so I had a lot of scar tissue that needed to be scraped away. I flew home the next day with some discomfort but nothing severe at all. I am more plagued by the opposite of consitpation and thought it might have been the stuff I had to drink down quickly when they checked to make sure the band was in place and no leaks when they xrayed me. Gas is minimal but it was never drastic. It was there but walk walk walk and the gas strips helped me. My port site is pretty sore and bruised and I have changed bandages it seems clean and the drain site is the worst looking right now. Anyone know when it would be safe to add sugar free fudgesicles as I am sooooo tired of sf ice pops..need to TASTE something..but I so cautious and have had only clear liquids ie..broth , water and the sf ice pops so far....not craving food food yet at all....except for some reason ...cream of wheat..lol...

Everyone has their own pain threshold. What is excruciating for one is not so bad for someone else. This does not diminish how bad it feels for some..just don't want everyone panicking thinking it's going to be horrible pain...having had stomach surgery before I can tell you the gas pain is uncomfortable or it was then for that surgery. They had me up and walking soon after and that really helps a lot. Hope all of you that have bad pain recover quickly and feel so much better very soon..for those of you who are still waiting to be banded like me...think positive...your own story is your own story...there are tons of people who have had this who experienced none to mild discomfort too....good thoughts...

It is impossible to lose almost 40 pounds and expect to not have your pants become loose. Perhaps your waist size was geared toward the loosest hole and now you need that other belt...besides...its about the loose pants, the scales and how you feel and what you see...come on now...you know what gives...your pants...try on another size like a size 42 and see how that is....lol...you know you are getting smaller...

I don't start until three days before my surgery so Mothers Day I start clear liquids..my family is taking me out for my "last supper of eating anything I want to" that Saturday evening...and my last glass of wine for quite a while...it's all worth it..my life and your life will be changed for the better ..we will begin our journey of being slender healthy good image and good esteemed women....WE WILL DO GREAT Where are you having your surgery done ? is will be behind us and we will shine...I just know it..

Good luck and speedy recovery to you all..hope your discomfort very minimal and none of those gas issues that seem to happen to a few...I am being banded on the 16th and so I will be reading these boards every single day to see how it all goes...God speed...here's to a new healthy all of you...

There are always exceptions to the rule. I know quite a few people who were banded and have been successful..Sounds like she might have had other things to contend with that went wrong. Keep positive..good things are just waiting to happen..I think if you ask your Dr they will tell you that slippage is not common and the first 6 weeks you need to be careful as those are the crucial weeks so everything heals and settles down ...good thoughts...

I am not getting these posts out to the right people when I try to answer them...don't know how to do that I guess...but for the papaya enzyme question...it will neutralize the gas...they are chewable pills as well..and it really works...

Godspeed...it will be for the better and in 5 months from now ...we all will be looking at what looking at healthy means......

Hi .I am a May Bandster...I am scheduled for May 16th and my surgeon is Dr. Almanza. I am buying liquid broth and things I will need now..I made sure to get gas-x as that seems to be a big problem. I wonder if everyone gets gas or it is random? I can't do fruit juice as it converts to sugar too rapidly for my system and I get sick..I have to find all diet products...I don't know if getting the protein should be better in powder form and then mix it or the already mixed..anyone have any advice on that who is already in the know on taste...?? Good luck to all of you. It takes alot of trust in yourself to do this in the first place..remember how you felt when you made this decision and your fortitude...keep your eye on the desination and enjoy the journey to your sucess so you never let it out of your sight and never let it slip away from you....namaste...

Carnie Wilson Had Lap Band Surgery.....
alb729 replied to Yve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it is not uncommon for those who have had gastric bypass to regain the weight after atleast 5 years....wish I was offered a different path at that time but it is what it is and I deal with it... Thanks for the good wishes....I will post as it happens...perhaps it will help someone else .... -

Carnie Wilson Had Lap Band Surgery.....
alb729 replied to Yve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my Gastric Bypass done a little bit after Carnie Wilson had hers...I had the Roux En Y. I did wonderful with it and gained about 15 pounds back by 2007..In 2009 I started gaining back more weight. I will say that I didn't always stick to what I know was the best food choices but I still did okay for the most part. I have now been told that the once 2 ounce pouch had more than likely stretched to the usual size of my original stomach or it grew back ...it can happen...anyway...I tried WW to control it...Jenny Craig...Medifast...Sensa...HCG...Adkins..all the things I did before my original WLS..to no avail...so now I too...like Carnie Wilson have this one last choice...there are a few other procedures but lap band over gastric bypass is what is my future on May 16th...I am more ready for it then I ever was..still down by 50 pounds from my original go round...Believe me..Carnie knows as I know this is no magic bullet...it is WORK and SUPPORT...no one chooses to keep altering their bodies but sometimes genetics and your own body setpoints go against you..I wish her all the best...I wish for my success for the very last time at this too...
