I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!

JaSleeve, Post some new pics!! -
Hi Everyone, It has been a very long time since I posted. The last time was 8 days post op. I have been following a sleevers page on facebook but I miss this forum so I'm back to stay. It has been 4 1/2 months since my surgery. I have lost 70 pounds. It seems the weight loss is slowing down a LOT! It gets frustrating but I realize that I wouldn't have able to lose 70 pounds without this surgery. I'm so glad I did it even though I questioned myself right after. I am almost off all of my hypertensive medication which is so awesome because I was on two different ones and have had HBP since I was in my early 20's. I was also a borderline diabetic before the surgery and now my numbers are great! I can't thank God enough for this opportunity and blessing to have this surgery. I did have to pay for it because my insurance sucks and won't pay for hardly anything but I know it was so worth it. I'm a little concerned that my weight loss has slowed. I had hoped that the honeymoon phase would last at least 6 months but it seems for me it hasn't. It is really hard for me to lose 2 pounds a week now. I am eating well and getting in all of my Protein first. I do have hypothyroidism due to ablation of my thyroid so that may have something to do with it. I do know that there is no way I would have been able to lose 70 pounds in 4 1/2 months without this surgery. I'm so thankful!! In the last two weeks I was able to walk 2 5k's! Before, that would have never been possible. I was close to 300 pounds. My pre op weight was 297 and now I'm 222! Can't wait to be in onederland! I hope to be there by Christmas! What a wonderful gift that would be. Ok... so everyone have a great day and I definitely am staying on this forum! God Bless!

Thank you! That is a really good idea! I'm trying to love myself. I tend to look at what I haven't accomplished instead of what I have. I am so blessed though. I will take your advice! -
Realistic Monthly Goals For The First 6 Months
Lisa's Hope replied to Ready4success's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 1/2 months out and I'm down 70 pounds. I've noticed the past two months my weight loss seems to have slowed a bit. I think realistically, 10 pounds a month is great. I know that some people lose more but this is average for most. I'm not liking it at all either! -

Well, I will be 15 weeks out tomorrow. I've lost 64 pounds and am so grateful for my sleeve! It wasn't easy in the beginning but now I'm so glad I went through with it. I would never have been able to lose 64 pounds in 15 weeks any other way! God has truly blessed me! I can't wait to be in onederland but I have a ways to go yet ! -

3 Months Post Op With Pics!
Lisa's Hope replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks!! I love you guys! I know I would have NEVER been able to lose this much weight without my sleevey. I said in the beginning that I wouldn't do it again if I had to do it over, but ... I would! Some people have an easy time and some have really bad complications. I think I was somewhere in the middle of that and I am so blessed by my savior , Jesus Christ, because he brought me through this and I prayed for years for him to release me from this addiction. He did! All the glory to HIM! -
You will have to give up foods for about 6 weeks. Pre op 10 days then 2 weeks of liquids, 1 week of soft foods, etc. After that it gets better and better. After your sleeve, you really don't want things like you did before the surgery. I know for me the hardest part was the preop! I thought I would die!!! LOL I made it and I don't regret anything. I had some pain afterward. Spasmz in my chest after swallowing, fatigue, and still struggle with left side pain which I think is a muscle. I'm 9 weeks out today and I've lost 47 pounds. I could have NEVER done that before. You will be so glad and thankful if you make the decision to do this. You really have to want it though. I knew I couldn't do this any other way and I want to be healthy. Good luck and be happy with whatever decision you make!!

Not Sure What To Do
Lisa's Hope replied to jessika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still don't get in 64 oz! It is so hard. After I was sleeved, to keep from getting dehydrated, I drank G2 gatoraide with my water. It doesn't have as much sugar and it kept me hydrated. Just make sure you get enough to stay hydrated and you should be fine! -
Esophogus Spasams Agter Surgery.....
Lisa's Hope replied to lasuber's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had spasms in the middle of my chest after every swallow for 4 weeks. I also would keep my water room temp. It helped a little. The swelling was the culprit. Once the swelling goes down it the pain should taper off. Hope you feel better soon! -
I wouldn't have been able to do it. I was so tired and in pain because I had so much swelling. Also, you HAVE to take care of yourself. You don't need to be lifting anything (not saying you would be) but you need to be careful with your body. You will be on liquids for 2 weeks after and then soft foods in week three. Your energy levels will be down. I say take care of yourself and hopefully he will understand. This is major surgery and some people have major complications. Small percentage but some do. I say don't do it. Sorry for the negative Nelly attitude but we have to be real. Good luck!
-
You are doing awesome! I hope to be where you are in my 4th month. We weighed exactly the same at surgery but you've lost faster. I'm down 47 and I'm two months out. I sure hope I make it into the 70's pounds lost by 4 months!!
-
I had spasms in the middle of my chest too for about 3 weeks out. It hurt really bad. It would hurt when I drank anything. I was told my my surgeon that it was just the swelling and it would eventually go away. It did! If you do not have a fever and are not vomiting, you should be ok.
-
I'm so sorry! I've had so many EKG's. Maybe it is nothing and the cardiologist will be able to tell. When are you going to hear from your primary? Try not to worry. I know that is easier said than done. I'm a worryier myself. I'm not sure what repolorization is but I sure will pray for you.
